My husband treated me to an exceptional meal here during our July 4th holiday. Finding a five star meal in a small mountain town is no easy task and Vinny's truly rose to the challenge. We were seated at a window table - my favorite for people watching opportunities. The staff was friendly, but unobtrusive. The food, cooked by Chef Vinny himself, was absolutely amazing. I started with a Caprese Salad of heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and a basil drizzle. The tomatoes were perfectly ripe and tasted as though they'd been marinated in the delicious vinaigrette, infused with flavor. Quite possibly the best Caprese Salad I have ever had. Quite possibly the best course of the whole meal, so fantastic and fresh tasting was this salad! My husband's spinach bisque was rich, creamy, and delicious as well. But even he had to agree that the Caprese was slightly superior. Our entrees that followed, leg of lamb and lobster manicotti were very good. Minor quibble with the lamb, I ordered it medium and it came decidedly medium rare, with an emphasis on the rare. Generally speaking, I'm a medium rare kind of lady, but during pregnancy, I sadly must avoid meat that is cooked less than medium. On the note of being pregnant, I made several trips to relieve my bladder over the two hours we spent dining. No issues with the bathroom per se, but was slightly put off by the signs that remonstrated to NOT leave diapers behind in their trash can, but instead take it with you in your "wet bag." While I can certainly understand no one wants their restaurant to smell like used diaper, it is a bathroom after all and I can hardly imagine that once I'm using diapers for my little-one-to-be that I'll be thrilled to carry used ones around with me. Nor, as a restaurant patron, can I imagine that it is preferable to have a used diaper carried around inside the actual restaurant ("wet bag" or not) instead of left in the bathroom trash. Putting that oddity side to return to the meal, the hubby had a couple glasses of Malbec with which he was very impressed. When it canned to dessert, I was intrigued by the idea of homemade ice cream, but the flavors available - chocolate and vanilla - didn't excite either of us. However, the waiter was able to tempt us with the vanilla bean creme brulee and ohmygod am I glad he did. The custard was rich, creamy, just sweet enough, and had a delightful infusion of pure vanilla. The brulee was perfectly executed, with a couple sharp knocks needed with a spoon before it cracked. Yum to the nth degree. A couple minor negatives, but overall a truly excellent meal. If you happen to be in the Frisco area and in need of some unexpectedly fine dining, Vinny's will most...
Read moreAbout a month and a half to two months ago, we started planning our wedding. We are from Missouri, so there was just no possible way I could come by in person to pick out restaurants for us. I picked a sister restaurant to Vinny’s and was pretty excited it seemed like it was going to be great. About 2-3 weeks before I get informed that they would be under renovations but that he would talk with Vinny’s about taking my party on. It all seemed like it was going to work. The day prior to our wedding I was contacted by the manager Jenny, at least I’m certain that’s what she was..I had a lot going on! She proceeded to tell me things I wasn’t informed of the first time. I tried to make it easy for her and her staff and me and my wedding party. I tried to not be a huge pain in the butt. She has been nothing short of fantastic. She called me, texted me, kept me updated..ALL IN A DAY!!!! I got more information in one day from this manager, then I did in a month from the other one. She called Moose Jaw down the road for us for us to come for cocktails prior to since we were WAY ahead of schedule. Then we made our way down to Vinny’s.. this place is absolutely gorgeous. We had an AMAZING view. It was set up beautifully. And I wasn’t expecting any thing that Jenny had done. I wanted very low key and casual. But she went above and beyond. Vinny himself was helping bring food and drinks. She had another waiter helping named Rick, with a very majestic beard! All around the experience, staff, location and not to mention food was absolutely phenomenal. I couldn’t think Jenny enough!! I’m just so over the moon with how much they helped and did for us. We appreciate you, we Will ABSOLUTELY be back in the future. The food was amazing. I’m so sorry for being a pain, but I’m so glad it went this direction. We were extremely happy and pleased with everything. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!
I’d recommend this to anyone I know coming to...
Read moreI really don't like writing bad reviews but this place drastically changed from what it was before the location move. Our first experience there was phenomenal. It was so quaint and endearing. The food tasted like it was cooked with love and our waiter went above and beyond in taking care of us. Cut to this most recent Valentine's day. I was SO excited for the three course menu, everything described beautifully on the menu, and thank god because our waitress didn't take time to explain ANYTHING. I can be patient with someone that might be new to the job and might not be familiar with every single thing on the drink menu, but I don't think she really cared to take the time to memorize the special menu for Valentine's Day. And there were probably only like, 9 or 10 dishes. We ordered our drinks and shortly afterward ordered the rest of what we wanted to try off the menu. We waited probably 30 minutes or so for the first course, which might make sense if we ordered something complicated, but it really wasn't. The whole reason I'm giving this review is because our server never once cleared our table before brining out the first course... Like she just kind of plopped the food on our table and left. I worked in the industry for many years, mostly in the BOH, but I know how easy it is do something as simple as clear off a table before you add MORE plates to it. Very armature and unprofessional. I don't know the waitresses name because she never gave it, but she crucially needs some basic training in hospitality. I don't know if I'll ever take a chance on this place again, which is a shame because I really really loved it...
