I don’t know which was worse: the coffee being burnt or the super unprofessional behavior of the staff. I don’t mind slight conversation while you work, but to completely stop what your doing (working) and not acknowledge the line of customers you have to speaking about non-work related topics is completely inappropriate.
Also, I’m not sure if the older man behind the counter was the owner or the manager, but he clearly does not have the level of discernment or respect of his female employee who voiced her concerns of safety after a customer made a pass on her.
Not to mention, the lack of skills of the baristas. I understand you may not know how to make everything, but at least know how to make the items on your menu. When I ordered an iced macchiato, which a macchiato is on their menu, I was asked, “like the one Starbucks makes?” The barista proceeded to make me a latte. If you are going to upcharge me for a drink, you should at least make it?? Or be honest that you don’t know how to and I’ll order something else. I love to support small businesses when I’m out-of-town. However, Crazy Gander does not have to worry about me returning on my next...
Read moreI was excited to start my day with a beverage from Crazy Gander. It was conveniently located near where I was staying, had indoor and outdoor seating, and seemed to provide multiple options for coffee/espresso based drinks & tea.
To start, the service wasn’t particularly warm. It didn’t seem like they were very well-trained on the options they had listed, and the entire time they spoke just to each other and the topics didn’t feel appropriate for when you have customers near. I’m not sure if the older gentleman was an owner or manager, but he was joking with the younger female employee about her saying she felt unsafe when a customer made a personal request of her. I thought that was unprofessional — especially considering he didn’t introduce himself and just joked with them the whole time.
Wasn’t a fan of the business practice. If you’re visiting Memphis for the first time and looking for a coffee shop out of convenience… just venture out a little further and find an option that has better offerings and values giving you a welcoming experience for your money more than...
Read moreI've been trying to check out this coffee shop for a while and frankly was a little disappointed with my experience. The location is small, but very cute! I tried a specialty latte and it was okay. Not bad at all, but nothing really special either. I didn't care for my pastry, but they have some really appetizing options. The woman who took my order was super helpful and very pleasant. However, what was most off-putting was the barista's interaction with the dogs who came in. I have no problem at all with it being a dog friendly establishment and understand people have varied thoughts around hand-washing after petting. But I think in any establishment serving food and drink, hand washing should be a standard sanity practice. The barista happily engaged with every dog who came in (5 in the time I was there), but I never saw her wash her hands. She just went right back to preparing beverages each time. Some may have no problem with this, but for me and the other person I was with, it certainly made what would have otherwise been a good experience very...
