Cangiano's is an iconic name in gourmet food and Italian specialty foods, and they truly live up to their reputation. From the moment we placed our order, it was clear that this establishment stands head and shoulders above the rest. We are very discerning when it comes to restaurants, especially when it comes to gourmet markets, Italian-American pork stores, and specialty shopsâand Cangiano's is, without a doubt, the best of the best.
We ordered delivery, and the sandwiches arrived picture-perfect. One bite, and we were in tastebud bliss! The flavors were absolutely mouthwateringâpure perfection, as expected. Having enjoyed Cangiano's food for decades in Staten Island, we were heartbroken when they closed.
Naturally, we were so very pleased to discover a Cangiano's in Jersey City and run by the same extended family. And as it turns out, they haven't missed a beatâstill delivering the same unmatched quality and expertise.
Their sandwiches blow away the competition. After trying three from their extensive and thoughtfully curated menu, I can't imagine going anywhere else for sandwiches or catering. The prices are extremely competitive, especially considering the exceptional quality. Their antipasto platter was a true highlightâstupendous and absolutely scrumptious.
We grew up on Cangiano's, an iconic New York family business that has earned its stellar reputation over the last CENTURY. The lines were often out the door, with people happily waiting for their fresh bread. We've tried countless other stores over the yearsâunfortunately, many simply donât know what theyâre doing. Even big names like Whole Foods can't match the quality and authenticity of Cangianoâs. Itâs incredible that this skilled family, with generations of experience in the food industry, continues to uphold their legacy of delivering such legendary, top-tier food.
This place is truly a gem, and once you give them a try, itâll be your new favorite spot. Everything we ordered arrived looking like it was prepared for a photo shootâit was that perfect. An amazing experience all around. The staff was helpful, guiding us through our order with ease. Itâs a breath of fresh air to deal with such a true gourmet marketplace. We feel incredibly lucky to have such a fantastic market in our neighborhood. If you're looking for the best in catering and gourmet and specialty food, look no further...
Read moreHeard a lot of good things about this place so decided to make a visit. Got there at the right time as there was only 1 person ( a Port Authority Officer, thank you for your service) on line getting a sandwich, I was there for some steaks and things. Waited 5 minutes but no worries I wasnât on a time clock. just when it was time to wait on me the lone employee looked at me and said âone minuteâ. Seemed a few folks came in after me that the lone employee, letâs call him Scotty, decided to help first as apparently they were regulars. remember this was my first experience. No worries another 5 minutes went by while they discussed cheese and he shared samples. Then finally it was my moment to place an order, I asked for a steak, great, next on my list was chopped meat, he pointed said isnât there any on the shelf in the back, I turned around looked turned back around and asked for some sausage as he was walked away. Apparently, a few other regulars came in and he couldnât be bothered with me any longer. Someone else had to complete my order. I was shocked at how rude this guy was. Anyway the steak was fantastic and if I decide to go back I intend to avoid Scotty, you might want to do the same if he...
Read moreItalian markets are tough to come by in Jersey City. I was extremely excited to try Cangianoâs, as I love Italian markets and have been very faithful/impressed to/by others around New Jersey (Sergioâs in Denville is my favorite). The store itself is very nice & clean. They have a strong selection of deli meats, cuts of premium beef & other Italian delicacies.
I ordered the #14 sandwich around 11:30am - the classic grilled chicken, fresh mozz & roasted red peppers, olive oil & balsamic glaze on a loaf of Italian bread.
I was immensely underwhelmed and disappointed. The bread was clearly stale, too hard and mustâve been from a day before. The other ingredients were fine but the bread for a sandwich is key.
Hopefully this was just a one-off experience. I will try Cangianoâs again but I hope they improve their quality control and provide fresher...
