Any night out with my Fab Fiancée is likely to be grand! We love seeking out new places to eat good food and meet new friends. This was our first visit to Coach's.
The Inverness downtown area is pretty cool, quaint and cozy. We liked that. Coach's is easy to find, parking was a little more difficult but not a problem.
We started out our Coach's game with a little Pep Talk by way of the Fried Cauliflower appetizer. What the menu says you get is 'Cauliflower Florets Coated with Japanese Style Bread Crumbs and Cheddar Cheese. Served with Melted Butter and Parmesan Cheese'. We expected to get some gooey good melted Cheddar drizzled over the top with a fine dipping sauce of butter and Parmesan. What we got was simply fried breaded Cauliflower, a mound of unmelted shredded Cheddar cheese next to a small cup of melted butter and another separate small mound of Parmesan. Hmmmmmmm, we were surprised. So, we tried every way possible of dipping sequences into the butter first, then into the Parmesan, etc. We DID NOT care for these. They lacked any real taste, the Cheddar doesn't melt sufficiently to infuse any flavor into the vegetable. It was just weird. Thumbs down here.
Because of a delay Candace, our server, brought us a cup of the Loaded Baked Potato Soup! This was absolutely delicious! Creamy good with tons and tons of flavor! YES!!!!
I then ordered the Philly Cheese Steak, which the menu touts as 'Our Top Seller!'. It was okay, but nothing special. Having enjoyed Philly sandwiches from Philadelphia to every place in between, I've had delicious Phillies! The idea of a good Philly is to let that perfectly melting and plentiful gob of Swiss Cheese ooze down, around and over every bit of the flat top cooked onions, mushrooms and green peppers. The combination of the carmelized onions, the sauteed peppers and onions makes for a taste note that would ring The Liberty Bell! My sandwich was that little handlebar bell on a 3 year old's training wheel bicycle. Ding! Next....
Fab One ordered the Montreal Sirloin, at $15.99 Again, the menu states 'Fresh Extra Thick Cut 10 Ounce Sirloin Topped with Zesty Spices. A Local Favorite!'. Her sirloin was cooked perfectly Med Rare, as ordered. However, she felt that ALL she TASTED was the Montreal seasoning! The taste of the meat was overwhelmed by the pepper, salt and other Montreal spices. It was mostly WAY TOO SALTY.
We 'could' have asked for a re-do on our items, sure. But we did not. Partly because I don't like to chance kitchen revenge(NOT saying Coach's would do that!). But also because we really liked our bar server Candace. She was on the ball with refills and attending to our needs.
We did have fun talking with other patrons, playing some of the bar games including the swinging ball on the hook! We may drop in again when in the area, to try some...
Read moreI have given it 1 star because negative stars are not available. My one and only experience at Coach's was potentially the WORST I have had at any restaurant ever. Terrible burger and an extremely rude manager. Literally any other place would be a better choice.
This is a break-down of my experience at 6:30 on 1-31-20
Service: lacking... The waiter was friendly but seemed a bit inept. No real check-ins after the food arrived. I only managed one drink refill despite my glass being empty for the majority of the visit.
Kitchen speed: poor... We waited for over 1:15 for food for 4 people. 3 fried appetizers ( our 2 friends ate these for dinner, they were brought with our meals) 1 burger w/ fries and 1 small sirloin steak. Nothing difficult there.
Food taste/ quality: awful... The friends seemed happy enough with their apps. My girlfriend was not thrilled with the steak but she ate it. The burger was the WORST burger I have EVER had. It tasted like it was made primarily of salt and garbage. I only ate about 1/3 of it. I didn't tell her anything before I asked my girlfriend to taste it and tell me what she thought. She spit it out and chugged her drink to get the taste out of her mouth.
Cleanliness: poor ... A cockroach came crawling out of the wall while were eating. It was smallish and light colored with no wings yet. It had definitely hatched on the property. It was killed and captured with a napkin by one of the friends.
Management: terrible ... With the cockroach killed and contained in the napkin we summoned the waiter to tell him what was in the napkin so he could alert a manager and dispose of it properly. After waiting for quite a while, Megan, a manager showed up with a less than friendly look. Her FIRST statement was " I heard you had a problem and I hope you don't expect special treatment." She went on to "explain" that this was a common problem in restaurants and that the roach had probably just flown in. At no point did she ask about ANYTHING (food or service) or even apologize for what had happened. I never even got a chance to speak and by the time she was done I felt that my temper might get the better of me and I didn't want to embarrass my girlfriend or...
Read moreThis review is based on three visits on the same week to this sports bar. The bartenders were friendly and answered questions about the food, drinks and daily specials. I ordered spicy wings and they were cooked just right, were tasty, and enjoyed the sauce they came with. The tacos on Tuesday were good as well. Plenty of variety of beer on tap, bottled, and served cold. Plenty of TV's broadcasting daily sports events. Great for families or teams. I would have given them five stars on the service but after sitting at the far back right bar on my second visit and after sitting for 1O minutes did not receive a greeting or acknowledgement after the older male bartender past by me several times with no eye contact. The bar was not overcrowded or busy. I than walked over to left bar and received better service. Update( 3Rd visit)- went with family of 6 last night. Service was good though they didn't refill drinks accept beer. Wings good. Burger fair and not to temp. My son sent his pork sandwich back and reorder chicken tenders. A big sloppy wet mess. Bottom bun was drowning. Nachos were served 15-20 minutes later than everyone else's meal and my son in law didn't eat it. No ranch with wrap. Had to ask for condiments that were suppose to be served with food. Had to wait forever for check and had to get up to get Mgr to check us out. Mgr was very nice and apologized. My rating on the food and service was changed from five to three stars from 1...
