Let me address the service first, off the bat just bad. I sat at the bar and ordered a drink and when i was ID'd the waiter had the nerve to try to check me for my name, as if i wasn't wearing a giant badge that had my name on it that matched my ID. And i know he was trying to check if i had a fake, because he didn't ask anyone else their name for their food and they didn't ask me my name when they brought the food out finally. Emphasis on finally; i got a lunch order of the etoufee, with half shrimp half chicken, and it took about half an hour for it to actually come out. I also ordered half a dozen raw oysters, for reasons i will explain in the food section, that came out without being detached from the shell and without an oyster fork to do so.
The food....mediocre at best. Like I said, i got the etoufee and it was a tad bit too soupy for my tastes, but that's my personal preference tbh. Now, maybe this is because I ordered from the lunch section, but the actual portion size i received was pitiful. I paid $10 for what was essentially a kids plate. I figured the whole point of a lunch "special" would be to let you try something for a cheaper price at a time when they might not be as busy as usual, but apparently it just serves as a second kids menu. The normal price was $13 so it's not even like they were doing me a favor unless that's actually the size of the plate they give out for a normal meal, which is, like i said, pitiful.
However, the main issue i had with it is that the flavors were all there, just not balanced very well, and they were fairly light. When i think of Cajun food, I think of an explosion of flavor, and this was FAR from that, but i wouldn't say it was bad.
That's more than I can say for the oysters. Terrible. I ate 2 of them and the other 4 were either strangely warm, strangely liquidy, and/or just off tasting. One of them felt fibrous and that's a big no go for me. Complete waste of money. I will give them the kudos for supplying ample saltine crackers to go with it, and their cocktail sauce was banging, but that's about it.
Where i think this place really shines is its atmosphere. The music is great. The ambiance is great. Good amount of tvs to watch a game on if you're into that. Probably a good place to knock a couple beers back, so at least it has that going for it. Oh, they also have outdoor seating that's shaded so you can enjoy the bustle of Fort Worth around you as you dine.
TL;DR: food is mediocre, service is not the best, but it's a great place to go watch a game or just chat and catch up with someone. Maybe to people watch outside. Think the Applebee's...
Read moreOrdered 2 Cups O' Gumbo chicken and andouille, what a joke! I place the order via Uber eats which did there part as they should have but Razzoo's should not just be ashamed of their horrible product but embarrassed as well. I only received one of the Cup O's Gumbo and how sad it was. The entire entree they delivered measured 3/4 a cup and was 90% rice and 100% cold. Like straight out of the fridge cold. I also added garlic bread which too was cold and a 1 inch by 1.5 inch also stale piece of cardboard. They were so generous to include saltines which were a larger serving then the entree and bread together. And for this portion not even exceptable for a 1 yr old child's meal what was my cost. $16.00. This is the third meal in a row I had delivered and all were pathetic. It seems restaurants have decided that since we are not eating there or picking up ourselves it's perfectly fine to just short change our order and not give the same quality as we would get eating there. Well news flash restaurants, use you little narrow mind and realize the same people ordering delivery are often the same people eating in your restaurant and know what they should be getting. So your laziness and attempt to cut corners cost you a dine in customer as well as a delivery customer. Wake up and get some customer service and realize whether dine-in, carry out or delivery all methods of customer orders should be treated the same. Even worse is you charge more for the delivery item then I would pay with either other method and served me less. Well guess it's time to find a replacement for Razzoo's. You will not be missed I can guarantee!
Wait I totally forgot the best part. Since the food was meant for 2 adults and was not even enough for 1 small child I did what I should have done to begin with. I had a box of Zatarains Gumbo in the cabinet that I paid $1.94 for, in the fridge I had half a package of Aidells Cajun Style Andouille and left over rotisserie chicken. So about $4 in meat. Threw it in a pot and 30 minutes later I had 10 full cups of Gumbo for $5.94. Razzoo's $16 discrase also took 1hr 43 min to receive. Sad even is hands down the boxed product was 100 times better. My son got home and I gave him a blind taste and he loved the boxed item and found the Razzoo's product to be undesirable and had a overwhelming awkward spicy taste that made the item unpleasant to eat. Way to go Zatarains Gumbo $5.94 for 10 cups vs Razzoo's $16.00 for 3/4 of a cup. You should be...
Read moreFood was very good. Had grilled oysters and fried pickles for appetizers. The pickles were very good. The oysters were ok. The flavor was good but they were a bit rubbery which means they overcooked but were still ok. For our mains, we had shrimp & grits, and a burger. They were both very good. Our waiter, Tyrone, was outstanding. One glitch is that I wanted to use a coupon for a free appetizer (which is advertised on their website). The coupon states that it cannot be used for crab cakes or combined with other discounts. I asked Tyrone specifically if it could be used for the fries pickles and he said yes. When he brought the check, he apologized and said his manager, Cheyenne, told him that the free appetizer would not be honored because I ordered a combo from their menu. On the menu, it’s listed under the “Bayou Bargains” section and she said that was a discount. But it was on the regular menu and I don’t see how that’s interpreted as a discount. Plus I specifically asked if the coupon would apply before I ordered and was told yes. I asked Tyrone to check with Cheyenne again and let her know that I was not happy. He went to check with her and came back and told us that she said we had to pay for it. Cheyenne did not even have the courtesy to come out and talk to me. I would have given a 5 star rating if it wasn’t for Cheyenne. It’s a shame that the kitchen staff and sever worked very hard only to have management ruin the customer experience. It’s also disappointing how she sort of threw Tyrone under the bus instead of honoring what he told me before we ordered. As someone who is a management professor, business textbook author, and has done supervisory training for over three decades, my advice to the owners is to invest in some training for...
