Jackson Drug — Restaurant in Jackson

Eating at this restaurant was an ordeal, where we saw so many tiny signs of poor management that our dinner actually became somewhat comical by the end.

I came here looking for a cold beer and a good burger, after taking a look at the menu outside this looked like the perfect place, after speaking with the hostess, being seated, and waiting for some time for our drink orders to be taken we were however informed that they did not have their liquor license (if there is something holding up your license that is understandable but at least have the decency to put some tape or something over it on the menu if you can't sell it).We nearly decided to go somewhere else but were exhausted after driving all day and just wanted something to eat, so we decided to stay.

I saw that the specials board had the mushroom swiss burger on special, and asked the waitress how much the special was since there was no price listed, she did not know (really?), and instead of offering to find out she just seemed flustered (I gather that she was new to waitressing and I felt bad for her since she seemed very out of her depth and improperly trained). I made a comment that 'well if it's on special it should be cheaper' and so I ordered a double mushroom swiss and my partner ordered a single. During the long wait for our food our waitress knocked our cutlery off our table twice while moving back and forth between the packed in tables. Our water was never refilled unless I specifically flagged down an employee. It then it STILL took 5+ minutes before our glasses were filled - and instead of bringing a pitcher over took our mostly empty glasses away for several more minutes. During the wait for our food we saw several instances of other patrons having issues with their food or not being served without having to flag down an employee.

Finally the food arrived, and was fairly decent. Very greasy but that's what I was looking for. Tried both the regular and waffle cut fries. They were okay but not fantastic. The burgers were good.

When it came time to get the check I noticed that my burger, the double mushroom swiss was about the same price as the single patty mushroom swiss. The reason for this is that the SPECIAL was $15 while if we were to have ordered the same burger from the 'build your own burger' menu it would have been a few dollars cheaper. This is ridiculous, the only explanation I have is that management is either trying to maliciously overcharge people (probably tourists) or they have no idea what they're doing running a restaurant if they don't even understand how daily specials work. I brought this up with our waitress and she seemed apologetic but said there was nothing she could so. I suggested she ask her manager, and after waiting around a 20 minute wait we received a new check with the 'build your own burger' price. The manager never came over, or I would have had a few things to say to them.

Bottom line is that the food was alright, but pretty expensive (especially if you order their fake "Special"), the service was poor, but the ambiance was nice aside from the tables being too closely packed together.

We would have stayed a bit longer for ice cream or a milkshake but didn't feel like it was worth the wait times and having to deal with the...

Just like other travellers pointed out be aware of the poor treatment you may receive at this place. I never write bad reviews, but I feel people need to know to spend their money where customers are welcomed not treated like thieves.

My husband and I got the cheque and it was wrong. It said we got bowls of soup instead of cups which is what we had. We told the waiter about this error, and he kindly said he had to ask the manager to come and check with us. The manager came and asked us with an extremely arrogant attitude what the problem was. We told him and he literally laughed at our faces (yes, he did laugh!) and said rudely he brought the bowls of soup himself to our table and that he KNEW what we ate.

We told him again we were the ones who ate the soup and that we were also sure of the size. He took a bowl from under the counter to show us and we insisted that wasn’t what we had. He kept saying we were wrong rudely.

Only after this conversation, he left and checked our order on the computer. He came back and said “there has been a confusion” (finally acknowledging we were right!!). He threw the new cheque at us and mumbled a “sorry” while he was leaving.

What a ridiculous situation when the manager of a restaurant believes a customer lies just to save $5!! We felt insulted and especially sorry for the people working at Jackson Drug. Can you imagine how he treats employees when he treats his customers like that? Shame!

There are plenty of lovely options in Jackson Hole, don’t waste your precious time in such a toxic place! Enjoy your vacation and give your money to other local business such as Picnic or Gun Barrel to name a few. Service and food were top...

Overall impression: Meh.

First of all, I must say that I would like to visit some other time, as I do not believe our experience there is reflective of every visit.

However, there were several issues during our visit: I asked server #1 if there is meat in the chili cheese loaded fries - the answer was yes (beef, apparently). When I asked if they can make them without meat (and thus still load the fries with cheese sauce, scallions, and sour cream), I was told that was possible. I specifically said the words "without meat" and "vegetarian". The fries, however, then arrived loaded with bacon, delivered by server #2. When we told the server #2 that we had not ordered this, he just said that "that's what the dish is like", even as we told him that we had asked for a modified dish. Eventually, he took back the dish, and after a short wait, the vegetarian version of the dish was delivered. Server #1 then arrived to ask if everything was alright, at which point I had to remind him that I had not yet received my beverage, although my friend had received his ages ago. He apologised and said that he had forgot, but he had poured it a long time ago. I mean, the fact that it was poured along time ago doesn't really excuse it.

The food was good, but not excellent. My friend gives the wings 3-4 out of 5 stars, slightly dry. I liked the vegetarian loaded fries, but they get too soggy in the middle.

I would love to go back at a less busier time, receive my beverage on time and try more of the food, because it definitely looks good. But I just had such a meh experience this time around that I cannot give more that 3...
