Not sure I’m exactly an affiocando of Greek food but I grew up with a Greek family and my last name is Greek so definitely consider it a part of my heritage. I have been now to a few Greek places in Houston and while I’ve found some good places Ekko’s is my favorite. I always get the gyros plate and the meat has great seasoning and I really like their tzatziki recipe. It’s also quite thick. They also give you a ton of meat with the gyros plate - probably enough for two meals - and the fries are awesome. They’re seasoned really well and when you get them hot out of the fryer they’re SO good. I’d kind of like more pita but who knows maybe they’d give you more if you asked. The pita also seems quite fresh and like they actually make it themselves (a lot of Greek places don’t).
Yes Ekko’s is in a gas station but in Texas that’s a feature not a bug. I don’t think I’ve lived somewhere that has more colocated food places with gas stations than Texas. Hey at least it’s not yet another taqueria. There’s a lot of room to eat...
Read moreWhile the food is good, unfortunately customer service is very lacking, I ordered 2 salads, a gyro and some grape leaves, the cashier never put the gyro in my order, I didn't even realize that she didn't, I pick my food and drive away, when I got to my job I realized the gyro was missing, I called for an explanation, she said just come pick it up, she even acknowledged she messed up and apologized, even offered a refund, I said well, that's but I prefer the gyro and I'll go pick it up, BTW this place is half hour away from my job, I drove back, when I got there she says: sir you never order any gyros, look at the ticket, and you can speak to my manager, he says since you never order I can't make it, I said: is not my mistake she forgot to put it in, and she then denied me ever ordering the sandwich, I just walked away, can't believe it, she really didn't even wanted to admit she made a mistake in front of her boss, funny thing she actually put the sauce for the...
Read moreThe food is authentic and delicious is not a strong enough adjective. Cozy, family owned and operated for forever. A Houston landmark that I hope never gets tired of being the best. The lady that runs the general store is always genuinely inviting, not the fake nice or shite attitudes from other places. The pricing is better than fair to the customer and they have the best variety of everybodys favorites and other items that I've only seen there. If I was more punctual I'd be a two a day customer but I run late to work on the reg and have to miss out on my fresh, never frozen(like some other better known Greek businesses in the area) Gyro. Don't miss out on the Demitri burger; named after the son of the owner it should be the best on the menu and in my opinion it is that and more. Bottom line real meats, you see them mold your ground beef into your patty and the bacon is like no other....
