I used to love the Blackrock, but it has been going downhill ever since Ryan left. We have had poor service on multiple occasions, once we were even told they would not make us a cheese plate because the kitchen was too dirty...We, for the most part, ignored the poor service and continued going as we loved the atmosphere and the selection of alcohol. After our last experience at the Blackrock we will not be going back, and we will make sure to spread our displeasure. It is somewhat understandable when an establishment has poor service (e.g., poor pay, inexperienced work staff, bad moods, etc.) and I have patience for that sort of thing. What I do not have patience for, is an owner who tries to swindle a customer out of money and when he gets politely called on it he treats the customer poorly. At first, it seemed like the mistake was made in earnest, but after the owner's response to the "mistakes" being brought to light, it becomes quite obvious that he has no problem taking advantage of his customers. We will not be going back, and I encourage all others to spend their money at establishments where the owners will not take advantage (Marcellar's , The Tap n' Fill, Idaho Brewing Company) and...
Read moreTo be honest, I only come here every so often for brunch on Sundays. I don't order the food. I have in the past, but my experience has been that they're really small plates for more money than I think they're worth, but I also didn't mind how everything tasted. It is worth mentioning that I haven't ordered food here in ages, so my info might be outdated. That being said, they basically are cooking in their little storage space. They made some tasty little gas bistro snacks, but I would never consider the place of I wanted a meal. I do think they have the best quality/bang for your buck on mamosa's. I also love their staff. Chuck, the owner, is so sweet he doesn't need to put sugar in hos coffee, and if he's there you might be lucky enough to see his dog Ollie. Olly. Ollie... I don't know how to spell it. When I go there, it is typically a woman named Amy behind the counter, and she is a friendly and genuine person. I believe it usually her husband in the back making the food on Sundays. I recommend popping in and having a drink. Its cozy, and they often have live music or trivia or something happening. They are also often just a calm place to sit and...
Read moreWe went on trivia night (unintentionally). Waited for staff to come to bar and serve us but they were nowhere to be found. Only guy that said a word to us was the guy on his laptop at the bar asking everyone trivia questions. Waited almost 10 mins for someone to come to the bar. We stood there waiting. And waiting....then we left and went to the other businesses on the same street for drinks, all of them were quick to serve us and the bartenders were actually behind the counter. Maybe this is a locals only bar.... but a paying customer is a paying...
