I really don’t write reviews but this time I felt the necessity of doing it for couple of reasons Number one my kids and to prevent this bad experience of happening to other kids and parents as well, and for our Diversity Heritage which is growing and I feel there should be no place for discrimination, as a single mom I decided to take a gateway weekend with my kids to Galena where my 10 yr old daughter wanted to visit, on Sunday, April,4,22 we had Google local breakfast restaurant to support them , we came cross with this Breakfast place Otto’s’, I sow it had very good reviews (I wish I had read the reviews before then) it was our last day and wanted my kids to enjoy them selfs to a good breakfast to start our day , so here we go to this Otto’s’ place , while we enter the server look out us up and down with out even greeting us , making my 14 yr old feel uncomfortable and so he shout us out saying they were book for the rest of the day, but according to the manager which I called after they don’t take reservations only call ahead🤔 , it wasn’t even close to closing time , My 14 yr old daughter with anxiety asked if she was the reason why they denied service to us due to her skin color Because she has sense that by the looks from the server, seeing tears in my daughters eyes while my other 2 daughter kept quiet thinking there’s something wrong because we’re Mexican, I decided to call and ask for the manager, she told me that she knows they were pretty book for the day but said that they don’t take reservations only call ahead and that they specific recommended on there page where by the way I look every where and didn’t saw it , regardless I believe that called ahead is basically reservations 🤷🏻♀️, and well what about walk ins , then she said that they didn’t have tables for 5, is funny a restaurant always finds a way to accommodate I mean they invite you to come with family and friends for breakfast as advertised on there page 🤦🏻♀️ She probably hasn’t read that , when I mentioned I was going to write a review everything change and she offered us gift cards and of curse we didn’t accept, I would never go back to a restaurant that doesn’t have any kindness or humbleness to welcome kids but instead send the wrong message to them about Diversity Heritage!! The manager seem concerned about me writing this review, and of curse I read the reviews before even writing mine, for my surprise and peace of mind I wasn’t the only one that has experience this discrimination issue , but yes indeed the first one to experience the impotence feeling of seeing my kids hurt due to it!! As a parent I sure won’t recommend this place as a Tourist either because their staff has no respect for Diversity, and has a Daughter of God I would definitely won’t recommend a place that has no kindness, humbleness nor love for others regardless of the 100’s good reviews this...
Read moreThis place is an absolute gem! Do not, I repeat, DO NOT pass this place up! My wife and I stopped in on for breakfast our first day of a weekend in Galena, fell hand-over-heels in love, and returned every day thereafter...IT'S THAT GOOD! They have not only a delicious menu selection regularly, but also weekend specials, breakfast beverages, and a selection of homemade desserts (we tried them all)! The story behind the building, the restaurant name, and their philosophy, which is shared in a pamphlet on the table, just adds to the great vibe you get when you walk into this place. It's super-welcoming, and you can't help but smile when you walk in. It is not the biggest place, so I recommend you call ahead on the weekend and save yourself the wait, if possible. They've got two floors, and a couple of counters to sit at. The owners were great, one front-of-house, and the other cranking out amazing dishes like a machine. He never seemed stressed or rushed, and was just banging them out all by his lonesome in that kitchen. Everything we had was delicious, but you have to try the quiches! They're basically soufflé pies. So tasty and light, and different ones every day! Also highly recommended is the Lemon Ice Box cake (so yummy)! You really can't miss on the menu. Seriously delicious food, and the perfect vibe to start your day....Every day,...

If you have the same itinerary, you have to stop by Otto's. We originally got there around noon on Saturday, and we were told we had a 45 minute wait. We decided to explore the town a little bit in the mean time which was no problem since everything in Galena is by each other. We sat outside in the tent and it was very comfortable, with a hot cup of coffee depending on the day. My girlfriend ordered an omelette and I ordered the Otto's Benedict which was out-of-this-world. Substituting for the english muffin, they threw a buttery, fluffy biscuit under the eggs and bacon. It was topped with a creamy cheese sauce which put my taste buds on a different dimension; it's what you need for a day of exploring a town you're not familiar with. My girlfriend and I love to eat so we decided to order a side of biscuits and gravy, which you HAVE to do at every breakfast place. Their version had chunks of sausage in it which put it to the top of my list of greatest. If you want a taste of the full menu, get their early because they run out of certain food items on the menu. Does that tell you anything?...
