EDIT: We've stayed here several more times since my initial review and it's much better. Some of the rooms need upgraded (bathtub plugs that are corroding, etc.) but nothing too big. I'm a night owl and we're usually able to get a late check-out here. That, paired with the guarantee of a decent bed, makes this our go-to hotel in the Columbus area. ____________________________ The good: 1. The bed and pillows were comfortable! In recent years it's seemed like about 60% of beds in non-luxury Hilton brands are so hard they hurt your hips and shoulders if you sleep on your side (which I do). 2. Each side of the bed had a reading light...nice touch! 3. There were more Diamond Member parking spots than a lot of hotels have. 4. The room seemed pretty clean and mostly unstained (except for a large-ish red smear on the bathroom wall I think staff missed...which, thankfully, seemed like makeup instead of something worse. The meh: 5. The room had decent storage except for the bathroom (where there was only a narrow sink rim to put things). 6. The front desk employees were pretty unprofessional, one even at the desk complaining loudly about something while scrolling through her phone as we were checking in. 7. Our room had no "Do Not Disturb" hanger for the door. The bad: 8. Our "diamond upgrade" room had huge swaths and gashes of peeling paint on the bathroom ceiling. (See photos.) 9. The window shade had no cords so we had to force it down for light control and privacy (which was especially important since it was the first floor). But then, the next morning, we had no way to raise it. 10. The two bedside tables had only one table lamp between them.

This one lives up to the Hilton brand and the people are super friendly. Breakfast area is a little small for the footprint, but the crew handle it very well. There is make to order and continental breakfast with assorted fruits, oats, grits, muffins, bread and others. The dining area is very clean and well kept. The made to order breakfast options are well made and good quality food. The hotel itself is nice, also undergoing renovation - 2nd floor (as of Jan 2020). There is laundry, fitness center, indoor pool - all clean and in good shape. There is plenty of parking and the other good thing about the hotel location is there is plenty of nice restaurants to dine. The only downside is depending on who is at the front desk, your check in experience could be different, some are really nice and friendly while some are totally don't care.

Chose this hotel Based on the excellent reviews. Surprised to find it was disgusting. We would have slept better in our car! Based on other reviews, I'm guessing this location has two types of rooms: five star, and then one star. The nicer rooms must only be given to Hilton Honors members, and for everyone booking through discount sites... they get the one star rooms. Our room, booked through a 3rd party website ,was disgusting. The bathroom smelled like mildew. The view was of a storage yard. Coffeemaker dirty, only decaf provided. Noisy old air conditioner. For $150 we barely slept, and would not recommend staying here to our worst enemy.

It was clean and comfortable. Third party made reservations for us and left card number that according to night check on staff with a patronizing permanent grin on her face, was only to hold the room". Made use of debit card after discussion of room was paid for in advance but then decided best to use American Express. Again Ms. "PERMA GRIN" says well we can do that but the total won't be returned to the debit card for 3-5 days ... that's just the policy. Breakdown in communication on our end, our fault. Patronizing, intimidating night staff, I say intimidating secondary to the night time parking lot police... no disrespect meant, may have been security or may have been off duty police with side hustle trying to feed his family (did 26 years of that myself) so all respect for this young man he was just there quietly and then just as quietly walked away. But none the less there. Additionally we had available AARP AND AAA premium memberships that should have provided discount on rates but Ms. PERMA GRIM says no the reservation was made by a third party and NO, THROUGH HER CONDESENDING SMILE, we can't use any discounts. All this was after an 11 hour drive through traffic often 10 mph secondary to major traffic accidents, and thunderstorms with greater than heavy rainfall from the observation point of a veteran trained observer and licensed aircraft pilot, we walk into basically how dare you bring your country white boy back side to our wonderful midwestern city, even if your trip was focused on coming to assist a current member of US military with this person moving about the world in service to our country. Currently South Korea, to help move belongings and other very important parts of life and trust me our thoughts are about "the wonderful midwestern city" has its reputation ruined by CONDESENDING, LOUD MOUTHED, BRASIN, RECTAL SPCHINTERS. SO, HERE'S TO YOU HILTON. THANKS FOR A NIGHT FILLED 'UPPER CRUST'. BULL CHIPS! Have a wonderful day, ... ya'll .. imagine your very best effort at the country drawl, with my Ph.D....

