For the past two months, my friend and I had been planning to celebrate our birthdays at Lit Kitchen with family and friends. However, the excitement I had about my birthday last night was completely ruined. I've never been so disappointed on my actual birthday. I was so embarrassed and hurt that my night turned out the way it did. I had made a reservation about a week or so in advance for 9:00 p.m. and was not informed that a private event had been booked for the night. When we got there and checked in, I was told that we would have to eat and pay the bill by 10:15 p.m. Had this information been communicated properly, I would have chosen a different establishment to avoid any problems. But it wasn't. After being sat down, it took a while for us to get our drink order. Once we received our drinks and our server came to take our food orders, she was pulled away. When she came back, she told us that we couldn't order because the kitchen was backed up and did a manual hard stop. She was very pleasant and apologetic and she tried to do what she could. She provided an order of fries and sushi rolls for a table of 8. When talking with the director of operations, he was not understanding and very short. He definitely needs some more training in dealing with paying customers. Very unprofessional. Told me, he couldn't comp our drinks due to being sat down 1 min after the 15 min grace period. When the last two people were being held up by their valet service. Bri, our server, again was amazing and apologetic and wanted to make up my bday dinner. I may take her up on her offer but I'm very hesitant. She's needs a higher position in the company because she embodies all that management should. After being so disappointed, I would not recommend this place. Save your money because you can and will be overcharged because that's what happened with our 2nd...

So the place is very beautiful but very unreasonable. We had a reservation and the rules was explain about being late. Well I arrived about 30 minutes late. Me and my guest for a birthday party. Due to 2 accidents in front of me coming from Fort Worth. They were informed that we was going to be late the rest of the party was there. Once me and my guest arrived we were greeted nastly after letting them know we arrived. The man who greeted me then looked at his watch and was like hmm. Well our friends then came and got us. Afterwards the staff and the greeter began whispering. We asked for a menu and the server said she would get one. She never return. So we went and got a menu. Then a waiter walked to the table and whisper to the host. We were told they can not serve us because we came to late. Now no tables or chairs were added or anything no extra people and the reservation couldn't be done for later because they were already seated. And the time because of thr accident was not account for. Then we were told the only way to be served is to seat at the bar away from the party.

The whole point of this is that they were rude and unprofessional. I would have happily left the party and went to the bar. But all the whispering and the greeting to start with was unprofessional. Then we were told one person was a manager and then some other person comes out and says she was the manager. So most definitely will not be recommending this place ever. the place is totally cute & has potential. our server was absolutely horrible, the restaurant wasn’t packed so there really isn’t any excuse. I’ll start off with this, one of the ladies in our group has celiac’s disease, she mentioned it numerous times to make it clear. When she asked if the crab in the sushi was imitation crab or actual crab, she said oh it’s actual real crab meat. She gets her sushi, you can clearly see its imitation. We then ask about ingredients on another item, she assured us there was no soy sauce on it. When she got it, it’s literally covered in soy sauce. She didn’t did not know the menu at all. & definitely was willing to lie until my friend mentioned it would make her extremely sick. secondly, this same waiter forgot multiple drinks, we waited over an hour for a side of Mac and cheese. The wedge salad was “sent to the bar” so it had to be remade and was of course late. the food was not good, just wasn’t tasty at all. one of our drinks came with a huge cube of ice, once we took the cube of ice out, there was barely any beverage in the glass. It was a $20 drink. Unacceptable. when she gave us our tickets, she took our payments, she then LOST one of the ladies debit cards and then rudely accused her of never getting it. Once we got the manager, he wasn’t much nicer. Rude. They then found the card by the register. Never once apologized for any of the many mistakes they made throughout our experience. the host in the front was nice. Overall, I do not recommend this place at all.
