We are so happy to see Sexton's Seafood Market is open again! As locals, we appreciate fresh seafood that is caught locally and not imported and passed-off as "fresh caught". You can tell by looking and smelling that the fish, shrimp, crab claws, scallops and other seafood were fresh from the boat. The local red snapper is unloaded at a dock blocks from the market.
Thank you for new additions of halibut fillets, boiled crawfish and boiled shrimp. The smoked tuna dip is the best in the area and on par with any Destin restaurant. Also, wanted to mention that the spices and sauces were on point.
Our family has chosen Sexton's for all of our seafood needs for years. We often see other locals there, and the counter people and workers in the back were raised in the area. They are knowledgeable and experienced and pricing is often better than grocery chains and other markets that are not offering near the quality. Some of the managers have been working there for years. I don't write hundreds of reviews, but our family chooses Sexton's for dinner at home or when...
Read moreThis place is the MOST amazingly clean and well run fish monger I've ever come across. Royal Reds for sale at 9.95 per pound and I am talking fresh off of the boat. White tile and iced down with impeccable care, this display is to die for. I was offered a peek into the back where they process the fish filleting and receive deliveries of their goods from the docks as they are PROUD of their place. Let me tell you about spotless like it was just built yesterday. No FISHY SMELL like this bonehead left as for a cut-down review, previously. I am in the restaurant business and know a well run operation from the back of the house to the front and this place is the bomb. So what they only take cash? When you have the best and freshest seafood around and can get by without paying the vig to Visa and Amex, well more power to you! Give this very well run business a try you will be amazed at the quality of the staff and furthermore, the only smell you can detect is that of the wonderful freshness of the sea and surf from the fish just plucked from the Gulf. ...
Read moreThe fish and shrimp seemed fresh enough and the people were nice but I had two problems.
They don't take credit cards. They also don't adequately post that they don't take credit cards. This is 2021. That is honestly inexcusable; especially in a tourist destination. They do have ATMs but enjoy the fees. They need to ask themselves honestly, how many sales a day they lose because they don't take credit cards. Square is free to set up, works well and charges a small fee per transaction. Their sales would increase significantly if the started taking credit cards.
They refused to peel and devein the shrimp even though they had a deveining tool sitting on top of the shrimp. The other place we usually go to offers that service for a fee which is reasonable. For a seafood market that is inexcusable as well.
The only reason I purchased from them despite these things is because it was mother's day and my wife wanted shrimp. I won't be going back unless they resolve these issues. I know they won't miss me but it's another sale lost to add...