As a frequent business traveler, this was a below average HGI experience. I've stayed here a few times over the past couple of years and each time it gets a little worse. This time my big issues were with the temperature in the gym and the temperature of the hot water. The gym was too hot and the water for my shower was too cold! On Monday of the week I stayed there my co-worker let me know that the gym was really warm. I figured that surely one of the hotel workers would have been in there and reported it and it would have been fixed by Tuesday night. So Tuesday night I go down to the (very small) gym and the thermostat shows that the AC is set to 70 but it's reading 78. I deal with it for about 20 minutes and decide to call it quits. I let them know at the desk and she makes it sound like it's the first they are hearing of it. I can't believe that not a single employee had walked into that gym in 24 hours. They tell me that they'll get maintenance to look at it on Wednesday. Wednesday night, I go back to the gym and it's now up to 80 degrees in there. I don't even bother at this point, so I go back to the desk and ask about the issue. They tell me "oh, yeah the AC repair guy was supposed to come out, but he is running late". So much for that. Then, the next morning, I had no hot water for my shower. My co-worker mentioned that he had that same issue earlier in the week. Finally, they had received a decent bit of snow a couple days before my arrival but didn't appear to do much in terms of getting their lot plowed. There was a ton of snow all over the place and it made walking outside tricky. Their solution was to put a sign on the door as you left that said "Caution parking lot icy". Thanks.... There aren't a ton of choices in the area so I'll likely end up back here again, but hopefully they work on their...

BEST PART OF THE STAY WAS CHECKING OUT A DAY EARLY. THIS HOTEL IS THE WORST I HAVE EVER STAYED IN....WE HAD TO CHECK OUT EARLIER THAN WE SHOULD HAVE, AND THEY REFUSED A REFUND. WE CHECKED OUT AFTER A SERIES OF INCIDENTS...FIRST NO IRONING BOARD, SO WE ASKED FOR ONE AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS ONE THERE. WE ASSURED THEM THERE WAS NOT, SO THE FRONT DESK REP INVADED OUR SPACE AFTER UNPACKING TO "SEARCH OUR ROOM" FOR THE BOARD. FINALLY SAW THAT THERE WAS NONE AND BROUGHT ONE BACK. WE WERE TOLD THE WATER BOTTLES IN THE PANTRY WERE FREE TO GUESTS, BUT WERE CHARGED. WE ALSO STATED THERE WAS A LOUD DRIPPING SOUND IN THE BATHROOM WALL, WHICH HE DISMISSED AS NOTHING. IT WAS ANNOYING. THE WALL PAPER IN THE BATH WAS PEELING. THE ROOM HAD NO OVERHEAD LIGHTING ACCEPT IN THE ENTRYWAY....A TOTAL OF 2 TABLE LIGHTS. ONE AT THE BEDSIDE AND ONE AT THE DESK. THE ROOM IS DARK AND BLAND. BATH WAS WELL LIT BUT THERE WAS NO SPACE AT THE SINK TO PLACE YOUR TOILETRIES. WHEN I WENT TO DRY MY HAIR, THE HAIR DRYER WAS SO DIRTY AND STICKY, IT LITERALLY STUCK TO MY HAND. JUST WHAT YOU WANT AFTER BATHING....IT WAS DISGUSTING. THE WALLS ARE PAPER THIN. THE FOLKS IN THE NEXT ROOM DECIDED TO TURN THEIR TV VOLUME UP AFTER 11PM SO IT WAS BLARING. WE DID COMPLAIN AND THEY TURNED IT DOWN. HOWEVER, DURING THE NIGHT THERE WERE SEXCAPADES HAPPENING, AND AGAIN IN THE MORNING, YOU COULD HEAR THEM IN THE SHOWER. GOOD FOR THEM, BUT WE COULD NOT SLEEP. THAT WAS IT. WE CHECKED OUT THAT MORNING AND THE GAL AT THE DESK WAS NOT APOLOGETIC AT ALL....IN HER CRUMPLED UP TSHIRT (SHOULD HAVE OFFERED OUR ROOM IRONING BOARD TO HER) SHE REFUSED TO REFUND ANYTHING. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. IT MADE SUCH A DISGUSTING IMPRESSION ON US THAT WE DO NOT INTEND TO STAY AT ANY GARDEN HILTON EVER AGAIN. WE ARE NOT SNOBS. WE JUST EXPECT OUR SERVICE TO BE WHAT WE PAY FOR. WE WORK HARD...
