Bottom Line: I wouldn’t come back here. Service was very inattentive, orders came out inconsistently, and food wasn’t anything special.
Atmosphere: Mid-light ambience, light jazz music overhead, spacious.
Food: I got the Tom Kha Gai($12.95) with a side of rice($2.00). The soup was decent. I wish it came out hotter. The vegetables could have been cooked a bit longer, they tasted raw. The chicken pieces were cooked well, not too tough.
My brother got the Hot Som Tum(Green Papaya Salad, $11.95). The sauce/dressing wasn’t as sour as we’d expect, but the ingredients tastes fresh.
He also got the Masamun Curry with chicken($14.95). The flavor of the curry was decent, but the chicken pieces had an odd texture to it that I wasn’t too fond of.
My friend got the Chicken Pad Thai($14.95). This was slightly below standard from what I’m used to. The noodles were a bit mushy, but the chicken tasted fine and the freshness of the peanuts added a nice crunch.
Service: I’m not sure what kind of portions the wait staff is used to, but they told us that one plate would only satisfy one person when I asked. My friend and I are pretty thin, small eaters so we considered sharing a plate knowing that most restaurants of this culture provide heavy portions. That was the case with this restaurant, so we ended up having a lot of leftovers. I wasn’t too upset though considering that the prices were very fair.
Our dishes all came out at different times(talking main entrees, not appetizers). This caused us to have to wait on each others dishes to come out, letting our food get cold.
My brother and I asked for two bowls of rice with our orders. The forgot for both of our orders. They then took more time than necessary to plate a couple scoops of already made rice to serve us. I also noticed that our waiter ate a piece of rice off of his thumb right before using the same hand to serve me my rice which felt unsanitary.
Overall: If you don’t mind inconsistent service, I would recommend this restaurant. I personally wouldn’t come back here again solely based on the service. I wanted to give this place only two stars, but I decided to be fair with three since the food was standard and the...
Read moreThe best ever Thai restaurant! They have both authentic(Thai hot) and fusion ones you can try. I would say there is no reason to not go there if just talk about the foods.
However, you should expect more than 40min to wait when you already seated for your dinner especially on holidays and some server will badly ‘show’ off his knowledge on why we need so much time to wait.
We had 4 people there today, when we felt too hungry and wanted to kindly ask the server to check with the kitchen how was our food coming. The guy was blowing my mind and saying “everybody is waiting for their foods now” “this is the best we can do for you” “the chicken satay is the reason why your food is late”…I felt so awful for him and my friends felt a bit upset too, we talked a lot back and forth and he still couldn’t understand why we did inquiry and what we genuinely wanted from him, something just like “oh I will check back with the kitchen” “your food is coming no worries” or something else not acting like he is the boss.
Later on, he was for sure not the boss. Boss then came to us and apologized for that, she is very friendly and easygoing. We said that we understood the conditions for the holidays, we never wanted to blame it. That guy didn’t come to us again…
Honestly we should give more tips for hardworking kitchen guys, my friends felt too upset just gave a few.
Still a good Thai...
Read moreI am very happy to find this place as its probably the most authentic Thai food I've had in a while. Id give them a higher rating than 4 but 5 implies perfection and while they were great I cannot give a 5. The service is good but I'm sure they deal with lots of tourists because they seem politely indifferent. The Tom kha gai which is one of the first foods that made me recognize thai as one of the top culinary cultures was both amazing and fell short. The broth was spot on and it was just broth then it was perfect. However it's not just broth and I'm sure you can order with vegetables to be fair but I ordered it how it comes implied in the "Tom kha gai" with chicken. It basically only had chicken and mushrooms. Usually it has some other local veggies..this soup definitely varies depending where I order it whether it be in a province in Thailand or different parts of the "Americas" but to have only chicken and mushrooms is pretty boring and almost undesirable. That said I also tried the sampler platter which had a large variety of the appetizers and everything was great. The Chicken satay was another home run and I am looking forward to going back and trying more...
