SHAME!!! Blatant discrimination by Sam Blundell the manager at the Lyons Oskar Blues. How does he even still have a position with this company??! After writing a review last October after a terrible dining experience there one night with my family I heard through word of mouth from a server at this location that I had been 86'd (banned) from returning to Oskar Blues. For what?! My review-which was spot on and accurate. I found this to be quite unethical, however, brushed it off and didn't return to this location for a while. Up until yesterday, I was hiking with 2 of my single-mom friends and our 5 kids. We had had a great day in Button Rock Preserve and decided to stop at Oskar Blues Lyons for lunch. We sat at in the downstairs bar area and had wonderful service by Jess. We were having a great time. We were having drinks and had ordered quite a bit of food. Surprisingly, Sam came up to the table and immediately said in front of my guests that I was 86'd and had to leave the premise. I asked him for what and he refused to tell me. When I continued to inquire a reason (while embarrassing me and my friends in asking me to leave) he continued to refuse any information and said he would call the police if I did not go. I told him to go ahead and call the police. Sam left and I saw him get on the phone. At this point our food finally arrived and we ate while processing (in shock) what had just occurred. My friends were appalled in the lack of professionalism and decency by this inconsiderate and discriminatory action by Sam. I was eager for the police to arrive so that I could learn more in the reasoning behind Sam asking me to leave. What right did he have in doing this other than personal retaliation over of my first review. I had done nothing wrong! When the police arrived they were very kind and wanted to know my side of the story. They were supportive and agreed that this seemed more like a ridiculous personal matter more than anything else. Unfortunately Colorado law says that a manager can ask a patron to leave without any explanation at all. How can this be? This falls in line with blatant discrimination when being asked to leave an establishment without just cause! In any case, I paid my bill and left. I will not be back. Sam is a sad little coward who abuses his power and highly lacks dignity and integrity! He should...
Read moreI would love to give this place more stars, especially with how much of an Oskar Blues fan I am. Unfortunately, I cannot. We had a large party here for a team gathering (our team is sponsored by Oskar Blues). When we arrived they had several small tables all separated, which doesn't help with a team event. When asked if the tables could be moved, the response had to do with how to split the checks. All of the drinks were going on one tab, and everyone was paying for their own food. We are not the type of group that wouldn't be able to tell you what we ordered. They finally helped move some tables together, only then to complain about a fire hazard...there was plenty of room to move around, as well as a door to the outside next to us. Then came the food. The appetizers were pretty good, but the Lyon's location seems to have a different menu and much better executed. I ordered a hamburger, $12 on the menu...keep that in mind. No where on the menu does it list what their toppings are but they state that toppings are an additional $1. Ok, no big deal, I wanted to add cheese and bacon, and have the lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, on the side. Standard burger fixings, right? Remember $12 burger here! Wrong! I was asked what kind of cheese...well...I don't know because it wasn't listed what kind you have...with a HEAVY SIGH the cheeses were then listed to me. When I mentioned the lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle, on the side. I was then informed that each of those were ADDITIONAL toppings and also cost $1 each!! WHAT!? Never in my life have I been to a BAR that doesn't serve standard fixings on a burger! Server then proceeds to tell me that it's not up to her and she doesn't make the burger. Unfortunately this will not be my go to...ever again. But if I'm in Lyon's I'll go to the original Oskar Blues, where they actually have their menu figured out. Sorry OB Denver...
Read moreSince my time living out in Denver, Oskar Blues has always been one of my favorite breweries. It's hard to go wrong with their Dale's Pale Ale. When I realized that they now had a restaurant in Denver, it was time for my family to stop in for dinner one night while on spring break. Oskar Blues Grill & Brew is located just off the 16th Street Mall on Market Street, just a few blocks from Union Station. There was a good crowd when we arrived, but the spacious restaurant space allowed for a table to be had right away.
Obviously, you will find Dale's Pale Ale on draft, but they also have a ton of other beers that aren't so common, especially out in Ohio. If barrel-aged Ten FIDY is there, be sure to give that a try! Other popular beers include Mama's Little Yella Pils and Old Chub. The restaurant also features a full bar and signature cocktails.
For dinner, I had the spicy chicken sandwich which is tossed in honey sriracha, topped with coleslaw and pickled jalapenos on a brioche bun ($15 with fries and pickle slices). This was a really unique and good spicy chicken sandwich. It was pretty hot, so be sure you have plenty of Dale's Pale Ale to wash it down with! My wife enjoyed the pulled pork, and the kids menu had just about everything our littles...
