Stopped by for lunch on the day of the Nuggets parade on 6/15/23. Stood in line for food for about an hour which wasn't a big deal because they were slammed. No biggie. I went and bought 2 beers for me and a friend for a total of 9.49, handed the bartender a $20 and was never brought the remaining change. When asked about my change for the drinks, I was gaslit and lied to by that employee and refused as she obviously threw it all in the tip jar and had no plan on giving me any change back. Spoke with the manager to get cameras checked and the camera views proved my point but "she couldnt without a doubt see that I handed her a $20 instead of a $10," and recieved a gift card for my inconvenience, of which I do not even want and will be returning. I still feel the need to let people know that based on my experience that cash is not safe at this location and the bar staff are untrustworthy and willing to lie because they know they won't be caught or nothing will come of the complaint. There are much better places in the area to go for a drink where they actually earn their tips, this place is at the bottom of my list. Will be making complaint reports to agencies interested as I feel this hasn't been resolved and the same person still is allowed to handle money and continue this charade. I don't think I'm the first person this has happened to based on her reaction, and I sure don't think I will be the last by how this was handled. You are better than this Illegal Pete's, from a long time...
Read moreGrumpy service and outrageously priced sub-par food. I went for a breakfast burrito. I understand that they are a little pricier because it's downtown, but it's 4 x the price of a far superior burrito in Little Mexico a mile away. The tortilla was tough and dry. I'm not sure if it is because it was old, or cheap, or because they didn't heat it before starting the burrito. Then, they charge you extra for green chili. How can you even call it a breakfast burrito if it doesn't include green chili? Then they barely add any potatoes so it is all eggs and it was luke warm because everything in it was cold except the green chili that I paid extra for. I might not have been inspired to sit down and write such a negative review if the service had been marginally friendly, but they were flat out rude. There was no one else there when I went and they griped at me for looking to see what kind of salsa they had before decided what to order. (I asked them first and they said they would tell me after I started my order.) That wasn't the only thing, they were just all around...
Read moreGoing to a ticketed event like a Rockies game, concert, show? You get a free margarita with your ticket if you buy a meal. Go here, its Chipotle style but better, burritos, bowls, nachos, quesadillas and a full bar. The food is delicious and affordable. It is right down the street from Coors Field, absolutely walkable. I think you’re allowed to bring their burrito into the ball field now. Check with them. They have a Rock n Roll atmosphere with music on always. It’s a local favorite. My friend really likes the nachos as they smoother them with meat and cheese. I usually get a beef rice bowl, it comes with chips that I can use to scoop up food from my bowl to create my own nacho. They have a full bar that has craft beer and mixed drinks and a really fun staff that is engaging. Illegal Pete’s is amazing at supporting music. They provide free meals to any band, artist that goes into their place. If you are in a band and playing somewhere here in Denver, reach out to Illegal Petes to get your free entrée and drink. Go to their website to get all the details on the Starving...
