Service and quality has gone downhill. Shame on the management for leaving their team high and dry.
My first visit to Farmtable Kitchen was in Spring of this year before Covid and I went with a group of girls and we had the best time at brunch drinking and enjoying a great breakfast.
Last night I had a date night with my boyfriend and wow, something had gone horrible wrong . We arrived for our reservation and were greeted by Cheyenne and were seated promptly. Then, it took over 10 minutes for a server to come by. Charles finally came by and nice enough guy, but completely frazzled and stressed out and rushed us on our drinks. He brought our drinks 5 minutes later then comes back to say he's out of Pinot Noir and their coffee machine is broken. Interesting. I make a new wine order and we give up on the coffee.
Meanwhile, I see Cheyenne (another server) making coffee at the bar. Then another 40 minutes goes by while we had to wait for a salad and a brisket, and Charles is nowhere in site this entire time. The food finally arrives and Charles is still frazzled and fails to notice we need refills. The salad was decent but the brisket was as tough as beef jerky. It was so tough my boyfriend choked on it then I tasted it and it was just way overcooked.
I finally had enough and went over to ask for a manager. Cheyenne said she was acting manager since the owners were on vacation. We mentioned the many things that were going wrong. I asked about the coffee machine being broken and she said it wasn't broken at all and in fact brought us back coffee in less than 3 minutes. Then Charles came over and apologized and admitted he lied about the coffee machine. He said he was the only other server and completely in over his head and stressed out. I give Charles props for having the courage to apologize. However, the negative rating goes to the management for leaving their team to the wolves during the holidays. Where was a manager? Why were their only 2 servers working? Why were they out of so many item? The service was really a 1 star. I'm being generous to give it 2 stars.
Also, they had no to go boxes. They gave out literally sheets of tin foil to guests.
Sigh. Needless to say, it was a bad experience and I do not think I will bring my girlfriends, my boyfriend nor anyone else back for that matter any time soon. It's...
Read moreA couple friends of mine and I have had this menu saved for quite a long time and finally had a chance to make a reservation and go check it out. Got to the restaurant and we were the only table there. Awesome, love when a restaurant isn't packed. We sat down ordered a few drinks. Fresh lemonade and homemade sweet tea. Both were delicious. One of us was drinking and ordered this strawberry smash drink, very strange drink as all you could taste was a balsamic reduction. My friends are both from the low country. South Carolina specifically and loveeed the sweet tea. We probably took about 15 minutes to order. The menu is pretty large and had a really hard time narrowing it down. We decided on the roasted Brussel appetizer and the fried green tomatoes. Both were the best things we had the entire time. The fried green tomatoes were delicious. The Brussels were good, definitely burnt and more of just a Brussel crisp at that point but they still tasted good. We all were dying to try the orange blossom roasted baby carrots so we opted for the family sized portion to go with our entrees. We got the sweet tea braised short ribs and the fried chicken, we got mac and cheese, lavendar sweet potato mash, Yukon gold mashed and collard greens. I didn't even wait for the girls to take a picture before I bit into a bite of a baby carrot. My bestfriend looked up from her plate when she heard the crunch. The flavor was amazing. But we dug through and couldn't find any that were fully cooked. We did take them to go and plan on finishing cooking them at home because the flavor was bomb.com. we ordered 2 side salads, one side ceasar and one with this Dijon dressing. When they both came with the Dijon dressing and I asked for Ceasar I was told that the Dijon and Ceasars were the same. Never heard of such a thing. unfortunately we weren't really pleased with any of it the best was definitely the fried chicken. We boxed 90 percent of it up to go hopefully my boyfriend will enjoy it more than...
Read moreI never write reviews for restaurants but after my experience with the Farmtable Kitchen I thought it appropriate to write my first one. I came in hoping for a decent restaurant experience but ended up getting one of the worst dinners I’ve had in my life. I wanted one thing which seemed to be a popular menu option which was the chicken and waffles. Chicken and waffles are one of my favorite foods so I was excited to try their take on the classic American dish. Before ordering the dish my girlfriend and I decided to take it home because we were tired and wanted to go. As I was waiting I noticed how empty the restaurant was on a Saturday night and the clientele being made up of more older people. This is never a good sign but I already ordered my food and just wanted to get out of there. After getting my food I left to go enjoy my chicken and waffles at home and was excited to see if they lived up to the 24 dollar price tag. I got home and opened the box to find two small pieces of chicken, two waffles and some potatoes. The first thing I did was eat a bit of potatoes and found them over-salted and lacking any real flavor. Next I tried a bite of the chicken with some of the waffles and found the chicken dry and the waffles tasting of flour. The chicken by itself as I said was dry and had no real flavor besides some brown sugar that it had on it with it having the opposite problem of the potatoes, no salt. The chicken tasted like it was cooked a few days before and was microwaved or double fried, nothing tasted fresh. I felt like I was cheated out of my money and didn’t get what I paid for. Save your money and just go to IHop if you want decent chicken and waffles at least their food won’t be dry and flavorless. I will not be coming here again and spending my hard earned money on food from the...
