Arrived here on a Sunday night a little after 9 p.m. The restaurant closes at 11 p.m., so we figured we wouldn't be a bother. We were promptly given our choice of seating, so we chose a booth on the restaurant side, assuming we were the only table there because it was late.
What's odd about this visit is that we had no idea who our server was. We had one person in street clothes come after the host, which we assumed was because the server needed some help, so we understood and didn't think anything of it. They took our drink and food order and promptly brought out our waters.
Next, we had yet another person bring out our food. He ordered the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and I ordered the California Chicken Sandwich. I was brought something that looked like a French Dip. Because of this, my partner had to decide to either wait on me and have a cold buffalo sandwich or eat without me.
At this point, we have not yet received napkins or silverware, but at every interaction with the staff, they darted away so quickly we couldn't ask for anything. One of the times we were trying to find someone we found our own napkins. We had to ask for a fork and a knife, for water, more than once, and then a knife again when they brought out two forks. We get that we were in a section on our own, but we expected the bare minimum, which is water glasses that aren't empty, silverware, and napkins.
When my sandwich came with yet another (4th) person, I noticed the guacamole was put on the bottom, resulting in a very soggy bottom bun that eventually became useless (hence the request for a fork and knife for a sandwich). We were so low priority that after waiting we had to go get someone, anyone, for a fork and knife. They showed up with two forks and sped off. Then I went to find someone else so I could get a knife. They brought two knives. I caught them right as they were leaving to ask for a box and the check now that my sandwich was getting cold and I didn't know when I would see someone again.
The food was decent. It tasted great, but was not put together well. With the service, though, it was not worth the trouble. We have both worked in fast casual dining and we know the limitations of service on Sunday nights, staffing issues, meal prep times, etc., but the location seemed to have at least four servers that came to us. When I was asking for silverware, I saw about ten people across three tables on the bar side. There didn't seem to be a reason for this low level of service, which was very disappointing. Unless someone is dead-set on taking me there, I don't think I'll be back on a...
Read moreMy husband, my son and myself decided to try something new downtown and absolutely regret every minute here. It took nearly ten minutes to seat us even though the place was dead and we had made a reservation. We sat another 10 minutes waiting for our server to finally greet us, disgruntled slamming our drinks down while proceeding to tell us how he was being over worked, the restaurant was under staffed and he was being unfairly harassed by other employees. While I empathize with him and the state of things with the lack of help and long, tiring shifts with obvious poor management here, his behavior was lackadaisical and completely unprofessional.
Our first order was for cocktails which again took a very long time to arrive and when they did so, mine was watered down lemonade (a gin fizz) and my husband had a half a glass of what was supposed to be an old fashioned. Our food finally arrived after another long wait (still not many guests) and my order was wrong and taken back when the food runner realized it. My husband took a bite into his burger finding completely uncooked, raw beef and returned it when we finally had someone come back to return my original order. All this time our server did not check in with us once.
My son's meal was fine, though everything in the place was very heavily salted and he could not eat any more of it. We had enough at that point and wanted to leave, so we asked for our check. Our server casually strolled from what looked like a break with a friend from down the block when we stopped him for pur ticket. Even after the burger was removed from our ticket, the bill was still over $70.00!!! Insane. Everyone we had contact with at this restaurant just did not seem to care. We will not be returning and would encourage most everyone we know to...
Read moreUpdate: based on my experience and the other negative reviews, I really have no interest in having a next meal here. The fact they couldn't pay me to come back and risk the unmasked staff and incorrect service and apparently spotty cooking says it all.
Did an online order, said it would be ready at X time. Get there a couple of minutes late, try to call for 5 minutes, never answered. Go inside, wait another 5 minutes for someone to come to the podium.
Get told that all pick up orders are at the bar, across the restaurant past many unmasked patrons, but the person did agree to go get it for me, although they (and another staff member that checked on me) didn't seem to think they had curbside despite it being on their sign in front. Had to wait another 5+ minutes for the order to make it back to me. Ultimately got my order in the car 22 minutes after it was supposedly ready, after having to go do exactly what I was hoping to avoid (going indoors in a pandemic). I also happened to see at least one member of staff unmasked in the back kitchen area during my time waiting.
It doesn't matter if the food is great or not, there's a ton of good food around. This kind of service and false advertising and lack of even picking up the phone is unacceptable.
I originally had an extra star on here because ultimately the food was decent and the gentleman that eventually helped me did seem to do something that wasn't his job but honestly, I just don't know why I would ever bother with this place again, and so that's a 1 star in my book. The food isn't better than a half dozen other nearby options that do offer curbside and don't have 20 minutes of no one helping while your food sits somewhere...
