This was a bday dinner. We were supposed to be dining on 19th night but we're late in reserving our table... So we did it for the 20th night. So, table reservation is recommended. Ofcourse once we reached, and host immediately showed us to our table and wished me and also gave me a bday card! It's so good to still receive cards from unknowns or the restaurant you're celebrating at. The server quickly gave us paper photocopied menu sheets. I believe they have slightly changed the menu because I didn't see my order item in the pictures posted online.
We honestly have been hogging the entire trip in Indy, so we straight away went for the main course. I got asian buttered noodles, that was the only vegetarian option I could see and my hubby got something or pork. We were also offered a bread basket and there are two types of breads.. one is plain, soft roll and the other is like a dry fruit or raisin bread with butter. I enjoyed that while waiting for our dinner. We also ordered drinks, and they were quite good. They still don't provide coasters for drinks and had to ask for napkins to avoid wetting the table. They came quickly, well before the dinner...
The ambience is quite peaceful and romantic if you like to watch horizons and spend time with your family or loved one. Unfortunately, the JWMarriot hotel blocks the sunset, otherwise it would have been perfect! Once we received our lovely food, we were able to quietly enjoy it. I didn't have any sides, but my hubby got broccoli (sticks form) and mushrooms... Both of which he had to leave. I don't know if they were mentioned in the menu cards, otherwise we would have said, he doesn't like mushrooms. We had quite a portion size. I was almost going to leave a quarter of my food , because there was a good amount. But, we relaxed and ate slowly .. I believe we almost spent 1.5hrs eating and just relaxing - enjoying the view because we sat through an entire rotation.
This was my second time in this restaurant, last one was in 2013... So it felt quite good. In some places the rotation makes a small noise but you can barely hear it. Otherwise, it's quite enjoyable. I would nt recommend it for kids however. The place can be accessed from within Hyatt hotel.. the first elevator goes all the way to the top. I don't think there is WiFi for guests... If you're staying in the hotel, you can bill it to your room as well. In the end, I would give food 4.5stars, ambience 4stars and service 4.5 stars. Hope you enjoy...

We arrived at 6 with a reservation and informed our server that we had a hard exit time, as we had to pick up our theater tickets by 7:30. We had plenty of time! but that's a common dining courtesy, and this would normally be when a server would inform diners of any potential recommendations ("this one comes out really fast, but you might not want to go with this other dish as it takes a bit longer") but ours just said sure, thanks for letting them know.
Over an hour later our food had not arrived. Bread was delivered, but we had to flag someone down for additional drinks and butter. We were starting to get nervous about our tickets, which would be released to general sale if not picked up. When our dinners finally came, about 7:15, one of our party bolted through her meal and then rushed out to collect tickets.
The rest of us ate (at a slightly less-ridiculous pace) our mediocre food. I'd ordered my steak medium rare, and it came medium well -- but no way was I going to ask for a replacement and miss eating entirely. My green vegetables were overcooked and limp. The horseradish potatoes were tasty, but that's a lot of money to get good potatoes. (My sister ordered the prime rib, which came more than half fat and with few vegetables. After a $60 meal she got a snack at the theater because she was hungry. That's not right. She's a petite actress who eats reasonable portions.)
Now that we'd hit our hard exit time, we asked for checks. We could watch our server moving around and not going to print them. By 7:48, they still hadn't come. I pulled cash out to leave on the table and stood to go, putting on my jacket, and then she came to say checks were coming. My husband told me to go ahead and he'd pay. At 7:51 I left the restaurant, with them still waiting to pay. They did make the 8:00 show, only because the show started a few minutes late.
I get that stuff happens in a kitchen and I'm pretty flexible -- but not once did anyone stop by the table to say things were moving a bit slow, I'll check on your order, can I get you a fresh water while you wait? Not once was there the slightest acknowledgment that we'd waited an hour for food and had definitely missed our exit time. The restaurant wasn't over-busy, it didn't have the look of missing staff that day, they just didn't check in or care.

Read moreThis restaurant is located in downtown Indianapolis and offers a 360-degree view of the city. It’s not exactly an observation deck, but rather a rotating restaurant that slowly turns around its axis. While sitting at your table, you get to enjoy the stunning views of Indianapolis, which constantly change as the restaurant moves. I’ve been to a similar place in Vienna, and it’s truly an impressive experience.
You enter the restaurant through the hotel, and the elevator ride is beautiful – one side is glass, so as you go up, you see the entire hotel lobby below you with its open space and people sitting down, almost like you’re floating to the very top. I believe it’s located in the Hyatt, and it’s really cool.
The service was very good, and our server was kind and attentive. However, when you come to such a place, with panoramic views, valet parking, and this whole upscale atmosphere, you expect something extraordinary – a “wow” factor that takes your breath away.
Unfortunately, the food, while good, didn’t live up to that level. I ordered the tuna poke (or tuna tartare), and honestly, it didn’t impress me. I’ve had better versions of this dish in simpler restaurants where it was fresher and more flavorful. I didn’t even finish it.
My husband and my mom both ordered the duck and said it was very good. My dad ordered fish, and my son had a steak – they were happy with their meals. We also had crème brûlée for dessert, and they brought out a birthday cake for my dad, singing happy birthday, which was a lovely touch.
Overall, the view and the experience of being in such a unique rotating restaurant are unforgettable. But considering this is one of the most pretentious and upscale restaurants in Indianapolis, the food just didn’t reach the level of excellence we expected. The entire arrival experience – valet parking, beautiful glass elevator, luxurious hotel lobby, and breathtaking views – sets the bar high, but the food fell short of creating that final “wow” moment. It’s a bit sad because everything else about the place is...
