After a few years of dealing with this pandemic it is time to re-review Wendy's. As most of us already know, Wendy's is a large fast food chain that places an emphasis on fresh not frozen. This basically means that they do not freeze their ingredients and that includes the meat they use in their burgers and chicken sandwiches. This does make s difference and their burgers and chicken sandwiches are some of the best from a fast food chain. They are also week known for their chilli. You do not run across fast food chain restaurants that have chili on their menu all that often but if you like chili, then you must get some while dining at Wendy's. They are coming for the masses so their chilli is not overly spicy but it does have a wonderful chilli flavor and they use kidney beans as well which is a real treat. Because their tag line is fresh not frozen, their salads are also very good quality for a fast food chain and are a healthy alternative to always eating burgers. This particular Wendy's is no exception to their tag line. All of the dishes I have gotten here are cooked well and quite tasty. The vegetable's they use in their burgers and salads are always very fresh and the lettuce always has a nice crunch when biting into it. The restaurant itself has not been remodeled in several years but it's always clean and well maintained. The biggest change that this pandemic brought about is the same change that other fast food chains have implemented as well. That change has to do with how they can still operate yet minimize the time the customer spends inside the restaurant. This particular Wendy's has a drive thru window which helps when it comes to servicing customers without bringing them inside the restaurant. Their drive thru is usually very busy though and finding a long line of cars is not uncommon. Like other fast food chains, they now offer delivery through 3rd party delivery services as well. To successfully offer delivery they had to create their own app that works on your Apple or Android based smartphone. It is their app that is the real star of the show for Wendy's these days. Their app is very intuitive and easy to use. It silently sits in your smartphone and does not spam your phone with constant notifications unlike some of their competitor's app's. My favorite way of getting delicious Wendy's fast food is not through a delivery service though. I prefer to pick it up from the restaurant itself but I order ahead of time using their app and then just pop in real quickly and pick up my order as I am passing by. I am in and out of the restaurant in just a few minutes and it is simply the easiest way to get your fast food and maintain safety. I see the majority of people going inside the restaurant have the same idea these days and most customers are in and out very quickly. They still very rarely have diners eating inside although that is now allowed but that may change...
Read moreIt has been my pandemic go-to for the healthier options. Grilled chicken sandwich with dark leafy greens and the baked potato are my favorites. On a weakness day, the 4 or 6 spicy chicken nuggets w/ the sawesome sauce or whatever its called works. Never thought I would eat there, but I'm in the f-cooking phase of my pandemic experience. Higher end restaurants are occasional splurges. Some wks its more than a splurge. Wendy's helps me reign in this behavior by saving me money.
I would say the Hawthorne staff are the friendliest, followed by Culver City, then Burbank and finally the Sunset location. They are always nice. It's super busy and they always have an issue with mobile orders from the drive thru.
Don't judge me. I really just haven't been in the earlier pandemic mindset of cooking or even my pre pandemic cooking mindset. I opted to outsource and use some money I save on gas from not commuting.
This Wendy's is a great option. You may have to wait in a long line, but it goes quickly once you order.
Staff had different masks. I hope Wendy's is paying for their masks. Ideally...
