Honest Abe's came recommended by several people, so I decided I had to experience it for myself. I ordered the "Greatest Burger Ever" because with that kind of name, it better be good. I also ordered the parmesan truffle fries along with a cinnamon shake. The meal is ordered at a counter just inside the door and patrons take a number upstairs to a self-chosen table. There are televisions on the walls broadcasting sports. The atmosphere is casual and exhibits Abe Lincoln's likeness and quotes throughout the restaurant.
For my burger I ordered a double as a regular patty is 6oz. I expected the burger to be messy, as many doubles can be, particularly when topped with bacon, grilled onions, cheese, ketchup and "awesome sauce". However, this burger may have been one of the most well-constructed burgers I've ever eaten. The patties didn't slip at all and the condiments stayed on the bun. The flavor was very good, although I'd hesitate to call it the "greatest ever". If there is a more well-crafted burger, I have yet to find it. It was a solid tasting burger to be sure, although a little greasier than I expected it to be.
The parmesan truffle fries were good and plentiful. There was too much parmesan for my liking, but it shook off easily. The honey curry dipping sauce, one of many options, was excellent. It would have done well with just plain fries (called "freedom fries") as the truffle fry flavor was overwhelmed by the sauce.
The cinnamon shake I ordered was flavorful and decadent. It was like sipping on a pumpkin pie, which was to my liking. There were large bits of sugar or tasty pie crust-like material that kept clogging my straw. This made the shake difficult to consume and became annoying after a while. The shake was served with a spoon, but from the start wasn't thick enough to make the spoon worthy of use.
For myself and the two diners in my group a burger, fries and shake each cost roughly $60 including tip. The trip is worthwhile as an experience, but at those prices I don't see myself as an Honest Abe's regular any time soon. There are a lot of options in the burger space, and while Honest Abe's is a cut above most, we are talking about a burger and fries. While one can't put a price on freedom, one can put a price on a burger and fries. Sometimes that price...
Read moreLooking for a bite before another metal show at The Bourbon 🤘🤘🤘! We haven't been to Honest Abe's in ages. Years ago our extended family used to pick up from Meadowlane, then for awhile I used to grab discounted kids meals from Glynoaks. Neither of us had ever set foot in the Downtown location. It was to both of our surprise how expansive and sprawling the interior is. Wow!
I often check out their rotating burgers to see if there's anything I find intriguing. The What's the Dill Burger was calling my name! Grillo's pickles, Lays Dill Pickle potato chips, and Lemon Dill cream cheese. I have a Dill obsession 😍. Subbed a Vegan Patty. While I am thrilled my Vegan friends have this option, and I do love a good Veggie Burger, theirs has never been my favorite. It tends to get mushy too fast. My thought was that with all of these super crunchy ingredients it might be a Game Changer. Even added Lettuce for good measure. It Was Delicious!!! I am not a potato chip person and have never put them on a sandwich in my life. Seriously could not get enough! Total Winner!
My husband decided on the Louisiana Purchase Burger, I kinda figured. Blackened seasoning, Coleslaw, Andouille, Spicy Mayo, and Pepper jack. He was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed it. Nice amount of heat, Coleslaw was great, needed more of that Sausage! We split an order of Freedom Fries, these are the kind I really love. Side of Awesome Sauce.
After scoping out the whole place I purposely chose the seats overlooking the Grill. My husband loves being a Looky Loo when a Kitchen is involved 🙂. Service was great. Only a bit of a wait. I'll definitely be watching their specials a little more closely!

This place hits the nail on the head for what a downtown city eatery should be, im an Omaha native and wanted something new while i was here, i was not disappointed...
I got the greatest burger 🍔 since i seen it a had a bad review and im a huge burger fan, so i had to know, was this a false label or abad rep??? 🤔 gotta say, they were wayyyy off base with that greasy mess nonsense, was not my experience at all, but i only had one patty 😊
I took pics of mine, look at the bottom of that tray and the bottom bun, i dont see any wetness on the fry or burger side 😉
I got the abe sauce, sweet honey curry i think they said, amazing, very good sauce i highly recommended
I got the truffle fries, also super good 👌 not too over powering, could still use sauce with em 😋
Lastly i got a shake, vanilla, since it let me try their ice cream instead of a concoction of toppings, and i was impressed, it was good, but i will say the very end had a touch of freezer burn taste, maybe a big jug sitting open for scoops soaking up freezer taste?.. or another reason, but overall id say 4.8 out of 5 stars 🌟
The staff was on point, but still happy and jokey, not in miserable drone mode, but also not obnoxious, friendly atmosphere, i cant say enough good stuff, except at 25$ for just me the price is steep, but thats anyhwere you go anymore and i think it was definitely worth it, a step above fast food with speedy service 😏
Honest Abe would be proud my friends, i will definitely recommend you to anyone passing through 🫡
Have a good night, i...
