I would like to preface this post with the warning that I waitressed for a long time, so I typically provide a lot of grace when it comes to dining because I know how terrible things can be. When I arrived at the restaurant, I was pleased because the hostess was able to get our party of 6 seated immediately, when other restaurants in the area had an hour plus wait time. However, the good experience stopped at the immediate seating. The waitress was inattentive. We waited so long between our drinks being dropped off and the time that we ordered, that I had to go look for her to let her know we were ready to order. We had two small children with us who were starting to get fussy because of the long wait. I had to stand and hold one of them to keep them relatively quiet, which piqued the waitress’ attention. Not so politely, I asked her to get a biscuit, crackers, bread, or SOMETHING to help pacify the children. She brought every single one of those items, but no round plates to eat them on. Drinks were not refilled in a timely manner. We asked three times for a refill on my partner’s drink, to no avail. My partner had to go to the waitress station to get someone to refill it for him. When the food came, only half of it was brought out. The SALADS we had to wait on were brought out several minutes later. Any experienced waitress knows that salads take 7 minutes or less, depending on if there’s meat on top of it. Which leads me to believe that she forgot to put in the salad orders. My daughter’s macaroni and cheese had clearly been sitting under the warmer and was cold. I had a small black hair, that appeared to be a beard hair, on my plate. The waitress’ section was nearly empty, but she had not cleared away or cleaned any of the other tables. When I went to the women’s restroom, it smelled like urine as soon as you opened the door, there was toilet paper on the floors, the mirrors were dirty, and the two of the three stalls were out of toilet paper. The entire time we were there, we never saw a manager. It seems that front of house and back of house staff needs some...
Read moreI stopped in with my family for breakfast the other day. I should mention that I did used to manage a few Bob Evans restaurants so I am aware of their standards. We had a relatively large party and those can always be challenging, we called in advance to notify the staff so they could prepare, I was told they don’t take reservations, and I told him that I just want to make sure they know we are coming to avoid stressing the staff on a Tuesday morning. I noticed upon pulling up that the dumpster was not closed and was attracting birds. Once we got in the restaurant we were not greeted, we had to approach the staff ourselves. The host pointed us to a section cordoned off for us, which was great. The real issues started shortly after the waitress started taking our drink orders. There was no ice coffee, so instead of bringing that for our order, the waitress brought a cup of room temperature coffee with no ice. That was new and pretty disgusting. No apology was offered when this was pointed out, not sure if that’s an Indiana thing, but room temp coffee is gross. Then we started looking around easily finding greasy handprints on the wall. Going into the bathroom was entertaining. They had wet floor signs up, although the floor was dry. It was very obvious that they were cleaning the floor with dirty water or the wrong chemical. It was slicker than an ice rink. The floor around the urinal was absolutely covered in urine. When pointed out the waitress dismissed it as poor air circulation. We didn’t see a manager the entire time we were there, and we were there for over an hour and a half. If there was a manager on site, we would have pointed out the undercooked sausage in our omelette, the hair on our plate, the bug in the fruit salad, and the chemical taste in the hash browns. I want to note the person who are those hash browns became very sick by the next morning. All told, this was beyond disgusting. I always take my family to Bob Evans when we come to town, because I know their standards are typically top notch. Not here. We will never...
Read moreI would actually not give any stars but you can't give a review without a star. This was our family's worst restaurant experience ever from beginning to end. Our party of 7 walked in and had to wait about 10 minutes for anyone to approach us and when then did they said it would be about 15-20 minutes. Although the parking lot did not look busy we thought possibly patrons walked from nearby hotels. Then they started calling a party of 4 and then a party of 3 which came in well behind us. Still thought they just did not have a place to seat us. They finally called us and as we are walking through there are minimal tables filled. So we have 30 minutes to be seated in a restaurant that was maybe 1/3-1/2 full. Our waiter was terrible and I am generally very patient. It took more than 40 minutes for our food to come out and then 2 out of 7 orders were incorrect, 1 order was missing altogether and the remaining orders the food was terrible. My son's sausage & cheese omelet came out as a cheese omelet with a little sausage dumped on top and my husband's Denver omelet came out with raw vegetables thrown on top. My 3-1/2 year old grandson said the pancakes are bad and that child has never encountered a bad pancake. So I tried the pancakes and he was not kidding they were awful. No one ate them. The waiter dumped syrup on another grandson. The manager (or manager on duty) was made aware and had nothing to say. We believe the only way this place stays in business is because of travelers like ourselves. SO TRAVELERS BEWARE. Go to Cracker Barrel across the road. It was a much better experience and meal. This was the Southport Road location in...
