My husband and I visited this establishment last night. Upon arrival we were greeted and offered water and asked did we want to watch the game. We were then told that their POS system is down and we are only accepting cash. We were meeting some VERY important friends from out of town. When were informed that they were only accepting cash... In front of the host I told my husband to text our guest to let them know to bring cash. We took a seat in this empty establishment and waited for about 15min we were approached by Sergio and he asked us were we ready to order... We told him not yet we're waiting on friends and he asked us were we going to order anything at all, again we told him that the host let us know that their POS machine was down and we are waiting on our guest to arrive. Sergio then told us we were loitering cause we haven't purchased anything. My husband uncomfortablely showed Sergio his text messages proving that we were actually waiting on a few friends to arrive. Sergio came back a second time saying "I thought you said they were pulling up. At this point we asked to speak to a manager. Darius then approached us and we explained everything to him. Long story short our friends arrived... Sergio gave a stupid look of embarrassment and then approached us trying to explain himself. Then they tried to up the price on the pool tables when we were told a totally different price from when we arrived. We then left the establishment. The only reason we stayed was because we had friends from New York meeting us there and we didnt want to keep rerouting them to different locations. The Belfry just didn't know who they ran off from their place of business. Our guest were MAJOR producers out of New York and a MAJOR Cheif journalist from one of the biggest magazines in the world! So while you establishment was empty during the First Chiefs home game u could have made up the loss with just our guest cause they came ready to...

I have had this place bookmarked and intended to try it next weekend but then they TOWED my car! We were downtown prior to dinner and decided to try SoT (GO!!!) and pulled into a lot that wasn't marked, we looked hard for a sign, hardly any cars in the lot and no sign that we could find. We walked across the street for 40 minutes and came back to find that the Belfry had towed our car. There is a very small sign on the corner of an adjacent building and apparently a bigger one at the bottom of the lot but since the lot was empty we didn't drive to the bottom. We called the first number on the sign which is a police number and they were super irritated because they don't tow out of private lots. Called the second number was told $205 cash to get my car back, the sign says $150. My biggest problem with this, I wasn't trying to pull one over on them. The lot is really not well marked. Also, this part of town still struggles to get people down there when there isn't an event. Way to make the neighborhood less appealing to us surbanites who venture into the city for a fun night out on an evening where there was absolutely nothing going on downtown!!! YOU SUCK BELFRY!!!! I will not be coming to...

We came here with another couple and we all had an incredible dining experience! The atmosphere was very chill and they’re known for having one of the best bourbon lists in KC, along with an equally impressive cocktail and beer selection. At first, the bourbon/whiskey list can be a little overwhelming as there are so many to choose from. I wanted to try something I’ve never had so we were lucky enough to receive a few excellent recommendations from Chef Celina, who in addition to being a world class chef, just so happens to have an exquisite palate for bourbons. After we got a few cocktails going, we ordered the cauliflower and pretzels to start with. Both were very delicious and the cauliflower was cooked like none other I’ve ever tasted…so freakin’ good! I ended up ordering the cheeseburger and added an egg and bacon as well. The flavor of the burger was incredible, the fries were cooked perfectly and had a slight crunch…everything was insanely tasty! Our overall experience was amazing and we can’t wait to come back. This has quickly become one of our favorite...

Hidden, sneaky food and cocktail gem … @thebelfrylounge I’m not sure why we have not been, we walk by it all the time but finally went and it was great. The theme for me is randomly perfect. The drink menu is huge and has a variety of options. They don’t seem to go together but again randomly perfect. We all got something we wanted and they were all good. The night we went a lot were Taylor Swift inspired so the names will be different. Food ranges from sushi grade tuna to curry style poutine fries. And why not!!! We got tacos, pasta, and a beirock all in one place and all really good. I got the beirock. It was excellent. The cabbage was cooked down just enough that it was like a sauce for the ground beef and the dough was yeasty and at the correct ratio to the filling. Portions are right in the smaller range, along with the prices. So if you need two things the amount of food and price will be good. This is going to be come a staple in our rotation of places to eat and drink because we can all get what we want in the same place.

By far KC's best "kept secret" and underknown masterpiece. From the incredibly crafted drinks made by staff as well versed in conversation as they are in their drink-craft, the Michelin worthy food at exceptionally affordable prices, to their creation of a space that is the epitome of "upscale come as you are," the Belfry is truly the best destination in Kansas City. Want to shoot some pool? Then head to their pool hall. Looking for more of a speakeasy vibe? Ground Control in the basement is your spot, with a designated bartender that can tailor a drink to your preference. More of a whiskey connoisseur? I challenge you to find a collection that rivals the bottles that Chef Celina Tio has assembled. And it sounds like they are even expanding to include a space dedicated to those more inclined to wine, as Chef Tio is also a certified Sommelier. In summary, quit googling and just go the Belfry.
