6/4/2024 To the owner. My couple and I drove an hour to Fredericksburg. We usually como to this place for the pretzels, the beer and the food. This time the service was very disappointing. We got there at 4 p.m. The place was not busy and there were open tables. The host a short woman with a black sweatshirt (Mabel) didn’t say hi to us, she limited to ask if we were going to have dinner or just appetizers (what? First time in my whole life that this happened to me). I told her that we wanted to start with appetizers and maybe we were going to order some food. She totally refused to seat us in a table because we were going to eat appetizers. She wanted us to have a seat in the bar (that it was busy) in two seats that were dirty. I told her for third time that we preferred a table and that possible we were going to eat (as we always do), she just laughed of me and asked an older woman. The older woman was not helpful either, she wanted to seat us in a table in the bar (the one next to the entrance) that it was dirty for someone that just left. I needed to ask her to clean it! She did it but also with bad attitude. None came to ask us for drinks, I had to raise my hand to capture the bartender (he had an ice popsicles shirt)attention. He came, he didn’t say hi, he was not friendly either, however in the end he took our order and gave us the service during the time that we were there. We were almost leaving when a different man (JJ) came to ask us if we needed something. He was very attentive and with great attitude unfortunately he was not there when we got to the place. I was very upset, we decided to finish our beer and appetizers and ended up having a great meal with excelente service in an Italian restaurant. We have been in this place several times, every time that we go to Fredericksburg we come to this restaurant however if the service and the new rules that they have are like this way I don’t think that I would go back. The dipping cheese was not enough melted. Owner, 1) When we got to your restaurant there were open tables and it was not rush time. The host refused to seat us in the restaurant area. All restaurants offer appetizers first and then the entrees. Why not to consider your customers? Do you or your hosts know that appetizers stimulate appetite? 2) The young host doesn’t have criteria, she doesn’t know about customer service, bad attitude and she was disrespectful (she was laughing when I explained her that we wanted a table) 3) You DON’T invite your customer to seat in tables that have not been cleaned. 4) First restaurant that refused to give us a seat in the area that we preferred. 0 customer service. 5) I usually leave the restaurants with this kind of service immediately, my couple convinced me to stay. We never had this situation before in your restaurant. Very disappointing.

I was excited to eat at "the oldest brewpub in Texas," and perhaps may have set my expectations too high. We arrived on a Thursday evening around 6ish, and only had to wait about 10 minutes (expected wait time of 20-30mins) which was great. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. Our server, while polite, seemed to be overworked - his area seemed huge, and as a result, everyone in his zone received substandard service. I'm not sure whether someone called in sick or whether this bus standard staffing. However, it is spring break, and that probably should have been considered. We placed our food order (for a party of 5) at the same time our drink order was placed. I ordered a flight and my wife was waiting to try one of my beers before ordering a pint of her own. Our food arrived (pizza, chicken fried steak, salad, soup, and pretzel) about 10 minutes before my beer did. I don't understand how the food could have been cooked so quickly and served to us before beer could have been poured. The beer was okay - I was looking forward to the "creamy honey" ale, but was very disappointed as it was neither creamy nor tasted remotely of the local honey listed in the tasting notes. As the night went in, service seemed to improve slightly, but I expect that was due to people leaving and our server's workload lessening. Again, with a brewpub that boasts itself as being the oldest in Texas, this seems like it might be a McTouristTrap, and I've learned my lesson. In the end, we got food and beer in our tummies, but I don't think I'd go back.

Would not recommend. 2 stars only because the food was "ok", nothing to write home about, though, & their to-go service was absolutely horrible. We placed an order over the phone & were told it would be ready in 20-25 minutes. Upon arrival, only one of our menu items was brought out, a thin, dried-out looking slab of meatloaf with no sides. Once staff was shown what our order should consist of, the rest trickled out, all told about 45 minutes+ after the order was originally placed. Presentation was horrible & just looked like everything had been slopped haphazardly into the to-go containers. The Just Enough appetizer for $9 was one small link of sausage & a few cubes of cheese, when the menu showed it should have come with one side & a roll, however, neither of the latter were included. The Cheddar Ale soup & Scotch egg were both tasty, but the egg seemed a little pricey at $7. The coleslaw it came with was flavorless until we added the Creole-mustard sauce that came with the egg. We'd ordered the potato salad & red cabbage as sides for the meatloaf, but received double red cabbage instead. The red cabbage was just okay. Then to boot they couldn't accept cash as payment because they only had a card scanner at the front of the restaurant(???). Overall, just a very disappointing experience, & we surely won't be back or be recommending this restaurant to anyone. Highly recommend management do a better job of training staff.

