Our first time trying el vaquero in Grove city. We started off with two lime margaritas. It was very good and you could actually taste a tad bit of alchohol. Sadly something happened with our food receipt to the kitchen, causing us to have to wait over 30 minutes for our food as we watch families come in after us and leave before us. Right before I say something (I think it was a manager because we haven't seen our server) they acknowledge how long we were waiting and immediately expedited the kitchen. She admitted the paper didn't print or something happened and she would take care of it and get us a discount. We received the kids meal free... $6.99. which is cool but we spent an hour and a half here, when we should've stayed no longer than a hour. My daughter's quesadilla was a pretty big size and she ate it all. I had ordered the Cochinita Pibil, the pork was very tender and pleasing, yellow rice was fluffy and delish. Refried beans were bland but the Pico de Gallo was really good. This is a pretty establishment, in the busy area of Grove city. My food was okay, but I feel as if we should have gotten more than $7 off our meal. First time experience leaving a bad taste...
Read moreHighly recommend going someplace else as we had a terrible experience the other night. The service was extremely slow, and I can understand short staff. But, when you are taking 15 minutes to bring me our bill and we can clearly see you chatting, it's frustrating. We asked twice.
It took 20 minutes to get our drinks and for them to tell me they didn't have Blue Moon. I then ordered a Corona, expecting it in a bottle only to be served and charged for a large beer. For $25 the shrimp fajitas were average at best and extremely small in portion. My friends drinks barely had any alcohol in their margaritas and didn't even get the kind they ordered.
The kids meal was suppose to be free but we were charge and they even gave us the wrong order! We said separate checks but obviously our waiter gave us only one. Our waiter should be grateful we actually left a tip because I was so tempted to get up and leave. Especially, when I tried to explain to the staff that they overcharged us in drinks. Honestly, I left because it wasn't worth time as we had other plans to go to.
Our takeaway, we won't...
Read moreThis evening my friend and I went to the restaurant with a coupon for a free appetizer with the purchase of two entrees. We ordered Beef Fajitas for the appetizer, and each of us had the Quesadilla for an entree.
We were very disappointed in the quality of the food. First, the salsa served with the chips at the beginning was like a watery tomato sauce--not really salsa at all.
Instead of Fajitas, we were served some beef over chips. The waiter did not understand when we tried to clarify, and just said, "You ordered beef." He did not offer to make it right.
The quesadillas were not what we expected. They were just a soft tortilla folded over with chicken and very little cheese inside. It was not fried like a quesadilla should be.
I could tell that the food was sub-par because I had to return home quickly after this meal! I am usually very happy with the other El Vaquero Restaurants in the Columbus area. I was, therefore, very surprised and unhappy with this experience. I will not visit this restaurant again, and I will be writing a letter...
