We arrived at this "hole in the wall" to be greeted with not only a page posting new hours on every door but also a full page of political blathering claiming how American and Patriotic they were regardless of who a person had voted for and letting people know that if they had voted for the other party then they were not going to be in the company of like minded individuals. Other tasteless signs were posted inside. The Benny's Burgers had a sign saying their prices had gone up 10% that day (blaming it on the current president) but when the price was questio Ed it was actually 35% more.
The cashier was busy with her boyfriend on a seat in the lobby most of the time. Very unprofessional. The other cashier brought us our food but never checked to see if everything was OK. We had to flag her down.
We ordered the classic Philly and the Philidelphia Mish Blue Cheese Philly with an order of fries. First, altho the Spanish had a lot if filling it was not steak, but ground beef with tiny chopped onion and peppers in it. The only cheese on it was drizzled on top. The sandwich roll was greasy and soggy making the sandwich impossible to eat without a fork and multiple napkins. Both sandwiches were like this.
The fries were seasoned but limp and cold when served. It seems we got the dregs instead of a new order. We asked for them to be replaced with unseasoned fries and they did make us a new order which was great.
The place itself is a hodgepodge of junk and mismatched tables. No atmosphere to speak of and no background music. They have a bunch of old broken kids toys and a little kid trampoline. It's a mass of confusion really.
We were excited to try this place, but it is pricey for what you get, and what you get isn't ll that great. We won't be going back and can't give a good recommendation for anyone else to...
Read moreGreasy, large cheesesteaks and burgers. Food quality and service is okay at best but definitely not worth the price. Been here a few times but the last was enough to convince me not to be a customer anymore. My girlfriend and I had heard great things about the burgers here (and I liked the cheesesteaks well enough), so we decided to get some on a Saturday afternoon. Admittedly we went in close to closing, but it was about 45 minutes until close which for this type of place I would assume is more than enough time to cook up a couple of burgers and fries. We ordered from a nice enough but clearly ready to leave young woman then began waiting. Then we waited some more. We continued to wait when about 30 minutes after we ordered, a man I would describe as 'not surprising to find in a police lineup' began loudly discussing the restaurant's fare. A few choice descriptions included: "nasty," "dog food," and "junk." This person was holding a burger and fries and headed to a table so I assumed it was a customer. Imagine my surprise when he wonders aloud "Who would even eat this s*?" at the exact moment that he serves these burgers to a couple who had waited even longer than us to receive their food. We finally get our food as this model employee is loudly expressing his excitement about getting off of work. At this point I'm willing to admit I probably should have checked our food before leaving. We get home and open up the bag to find a couple of quite delicious looking burgers; however my first bite uncovers the ugly truth: within the warm, brown, juicy patty lurked uncooked meat as pink as a pepto-bismol slathered pig in a ballerina leotard on a bed of roses. The next time I'm thinking about going to Franklin's I'll remember their employee's advice and...
Read moreWe ordered “The Philly” cheesesteak, the Death Valley cheesesteak, and a large fry. “The Philly” is like an original cheesesteak. It is a great choice for those who wants something traditional or doesn’t want to try anything they might not like. It’s a safe bet. The Death Valley is unique as it is spicy from being made with ghost pepper cheese. The spice has a nice good burn that doesn’t linger to long. It’s really pleasant if you enjoy spicy foods. The sandwiches themselves are made with great buns. The buns have a nice texture when you bit into them. The buns reminds me of a less chewy pretzel bun, with great flavor. The meat is tasty and are a nice size. The fries are very good. They appear to be Russet Burbanks that are sliced and deep fried on site. They come out very hot but are not dripping in oil. That’s awesome. The fries are seasoned with what I believe to be Lawry’s seasoning. The fries came with fry sauce. They have great flavor, you’ll end up eating every fry. This place seems to be a very family friendly location. They have board and card games available, a little bounce house like toy, and a TV with movies for kids to watch. It’s a good vibes type place. Eat the sandwiches right away or the bun may get soggy from the grease and juice. For a large fry I would expect more fries, but for the price it’s reasonable. There are some political images and text on a wall. It might not be something everyone agrees with. Great price for the amount of quality food you get. We are looking forward to the next time we go to Franklin’s, we already have decided what we want...