Let me begin by saying this is a difficult review for me - it is seldom that I rate a restaurant this low.

Our visit started off excellent - the young man who was stationed as the host was able to quickly put a couple of tables together for us (group of eight) and we were seated in under five minutes. This I took to be a positive sign... and we were right in the middle of the restaurant - couldn't be better, right? Wrong... so very, very wrong.

We were seated for ten minutes before our server, Gera, decided he should stop by to say Hello and get our drink and app orders (remember- we are in the middle of the restaurant, impossible to miss). Our drinks did come out in a semi-reasonable amount of time, followed fairly decently by our apps... and then it all fell apart.

We all visited and laughed and enjoyed our conversations... and watched as the other tables got their meals, ate, paid, left, the tables had others seated, got their drinks, apps, ate... well, you get the idea. In the meantime, we have yet to get our food and only had Gera check back on us once, back waaaaay back, shortly after the apps had arrived. I finally chose to flag him down and ask about our food and he seemed... well, "confused" would be a good word to use.

About another two to three minutes passed by and our food miraculously appears. Everyone's seems to be okay, the plates are hot (no telling how long they may have been sitting under heat lamps?) and then my plate arrives and I get to be the lucky one who gets his order incorrect. It was a simple and easy fix, not that big of a deal - I had received a bowl of fruit rather than fries. I politely asked Gera if I could get the fries I had ordered rather than the fruit (remember- it's in a bowl) and I remove the bowl from my plate and set it to the side. Gera chooses to pick up the bowl of fruit and place it back on my plate and take the entire thing away... as a former server, I would have simply removed the bowl of fruit and brought out a bowl or plate of fresh fries so my guest could begin enjoying his long awaited meal with the rest of his party... apparently that is not how it is done at this restaurant. Once my plate of food was brought back I then found my food to be, shall we say... not hot... not warm... Goldilocks would not have been pleased.

As the dining experience continued it did not get better. We finally flagged Gera down yet again to get our tabs and discovered that the automatic 20% gratuity had been added to all of our tabs (three total) since we were a party larger than six. Now, that seemed to explain quite a bit I suppose. Sad that my mind immediately goes there... but again, I've seen it before. Gera was guaranteed a tip, so why should he care...

So -- my advice (if you've stuck with this review this far) --- stay away from here. There is much, much better food in fantastic Fredericksburg and certainly superbly superior service. This is a...

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Got into a hotel in Fredricksburg on Jan.23rd.2023. We decided to ask the hotel receptionist if she could suggest a good and fun place to have a meal and a beer. She recommended Fredericksburg Brewing Company. I wasn't to sure if they were open and if so until what time. It was 6:50pm called the establishment and they mentioned that they may close earlier she mentioned it would be at 7:30pm. I mentioned if we came in 10-15 would that be all right . Her response was yes. It was only a 5 minute drive from hotel to the Brewing Company we arrived at 7:05. There was a sign on the door closed however the door was still open. We decided to walk in and were greeted by a woman and mentioned they were closed. I had mentioned I had a call with a lady and assured us we could still come as she mentioned it to us. She was not aware but did find the person to whom I spoke to. The female employee whom reassured us that we could still come, all of a sudden said she got the times mixed up instead of an early 7:30pm closure she meant a 7pm closure. We had a bit of an exchange in front of some of the still 1/4 full patrons in the restaurant. Asked for a manger and were told there is no one here. We were allowed to sit down and waited and waited for someone to come by bring us a menu and our order. After about 10 minutes I got up and went to the bar tender asked if we could have a couple of beers. He mentioned it was $14.00 I said ok and we would like to order some food. He mentioned the kitchen was closed. He was aware of the discussion I had earlier. I mentioned that my girlfriend and I all we wanted and also to make it easier for the kitchen is order there 3 sausage sampler. I had to plead with him he finally aggreged. So from then on the person attending the bar was also our waiter. And the other two waitresses never came over and or made eye contact. So finally the food came out and the bar tender threw and slid our sausage plate on the table (not exaggerating).

So now, how was the food? The sausages were made locally and were good. It came with two side dishes potato salad was very little of it and the sauerkraut was taken straight out of a glass jar or a tin can and just heated up. I There was no cooking or seasoning done to it at all. Horrible could not be eaten. I have been over 40 years in the service industry and never ever have I experienced anything...
