On my 3rd day here in Dallas performing at the ACDA National Convention, I decided to take the advice of one of my colleagues and try the restaurant, Open Palette, right here in my hotel at the Sheraton. My colleague suggested the tortilla soup, which my awesome server, Jacqueline, also said was very delicious. I was not disappointed!
This tasty soup with a spicy kick was just what I wanted. Now, please note that I'm originally from TX, and the kick in the spice of this delectable soup was not a problem for me. Perhaps avoid it if even mild to moderate heat from capsaicin is a problem for you.
The presentation of the soup was, for me, a new experience. The chef brought out the solid in gradients (tortilla, cheese, and avocado) in the bowl, then poured to hot soup into the bowl. That way, the tortilla strips don't get soggy and maintain their crispness and crunch.
My final course of my gastronomic lunch was the Pappardelle alla vodka. Wow! The pasta was perfect, and the vodka sauce, just wow! It's one of the best vodka sauces I've ever had. I also loved the little sweety drop peppers in the sauce. I added shrimp to this entrée as the protein to round out this tasty lunch.
As my server Jacqueline said when I placed my order, "You are going to have such a delicious lunch!" She was so on point....
Read moreWhile being a guest at the Sheraton hotel this restaurant is located in, a friend and I decided to eat here. We waited at the podium for about 5 minutes before walking in where we were told to sit anywhere we like. It took some time before the waiter arrived but the service he provided was good. The service was a bit slow, understandable given the times. My friend got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich, and I got the double cheeseburger. The food came out fast and was of good quality, it wasn't the best burger I've ever had, but certainly not the worst either, For a hotel restaurant it got the job done though. As for the breakfast, while the buffet is a little pricy at $24, drinks are included and they have a good variety of foods to choose from, and like any buffet it is all you can eat. If you're a guest on the property this is a pretty good place to eat for a good price for a hotel restaurant. If you are in downtown looking for a lunch or dinner place though, this is...
Read moreI’m always wary of hotel restaurants. Honestly I never expect much. But on a 2 night business trip to Dallas, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. A group of us shared appetizers, from the roasted cauliflower, meatballs and fried green beans, and loved the entrees as well. The short ribs melted in my mouth, the pasta of the day was outstanding and an associate really loved his burger. It was definitely a gourmet burger. Yesterday for lunch I ordered the fish and chips and it was outstanding. The service was a little slow, but wasn’t an issue, but honestly if it weren’t for a gentleman named Nery Perez, who supports the servers, service would have been much slower. He never took his eye off any of the tables, made certain our drinks made it to our table from the bar in a timely manner and was a huge help to the servers. Little things mean so much. This gentleman understands that well. I can definitely recommend this restaurant....
