This review is for the baristas Susy ( unique spelling on the attached receipt) and Rachel, who also had a unique spelling to her name.
I went into the store today, as I usually do, and I was vlogging as well, as I usually do. I was met with no greeting from either of them which is not my usual experience but I never minded it, as long as my drink was made correctly.
But as I joined the line behind 2 gentlemen, Susy abandoned the customers in front of her, just to tell me that I can not record in the store. So I told her that I frequently record in the store and it’s never been an issue and I followed it by asking who she was. She proceeded to tell me it’s the Smithsonian’s policy that we can not record in the store. I asked for her to show me the policy and when she failed to do so, I explained until I’m met with that policy, I will continue to record, which I did in case she wanted to continue her power trip in 4K (I vlogged this entire interaction)
She remained silent, and when it was my turn to make my order, she went ahead and proceeded with doing her job as a barista instead of a Smithsonian policy enforcer. When she was done taking my order, she retreated to the back of the store.
At this time, I was left with Rachel. Rachel proceeded to make my drink and the gentleman’s drink who came in after me. She addressed the gentleman, asking if he wanted a carrier for his drinks. When she was done with my drink, she set it on the counter in front of me and walked away without a “thank you” or “have a good day” as the gentlemen before me received. Not only this but on the receipt you can see I asked for light ice. Rachel decided to freestyle my drink and gave me a drink with absolutely NO ice. So I asked her for her name as well, offering her a second chance to give a farewell greeting. She confirmed her name was Rachel. I thanked her, but still no farewell greeting was received from her.
This is absolutely not what I expect on a Sunday morning at a Starbucks that I frequent. I’m not sure what transpired before I entered the store that made their energy so stale, dismissive, and awkward, but it would be in their best interest to make sure it does not...
