This is a review specifically on an employee who works in the gift shop. Cracker Barrel in LaGrange overall is good food, they are usually short staffed but depending on your server would depend on your service. Kitchen is amazing because I always get my fish cooked a certain way do to allergies and they are always willing to do it.
Actual review. I had bought a shirt and a sweater that were both 75% off so I got them both for $32 roughly. The shirt was a size large so I already knew that I probably was not gonna be able to wear it but I really wanted to see because it was really cute. So I was in there trying to return the shirt because it didn’t fit. After waiting at the register for maybe 10 minutes before someone finally came over, it was this shorter girl, maybe 5‘3“ or 5‘4“ in height, African American and a little on the bigger side. I didn’t get her name or her employee number, that’s why I just described her. She was extremely rude. Her first thing that she said to me was “Do you want cash back?” That’s where I responded and said no I want my original payment. And then she proceeded to say “ Is a gift card OK?” Then again I had to say no I would like it put back on my card that I paid with. She acted like that was such a problem, but then she did it so easily on her computer. Then she proceeded to hand me the customer copy return receipt, but say that she had to keep my other receipt, even though it had other items on it and it hasn’t cleared my bank account. I had to tell her that receipt because that hasn’t cleared my bank account yet so I need it just for proof. So she Said that she needed proof of return and she needed those receipts. I said she couldn’t keep that because there was other items on there and I needed it for my bank account and checking. I started to get a little defensive because she was being very rude. She then proceeded to say OK then will trade receipts so she gave me back my original receipt but took my refund receipt and she said I need these receipts for my processing or something. So then I had to say well I need a refund receipt so I have proof of the refund. When you return, you’re supposed to give the customer their original receipt and a refund receipt. She apparently did not know what she was doing. She then proceeded to call a manager because apparently she didn’t know how to do her job. Which the manager took 10 minutes and never came out so then she proceeded to just hand me all three receipts basically her copy my copy and my original receipt. Because she didn’t know what she was doing and she got mad. So now we’re gonna wait and see if my refund actually goes through because I don’t think she did it correctly or even at all.
Y’all really need to get better employees. Because this is ridiculous. When I bought the item there was this kind of skinny Lady with blonde hair and glasses, she told me that if I still have the tags and I had the receipt I could return within 30 days. She was nice. Read moreToday, June 15, 2025, I made the decision that I will be truly hard pressed to order to-go from this Cracker Barrel location again. I placed my order online and ordered drinks with my wife and I meals. When I got to the restaurant the first issue I found was the lady at the front desk was facetiming with some fella. I guess he was a relative or her boyfriend or someone but I stood there for a bit before she looked up with an aggravated look on her face. Like I said, she looked aggravated and said "can I help you?" Not, welcome in or Good evening, what can I do for you?" None of that. I suppose she was not happy that I interrupted her call.
After she ended her call, I told her, and I have to describe her because she was not wearing an apron that had her name on it (black female, heavy set, yellow shirt, hair pulled into a afro bun) that I was there for my to-go order and when she got it off the shelf, I noticed that there were two kids sized drinks. Now every other time I get to-go orders, the regular sized drinks come so when I asked her about this she said "I don't know, I don't make them, they just bring them to me." After we went back and forth two times on this, she called someone from the back and when the young lady came around she said, this guy ordered drinks and he said he gets the bigger size. She told the girl to check in the back and then she told me I would have to pay the difference for the two sized drinks.
Now I have never seen two sizes online and I have never been told that I would have to pay the difference. The young lady came back a few minutes later and said that someone named Pam said that I didn't have to pay the difference. I gathered my food while the lady I had been dealing still gave me her aggravated look. I walked to my truck and stupid me for not checking the lid because when I set the cups in the truck and drove off, big surprise, one of the the lids came off and the drink spilled on the seat in my truck. To say that I am pissed is an understatement. I figured talking to a manager would be a moot point so here is my vent. The food was good but the customer service SUCKED. Read moreI was visiting lagrange and stopped by for lunch with my biracial child. We put our name on the list and was advised it would be a 5 minute wait. While we waited for our name to be called we walked around the store. We were followed by an employee the entire time. I made it very clear that I was feeling uncomfortable as well as racially profiled. After stating this to the employee more than 2x and still continuing to be followed, I asked for a manager. The manager was kind and prompt and addressed the issue appropriately. I then told the manager I was heading to the host station as I had now uncomfortably waited 20 min instead of 5. The manager walked to the host station with me, there, while at the same time the manager confirmed I was next, the host was seating an older white couple who had just walked up. The manager again had to correct the staff. We were promptly seated after I again stated I felt these actions were racially motivated. When we were seated we did not receive the best service however the server did state that I wasn't in her section my server was just behind. I ordered food for my son as I fought back tears in disbelief. I had lost my appetite. He ate Marconi and cheese and was given burnt biscuts. I went to the counter to pay and was again ignored by 2 white staff members, until a young black man finally checked me out. This blatant display of racism still has me in disbelief. I am well aware I am in the south(which was how the manager justified the behavior of her staff) However I have lived in the south the majority of my adult life and never experienced anything like this!
