Decided to take a trip to Galena, IL with my girlfriend last weekend and stopped at Otto's Place for a quick brunch before a day of exploring the town. If you have the same itinerary, you have to stop by Otto's. We originally got there around noon on Saturday, and we were told we had a 45 minute wait. We decided to explore the town a little bit in the mean time which was no problem since everything in Galena is by each other. We sat outside in the tent and it was very comfortable, with a hot cup of coffee depending on the day. My girlfriend ordered an omelette and I ordered the Otto's Benedict which was out-of-this-world. Substituting for the english muffin, they threw a buttery, fluffy biscuit under the eggs and bacon. It was topped with a creamy cheese sauce which put my taste buds on a different dimension; it's what you need for a day of exploring a town you're not familiar with. My girlfriend and I love to eat so we decided to order a side of biscuits and gravy, which you HAVE to do at every breakfast place. Their version had chunks of sausage in it which put it to the top of my list of greatest. If you want a taste of the full menu, get their early because they run out of certain food items on the menu. Does that tell you anything? Hope you enjoy!

My husband and I went to Galena and we always try to find little restaurants that are not chain restaurants and eat there. When we got there we found out there was a 45 minute wait which was no big deal. So we went and sat in the car and waited for them to call us. We went back after 45 minutes and luckily our table had just became available. We got seated right away and had water brought to us within just a few minutes of being sat. We looked at the menu and our waiter came over and explained about the daily menu for the specials. His name was Dylan and he provided the best service. Then he came back to the table into our order. We made a change while we were waiting for our food and he gladly did it without and he hesitation or attitude. When he brought our food he brought us our meal that we were sharing and an additional plate without us having to ask for it because he knew we were going to be sharing it and he brought us our cinnamon rolls into go containers. This is a very cute little restaurant by the Galena visitor center. I would highly recommend visiting there if you go, but I would make a reservation which is allowed.

I am SO glad we decided to check out Otto's as it was one of our stand out favorites from our first trip to Galena a few weeks ago. Ryan our server was so charismatic, knowledgeable and friendly sharing about the town, festivals, his favorite places to go, it was great! We ended up sitting at the bar which was such a fun experience and getting to speak with another local customer really made the visit feel comfortable like we were locals. And the food? Spectacular. I wish I had more room to try more things. The cinnamon role. You guys the cinnamon role. It *almost* envied my mothers homemade cinnamon roles. Holy cow so good. I wish I could have tried the pop tart too but I probably would have passed out from a sugar coma. Cold brew with the maple cold foam was yummy too. All in all, it was fabulous and I can't wait to go back :)

Nice, quaint, little treasure located right on the other side of the bridge. We came across this place after searching Google for a great breakfast. We loved our experience here... they were busy but got us sat in approximately 10 minutes none the less. We came for breakfast later than most and were able to avoid the rush. My wife and I both had meat omelets with American potatoes and shares a Cinnamon roll. We washed them down with a fee mimosas and everything was delicious. Out server was the best and was extremely knowledgeable and polite when answering any questions we came up with. We got our rolls in about 10 minutes and our main breakfast in approximately another 7-10. It's a little small so I understand there's generally a wait... However, they're definitely worth the time.

We finally made it to Otto's, it is great! I tried the bread pudding french toast...WOW! Husband and friend split the two different types of hash; we all agreed that the sweet potato was really flavorful! I want to try the Mac and cheese combo of flavors next time! They also give you a generous pour of liquor for your coffee if you like that combo!! Check out the art work on the walls as well, I was told it changes monthly. The other unique item is the history/story of naming the place! I also really liked the philosophy of the restaurant...wishing you enough. How true! Check out the place when you are in Galena...good parking at old train station. There are steps in to restaurant, so not wheelchair friendly.

We got lunch here on a Sunday. They were really busy, but really friendly. We put our name in, and then walked up the hill to Grant's home and did the tour, and came back before we were called. They seated us, and we had a great meal, with a great waitress. There is a neat little story behind the name. I'd really recommend this place, but plan your visit and or call ahead. They are only open until 2:00 (last seating 1:00) so it is breakfast and lunch. They had some really nice outdoor seating. If you have wheels, you might need to get an outside table, as it it an older building and the entrance would be difficult.
