I rarely write reviews, but my experience at Underground Chicken in Federal Way was so astonishingly bad that it feels almost like a public service to warn others. The name “Underground” couldn’t be more fitting, because the entire establishment looks and feels like it belongs beneath street level. The dining area was cluttered, grimy, and downright filthy. Tables were sticky, trash cans overflowing, and there was a faint smell that made you question whether anything in that kitchen sees soap or sanitizer. It’s the kind of environment where you hesitate to touch anything including the food.
The service somehow managed to be even worse. There were three staff members working on the floor, a young woman, a guy in a hat, and another younger boy with a styled, Korean-inspired haircut who stood out for all the wrong reasons. He was by far the worst of the three. The young boy at the counter was rude, dismissive, and completely uninterested in doing his job. No greeting, no urgency, just a glare that said customers are an inconvenience. Another customer waiting beside me was clearly frustrated too and with good reason. There’s no sense of professionalism, no pride, and certainly no understanding of what hospitality means.
When my order finally arrived, it was the final insult. The chicken tasted like something thawed from a freezer and microwaved until barely edible and bland, rubbery, and completely lacking in flavor. It’s amazing how a restaurant can serve food that tastes exactly like the environment it’s made in: cold, lifeless, and unclean.
This place needs a serious wake-up call. A full sanitation overhaul wouldn’t hurt either. Until they learn that cleanliness, respect, and edible food are the bare minimum for running a restaurant, Underground Chicken will remain exactly what it is a dirty, dismal experience best left buried...
Read moreAVOID AT ALL COST!!! This was one of the worst experience ive evr had at a restaurant. When we walked down the stairs all the guy did was point to a clip board, and hand signaled to put our names down. Not even a single hi or anything. After being seated it took the asian guy about 20 minutes to come back to take our order even after asking 2 times that we were ready. Throughout the service we had to constantly ask for more water and the check as it seemed like he never cared to properly take care of us. We had to ask for the check 3 times and each time he said give me a minute. 25 minutes or so passed and we had enough and just went right to the cashier. Upon walking up to the cashier I see the asian guy and another asian lady both waiters/waitress just chowing down on chicken wings. I was flabbergasted that they couldn't properly take care of us because they were busy eating food. Will never come back. The food itself was mid as well. We had heard good reviews of this place but our experience was extremely terrible. There are better Korean restaurants...
Read moreThis was my first time being here, after a friend recommended it, and I have to tell you the food here is great, and the portions are very large. This is a Korean style fried chicken spot with a lot of different food options. For two people we had two different orders of chicken wings, honey garlic and the half and half which was sweet and original. Then an order of seafood pancake, cheese corn and French fries. Not aware of how big the portions are, because there are no pictures of portions, just a couple pictures of certain chicken wings on the menu. We were not able to finish anything we ordered, so we had plenty of food to bring home. The location is downstairs of another restaurant that we found out associated with each other, so for people who can’t get up and down a flight of stairs you can order the same food from the restaurant upstairs, which is a bonus. All and all if you like chicken wings or Korean style food, I highly recommend trying...
