LA Gourmet Pizza — Restaurant in Dallas

I went to this establishment for the first time this evening! It was a cute place, nice wall decor, etc. I was picking up delivery and had to wait quite some time. The problem was not the wait, because I saw them putting time into each pizza and making it look and smell delicious. The issue was, I was standing there waiting for quite some time, probably 15 minutes, one worker greeted me and let me know it would be a wait.. Other people came in and the other worker, maybe manager did not acknowledge me one time, she offered all the men that came in a free drink, was chatting with them and did not even look at me. I waited for quite a bit and even stood up just to make sure they remembered I was there bc the one employee was acknowledging everyone that came in the door except me. I am a black female, nobody that came in was black. I was doing DoorDash, but I still matter. I never pull the race card but it was interesting how she literally never looked my way but kept an eye on the entire lobby. I can’t judge the food, but I can leave a review on that. It is rare that I think race has to do with it but this…. Was unfortunate. I will say, the girl that handed my my DoorDash was fantastic. It was the other lady coming from the back. I've always ordered from this place at least twice every other week. Used to be a huge fan. I get the same thing from this place and order in a consistent manner. There was a miscommunication over the phone and when the order was given to me it wasn't the order which I had asked for. Therefor, I called back to inform them and when the order was brought over to me I was berated and belittled by the delivery boy. I was told that I screwed up my order and that they would no longer 'do this again' and that next time I better get it right before he walked away. I was not under the impression that people behaved in this fashion, whether it was for customer service or not. He attempted to humiliate and mistreat me in front of my own doorstep, proceeding to imply that I was stupid and a liar. I'm not sure who this man was or his name, it might have possibly been 'Rick' as that seems to be a man who has a great number of horrible reviews on Yelp for this establishment but I will never, ever, order from this place again. If they can't even treat me with the respect human beings deserve then they don't deserve any of the currency I've given them over the past two...

To say that the food is mediocre is false. The pizza (the one that I get anyway -- Pepperoni Classico) is the best in the metroplex that I have found, even over Nizza Pizza. Their wings are good (but Rocco's has my favorite hot wings).

I've never seen anyone 'standing by the door', nor have I seen 'ghetto thugs' hanging around at night, and I mostly frequent the place at night, just prior to close. They are located in the middle of the uptown bar scene where there is substantial police presence. I've seen the oddball homeless person ambling around, but that's about it.

In defense of the staff, the cashier and everyone have always been nice to me and I have zero complaints. I suspect an over exaggeration or misinterpretation of something that happened.

All in all, this place has mostly stolen my heart away from Nizza, which is saying something. The negative reviews are completely off-base, so swing by and see...
