This is a wonderful church that I highly recommend that people attend. They are inclusive and loving. As a blind bisexual man, I felt loved and accepted, and this will be my church home while I am in Denver. Whether you are a conservative or a progressive, they will accept you. Regardless of your sexual orientation, they will accept you. Regardless. If you have any disabilities, they will accept you. The music is really easy to pick up, + it is wonderful and not like one of those churches where it's overly too loud. There are tons of opportunities to serve. There is also an lgbtq group that meets on Wednesdays. The sermons are thought-provoking and insightful. Communion works like this. The bread is gluten free, + you can dip the bread in either wine or juice. On every third Sunday of the month, members who want to participate or even if you're not a member yet, can go to The Green room. And if you have prayer requests or want to pray with the people there, you can join in prayer. Like I said, I highly recommend this church. They are all inclusive, loving and accepting. Services are on Sundays at...
Read moreI’m using a throw away account for this. I’ve been going to this church for a few years and been involved in varying programming and small groups. I have never felt like I fit into any of them and recently gave up. I started to realize that everything feels very white savior complex which is why you will hear a lot of talk about helping the “other” but no people of color actually present. I have heard people of color say similar things about this church in other circles as well. It’s great if you are the type of person who reads a self help book and then suddenly acts like you have a PhD on the subject. These people are great at pretending they care but disappearing when times actually get hard. Also great music honestly. They have also had three long term leadership staff members leave in the last few months, including all of the women in leadership….. so yeah curious to see what...
Read morewish I could give 0 stars. I have gone to this church on and off (I also lived out of state for a lot of that time) for at least 10 years. most recently, I came back and tried to meet with the pastor to get help and support around my disability and related issues.
Spoke to the pastor over the phone at first and then he refused to meet with me after that. I kept pushing and he finally agreed to meet with me, and promised to follow up after, and instead ghosted me.
So unimpressed. The people at the services are also not friendly and will not introduce themselves or be friendly if you do try to introduce yourself and talk to them after a service. Very cliquey.
Best of luck, DCC. To the people reading this, go somewhere else that better exemplifies...
