I dont think I've posted a review for a restaurant in years but I have to after fridays expieriance. I come periodically to Denver and with the abundance of restaurants you'd think customer service should at least be on par or beat the competition. Came to have dinner during happy hour. I get it, its busy and the pandemic doesnt help. I heard about this place from a friend. Sat upstairs and waiter came to greet us. Visit 1 Told him both our phones were not reading the QR code. Heavy set guy with dark features. So he asked us to try again using the wifi. Visit 2 On his next visit Wifi was being spotty so I told him I still cant read it and asked for a paper menu. He asked us to try again and if it failed he would bring one. Visit 3 Still doesnt work and asked us to try again. Im in the biz I would never in a million years ask a customer to keep stressing with their phone if something isn't working to avoid handing out ONE paper menu. Thats 3 visits to the table only had one drink and no idea what the food menu looked like.
So we said forget it and ordered our second and last drink of happy hour and reserved a spot at another restaurant. I am not sure how coveted those paper menus are over there but they must be made of some expensive wood from deep in the woods of peru. Everyone else was seemed kind and the balcony had a cool view. Sucks that that particular staff member enjoys...
Read moreBar makes a nice attempt but ultimately misses the mark.
The good: Nice decor/design. Busy but quiet vibe makes this a decent date bar which seemed to the trend. Bartender was professional, friendly, quick and intuitive. Fish tacos were the best I’ve ever tasted hands down. Craft beers on menu selected well and on point.
Disclaimer: Before I get to the bad, note I’m grading this bar down because both their menu and some online list bill this place as a “Scotch bar” which is what I was looking for. They missed this mark though in my opinion.
The bad: Menu looked cheap and setoff a flag as soon as I noticed it. Scotch selection was limited and fairly generic. I didn’t really see anything unique scotch wise. Bartender complimented above was a solid dude, but his scotch recommendation missed the requested flavor profile completely suggesting either lack of options or lack of knowledge. It’s also a little strange how they give such a nice presentation to the scotch serving (separate dilution glass) but they don’t clarify neat or colossal )#@_ing iceberg. Again speaks to a half baked final product.
If you’re looking for a unique scotch tasting or to learn something about what your drinking, this is sadly not the place.
I’d go back for the fish tacos and a beer but would skip the “johnny...
Read moreGreat service and definitely a notch above your average bar fare. We stopped here for lunch on our way out of Denver and all enjoyed our meals! It's close to Coors Field and really stands out as a pre-game destination. The wait staff was great and the interior was unexpectedly nice and cozy. We started with the fried cheese curds, because, why not! :-) They were beer battered and delicious with some added goodies: fried pickle chips and fried jalapeno rings. We also had the Buffalo Cauliflower, which had a mouthwatering tangy buffalo sauce and some carrot shavings to go along with the ranch dressing. The mains were yummy, but the standout was the Cajun Turkey Gouda sandwich on a Hawaiian bun. Yum! Second to the turkey sandwich was the Shrimp and Grits that were also excellent! Yummy and delicious grits with plenty of cheesiness and some nicely seasoned shrimp to go with them. After that, the Portabella Burger was okay, but the mushroom could have been fresher and was a bit thin. The Glazed Sprouts were good, and there was an appropriate amount of balsamic glaze, but they also could have used a bit more seasoning outside of the glaze. All in all though, a great dining experience in a great location...
