Worst pizza place EVER. I have never been harassed like that by someone In the service Industry before. My boyfriend and I went to grab some food before heading to the movies down the block. We pop In and I see a few nats on the pizza so I order something else, It was Eggplant (some Italian name), anyway the eggplant was disgusting, It was soaked In tomato sauce (which was actually not bad) but the eggplant was the center of the dish so It didn't matter that the sauce was good the main Ingredient was soiled, I didn't even throw a fit about the eggplant and get my money back like I usually would I Just figured hey more room for popcorn at the movies. I misunderstood the menu anyway I thought there would be pasta In the dish, I should have asked. They noticed I didn't eat my meal, I guess the security guard? Maybe one of the cooks? Asked what was wrong with It. And he was nice and funny about It and made my boyfriend and I laugh but then I assume the owner came over and asked what the problem was, I explained to him there was no problem and about my misunderstanding of the menu and how I didn't favor the eggplant. He very bitterly and aggressively starts to defend his eggplant dish and talks down to me as If I came off like I even knew what I was talking about when It comes to food, I wasn't being rude I Just didn't like the dish. Instead of being like hey I'm sorry you didn't like that can I make you something else? He didn't even think to offer me one of the rubbery stale pizza's he had drying out under the heat lamp. How rude. Very awkward and hostile environment do...
Read moreEasy to find, with convenient parking nearby on Lamar or Taylor. Lunch is from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, but they are open until 9:00 pm on week days and 10:00 pm on Fri-Sat, which is great because most of the other restaurants in the vicinity have lunch hours only during the week. That's how we came to dine at Picchi to begin with. It was just after 4:00 pm and everything else was already closed.
The aroma hit us long before we walked through the door. This is authentic Italian cuisine, made by Italians who greet you from behind a serving bar when you arrive. There's pizza by the slice and various pasta dishes ready to serve as well as an overhead menu to order from. We chose to look at the full menu, which we easily found at the ordering area.
It's a casual dining environment with nice ambiance. Seat yourself options ranging from standard round tables, bistro tables, a few booths or street-view bar style seating for those who love to people watch or are dining alone. There's some interesting memorabilia for the eyes to take in; our guess is these items came from the old country. The bathrooms are clean and functional. No changing tables, but this shouldn't affect many people in the business district.
I had the Chicken Parmigiana and my companion had the Sausage Calzone. Both were excellent. The cost is very reasonable for the quality of the food. Free drink refills if you like, and styrofoam cups to go... just ask.
If you can't dine in, you have the option to call for carry out or they deliver for free on orders over $20. The restaurant is...
Read moreNo Doubt the best Pizza I have had in the DFW Area. I like to go and get 2 slices and some ranch on the side. Unforgettably delicious. Family run, looks like there are lots of other good things there. I did have a couple of other things there but I try not to mess with perfection. I tried a canoli and it was good I guess, but I have never had one outside of the grocery store or a party, and this one was better than either. The calzones looked good too, but I didn't try them. The Pizza crust is so delicious and folds nicely for extravagant dipping. I don't think I could eat more than 2 slices and I can seriously eat. The service has always been consistent and I have never had a slice that wasn't perfect, and I go there several times a year. I hear they are moving to Southlake, so I'm really glad! I don't know why this shouldn't end up on every one's favorite place for a slice. I wanted to address the surprising reviews regarding customer service - I notice that these are mostly nightlife customers. Apparently this place is open until 3am in downtown Fort Worth. That's a good way to acquire some less than favorable reviews. Tempers flare when it is late people are tired and you add alcohol. I always go at lunch or early dinner time, and have never experienced anything like the reported poor customer service. But then again if I order pizza at midnight it's gong to be from my...
