Café Del Hidalgo- Ice Cream, Food, And Drink — Restaurant in Florida

Terrible experience while visiting. My family and I came to visit St. Augustine for memorial weekend. We have been here a few times and have been to the cafe before but have never been treated with such rudeness and disrespect as now. After a long afternoon of walking around the town we decided to get ice cream we headed out to the cafe. Once we got there it took a while for someone to even acknowledged we were waiting we were ignored for a while. we let it go it thinking it's a Sunday afternoon and they must be tired. We ordered our ice cream and took a seat inside waiting for the rest of our party. My nephew and my brother were out buying fries for my 7yo nephew and my 1yo niece. They did not know about their no outside food policy and we were not aware of it at the moment. Before even entering the cafe a staff member from te café rudely told my brother and nephew to get out of the restaurant with that food. My brother tried explaining he didn't know about it and that it was only food for his kids. The lady responded rudely infront of my 7yo nephew that it was none of her business if he was hungy and hot she didn't want them there. My brother walked away and sat at the tables outside the cafe. On the side of the cafe. He was not bothering anyone nor was anyone trying to sit there. It was just him and my nephew. The lady came to him again and told him he needed to get away from there that she didn't want them sitting anywhere near the cafe Again my brother tried explaining he didn't know that was part of the restaurant and since no one was sitting there if he could just let my nephew finish his food. She said it was none of her business if he was hungry for him to grab his son and get out of her property. My brother asked not to be rude in front of his son as he didn't want him to feel embarrassed In front of the people walking around them. She in response got loud and told them to get out of her property that they were never welcomed there again. I will absolutely never come here again. There is so many ways she could have handled that. Especially in front of a child. It took absolutely nothing from her for them to eat their food...

I was just recently at this place looking to buy some water more specific, Perrier water. I asked the cashier behind the bar at the register if I could have two bottles of water which she brought up the transaction at the register and told me it was $8 and change and I gave her two $5 dollars bill. She gave me the change and told me to grab out of the refrigerator. And I told her there was none in there and she turned with some attitude, I didn’t like that. When she went to look in the refrigerator the other person said he was the manager and apologized not having any water in there because they were busy. -Which is OK! Before that she asked me if I wanted the money back because no She thought they had a no more water. I told her yes I handed back the changes she put in my hand to her hand and in the meantime the other person told me that they had to water but not cold and I told if they had to go glasses with ice would be okay.I and walked away and the girl kept my change never reverse the transaction and kept the change. 10 minutes lady walking back she said she never had the money and didn’t wanna do anything about it. I explained to the other person what’ve happened and it feels like you are annoying them. The girl turns to me and say I cannot believe you came back for a $1,00 dollar. Now it’s my turn to say publicly what I think about that. People take for granted just because you’re a tourist, it doesn’t matter what you do, what they do, they just wanna make sure to get your money out of your pocket not being responsible or being nice regardless, no customer service is provide to the clients! It is so sad to see a such beautiful place with people(works) and business that only wants your money. Unfortunately that’s the reality, the unattachment from Humans it is amazing.it happened on...

The waiter seated us and then we patiently waited 5 minutes for someone to get our drink order. Then after more then 25 minutes our drinks were never brought to us but a salad that was for another table was set down on our table and still no drinks yet. Also he had sat a sandwich in front of us that was for another table and during the covid pandemic what does he do he takes this sandwich and still delivers it to the correct table. At this point I decided we would find another place to eat. As we are walking out the door the owner insist we pay for this salad yet we hadn't ate anything and no drinks wherever delivered. But being patient my wife decides okay I'll just go ahead and pay for the salad we'll avoid conflict and go our way.So my daughter says well if you're making us pay for the salad we need a to go box. He proceeds to tell my daughter it's best if she quit talking. At that point I was amazed and he keep babbling something so I told him okay fine let's get it paid for and you can shut up now. He tells me stop being belligerent sir I'm thinking wow I haven't raised my voice and he is being very rude to my daughter and this is the worst attitude I've ever experienced. He proceeds to start talking some more I said aren't you going to shut up not you say it's best no speaking anymore. He starts yelling for me to leave his restaurant or he will call the police. I couldn't help but laugh at this point knowing we could have very well continued walking out of his restaurant as we didn't eat or drink anything. The other customers that had been waiting for a while also began getting up leaving. And another customer that was walking in decided he would need there either. I usually will give a restaurant a second chance but in this case there is no way I will ever consider spending my money...
