I'm a Jason's Deli fan from way back. How far back, you wonder? Well, I remember the Portobello Mushroom Wrap, a favorite of mine since 2003. Now for reasons out of my control, I had not darkened the doorway of Jason's Deli in forever until recently. It was because of a craving for umami foods that I thought of Jason's, and the aforementioned Portobello Mushroom Wrap. Once inside the clean, spacious Mockingbird location, I was surprised to see how much Jason's had changed over the years. Gone was the long salad bar, a causality of Covid-19. But also the general floorplan had been altered to create a more even flow of foot traffic through the store. The menu had changed dramatically and I am sad to report I did not get to have my coveted Portobello Mushroom Wrap but instead opted for a loaded baked potato. This thing is a monster, a giant steak potato stuffed with chicken breast cubes, cheddar and a whole bunch of yummy stuff overflowing with flavor. I ate mine as a stand-alone meal and got full for a little over $10. Not bad. Of course, another reason I love Jason's Deli is the free soft serve ice cream for dessert. I had the chocolate/vanilla swirl which capped off a good meal nicely. While I didn't get what I came for, I did get a delicious meal for not a lot of money. Hey Jason's Deli, what do you think about bringing back the Portobello Mushroom Wrap? Pretty please! 😍 Update: I am going to eat a Spud that is nearly bigger than my head. Somebody stop...
Read moreI cannot tolerate the service at this location any longer, but I still like the food. This morning was the last straw. I ordered my breakfast online. The location was open, yet when I get there I can't tell, because in addition to the doors being locked no one was eager to come open one of them for me when they looked up and saw me softly smiling, waving, and then jiggling the door. We made eye contact. I paid for my order and tipped you all, just like I do every time. I go to a second door, and eventually I get someone to open it. I cannot get the employees at this location to speak to me, it's like pulling teeth. This is your establishment. You know how things work. You should be willing to provide at least a moderately welcoming environment. I am always the friendly, greeting, open one, anytime I arrive at your establishment. Finally I get my order, and as I turn to walk out they ask me if I've already paid. I say yes, thank you, and proceed to walk away. Then I get a somewhat worried, weird look from someone at the register, and a second employee (who I'm guessing is a manager) looks me up and down before informing me she is verifying whether I paid. This is fine. But communication, basic manners and respect please. I am..or was..your customer. I am..or was.. part of your revenue base. I am not an afterthought. This is, consistently, not the welcoming establishment...
Read moreNot sure if my opinion counts as a very frequent customer, but my patronage relies HEAVILY on customer service next to quality of food. I was saddened to hear that Mr. Jamal Boykins was recently let go from his position at this Jason's Deli. This gentleman was nothing short of professional, cordial, welcoming and attentive to all customers that enter this dining establishment. As someone who deals with many customers in a 1 on 1 setting on a daily basis, it is disappointing to hear that someone can lose their job because a customer who is having a bad day, comes in and takes it out on a hard working, under appreciated employee that is trying to do their best to accomodate to their many times unreasonable demands. This part of town in particular is the center of Entitlement town, USA. So to hear that someone as hard working as Mr. Boykins was treated as such a disposable commodity, makes me not want to support this restaurant in the future. Unfortunately because of its close proximity to where I live, I come in there at least 3 times a week, but I can't support a business that under values hard working folks that are a great representation of their company name. Shame on you Jason's Deli, you got this one wrong! I wish Mr. Boykins nothing but the best in his future endeavors and hope he reads this so he can know that his efforts didn't...
