We love going there because their food is delicious, but today’s experience with the GM Megan was the worst! We go there because we have dogs and they are dog friendly! My baby Delilah barked because she wanted food, then Dallas barked because she barked! So they both barked for a few seconds! Then the GM comes without telling me who she is and said your dogs are barking excessively and they can’t be in here anymore! Mind you we were already outside eating, we had just barely received our food, so I told my husband when he came and was about to start eating that we had to leave! He motioned the lady to come and he asked why were we told to leave, and she said your dogs are excessively barking which they weren’t and I was done listening to her because she was lying about my babies barking excessively! Yes they did bark, that’s what dogs do they bark, but they weren’t barking excessively! They normally bark a few times then they get quiet! We paid our bill and the waiter wasn’t aware of what had transpired, he said she normally warns people and second time she tells them to leave! We never received a warning and if it wasn’t because of our waiter we would have never known that the lady was in fact the GM and her name is Megan! Never again will I set a foot inside that establishment! The way she came across without introducing herself and stating who she was, plus her tone was very much unprofessional! If she would have gone about this in a different manner I would return, but not if we are going to get treated in that mannerism! Plus she was talking about us to other staff, I was sitting diagonally so I could see that! If she wanted to talk about us she could have done it behind close door! Rude, unprofessional, and zero customer service coming from the GM Megan! The waiter was...
Read moreI had posted a negative review from a visit a little over a year ago. I returned to the Auslander today with some people from out of state and had a good experience.
We beat the lunch crowd by a few minutes arriving around 11:30, got our order in, and the food ready in about 15 minutes. I ordered something I hadn't had tried here before, the stuffed cabbage rolls with the German potato salad, and spatzle for my sides.
I tried the German potato salad first, which was cold on my previous visit. This time the temperature was hot, bacon was crispy and had a good amount of sweet and sour flavor to it. (Its the sliced disc type with sweet and sour sauce). Then the spatzle which could have used a bit more breading and butter for flavor but was also decent enough, and lastly the cabbage rolls.
The cabbage rolls were pretty good, I was surprised there wasn't more cabbage to them, it seemed like a single leaf wrapped around the rice and ground beef, which was a bit disappointing, but the wine and mushroom sauce on top was pretty good.
The portion size of my plate was decent, I left full at the end of my meal, but would have liked to have had more cabbage on the cabbage roll.
This was one of the better meals I had eaten at the Auslander, and was definitely and improvement over my previous visit as far as service, wait time, and food quality.
My travel companions ordered the chicken fried chicken and the Opa's sausage sandwich with home fries, and green beans. All 3 commented their sandwiches and chicken were really good.
Our waitress checked on us numerous times during our visit. We were offered drinks to go, and the option to order desert at the end of our meal. The wait staff was on the ball this visit.
The Auslander has gone back to my #1 choice for German food in...

Our friends and my family cam here to have some beers. It's 4:45pm. They are NOT busy. It's raining out and we were told they would not just serve us beers. First they were rude to my wife. I asked to speak with the manager, whose name is Louis. I told him we would like to have a seat inside since it was not busy. He responded by saying that it's their holiday policy to not let people have drinks at their tables inside. I responded abruptly to let him know a review would reflect our experience. He responded with, thank you and turned away. Even more rude. I did not raise my voice and I gave him the opportunity to make the right choice. We will not go back. I recommend people vote with their dollars.
2022 review The Jager schnitzel was cooked well and was moist and the breading was crispy the way it should be. The Jaeger sauce with mushrooms that covered the schnitzel was no good. Tasted like ramen broth from those little 20 cent packs we ate in college. The Rouladen was "okay", not great, but had a really tasty gravy. Wife and I decided that gravy on the Rouladen would have been much better on the Schnitzel. The Sauer kraut was bitter and was a tiny serving. Hot potato salad with no bacon and just really didn't have a good German flavor to it. We didn't finish the sauerkraut or the potatoes as seen. That's unusual for us. Spatzel that went with the Rouladen was actually incredibly tasty, even by itself. With the gravy sauce, even better. Beers were standard, but weren't as cold as they could be. No German music in the biergarten, but it was fine. Two beers, two entrees for $70 plus tip. I don't think we have any...
