A good friend of mine booked us a dinner reservation for a Saturday night. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised and very impressed with this restaurants scenery, views, and atmosphere.
Parking was easy to locate and convenient. We parked on the second floor or the parking garage and the entry doors to the building said “Branch and Bird.” There was an elevator that took us directly to the restaurant entrance.
The interior was very nice! Simply decorated, clean sheik seating, dimmed relaxed lighting… the atmosphere was great. They also have a HUGE covered patio area that overlooks the city and beautiful night life & lights!
Our server Summer, absolutely amazing. She was so sweet, attentive, and knew her stuff! I never hesitate to ask questions when it comes to a menu. What is the most popular dish, what would you recommend, what dish have the best flavor profile. She was able to answer all my questions in full detail; love that.
Collectively, we tried the Ceviche Tostada, Salmon Toscana, and the Creole Redfish.
The Ceviche Tostada was great. It was $18 for 3 tostada’s. My friend and I agreed it had a ton of flavor. I definitely recommend ordering this appetizer; it’s filling, flavorful, and worth the money!
My friend ordered the Salmon dish. She gave it a 7.5/10. The salmon was cooked well but not very seasoned or flavorful as expected. I ordered the Creole Redfish and can say unfortunately it did fall flat. The fish could have used more seasoning whereas the risotto could’ve used much less. The creole sauce was good and the tastiest element of the dish. A positive was, when I mentioned the risotto was extremely salty I was given mashed potatoes as an alternative.
Overall, although 2/3 of the dishes fell short, I personally would love to go back to try more of their menu. It is a great restaurant, amazing service, and a good menu with potential.
I hope this...
Read moreI have to admit I started from a recommendation from Tyler Vonderheide and appreciated what he said; I couldn’t stay away…
This was a date night and I had high expectations. This place is a destination spot for a night out in Ft. Worth!
The skyline view from the 12th level Sky Lobby of the Frost Tower Ft. Worth is a very welcome change of pace and perspective, and just feels special as soon as you exit the elevator and glide into it.
I read that they have live music on Saturday nights and I was lucky enough to be able to go on that day of the week, which is rare for me.
The menu is concise and elegant. Enough said.
Starter? Ceviche Tostada. Hands down, one of the best I’ve ever had next to sitting on a 20 foot SCUBA dive boat off the coast of Belize after spear fishing.
The first entree is the Salmon Toscana. This wonderfully thick filet was cooked perfectly and had wonderful flavor, tenderness, and consistency. I particularly appreciate a nicely wilted spinach and they delivered in outstanding fashion.
The second entree was on the turf side to compliment the aforementioned surf. Chef’s Selection Filet Mignon paired with mashed sweet potatoes with spinach and asparagus. Melting in your mouth, each bite is an experience you just want to hold on to. Given the depth I felt in this and overall impression of it’s presentation, I would place a bet that it was sous vide in preparation. The spinach was equally as wonderful as the dose from the other plate and the asparagus retained the perfect amount of texture.
I notice various things in restaurants, and am very impressed with the style and presence of the Venu flatware. Simple and elegant, it actually became a conversation piece on it’s own. The knives are comfortable and well-balanced, yet durable, I’m sure.
Do I need to even say it? Make a...
Read moreOverall - the atmosphere was literally the best and most unique thing about this place. I believe you're on the 12th or 13th floor and get to overlook the city. The service was solid and the food was decent.
Food - They had a nice variety of options that were unique in their own way. We did like the appetizer more than the entree. The appetizer we got had more flavor and was better tasting. The reason I gave the food 3 stars is because the steak she got did not have that much flavor, but it was cooked to the perfect rare temp that she wanted. The steak had a nice sear, but just tasted bland. The sides tasted amazing, she had mashed potatoes and spinach was really good. I had a short rib pasta, again it tasted well but I probably wouldn't get it again. I felt like I needed to add more seasoning to the pasta cause it just tasted bland.
Portion sizes - they were good and filling, but didn't make you feel bloated. So that's good.
Service - our service was solid. We sat outside on the patio, so it seemed slightly not as frequent than normal, but some people may like that - meaning someone that does not always come and check on you. However, they were attentive and even let us keep our own water pitcher. The manager came by and he was super cool. Overall, I thought they were good people.
Military discount - yes.
Adult beverages - probably one of the best parts of the meal. The beverages were strong, well priced, and had flavor. They nailed that part. I had their old fashion and their tequila drink. My lady had their rum drink. We were riding the wave and enjoying the breeze and sunset outside.
Price - for us 2, the final bill was...
