4.5 stars. what an outstanding find. just exploring the area to enjoy the time before our flight. small space with a sort of rustic style decor. only about eight tables. very sweet personable service. immediately when you walk in you see two large displays of delicious looking pastries both sweet and savory. Croissants, danish, palmiers, muffins, etc. huge croissant sandwiches, Croque Madame, empanadas, baguettes with various fillings, and mouth-watering fresh made quiche. for me the first thing to catch my eye was the enormous slices of banana bread-a fave of mine. to our misfortune, we had already had lunch so we were just after something sweet. the third area of display was a refrigerated case filled with various sandwiches cake slices. and fresh juices. staring us dead in the face was an exquisite looking key lime tart. decision made. the tart was amazing-perfectly made crust, a smooth highly flavorful filling, and topped with perfect meringue. we loved it. added a slice of banana bread to take on the flight. as we enjoyed this beauty, decided to add items for my travel meal. chose a mushroom quiche and a mini chocolate croissant. banana bread was outstanding. moist and flavorful. biggest slice i'd ever seen. like Texas toast. the quiche was at the same level of quality and flavor as everything else. even room temp the flavor was spot on and the crust flaky. only small disappointment was the chocolate pastry. chewy instead of flaky and little filling. brings down my rating. any visit to Miami of French bakeries and pastry should seek Bettant out. it's a star. i hope to return one day and have many more of...
Read moreI love this place and go here a lot but the new cafe attendant that was hired during the pandemic is clueless. The last two times I ordered from I asked for the quiche to be warmed up and it comes back cold both times. I order regular coffee she makes a latte for me. I have to return it and ask for a regular AMERICAN coffee people don’t understand what a regular coffee is for some reason in Miami so you have to basically explain the process of how the coffee is made sometimes band make caveman gestures. Second time I went in I made sure to ask for an american coffee. She gives me a latte. I ask for an american coffee again and she gives me espresso. I have to explain the process of how the coffee is made again and she says they don’t have any of that coffee today. So she makes me a latte and again. Really ridiculous. I am fine with a place running out of something but shouldn’t you communicate that to the customer instead of passing something off they don’t want and shouldn’t you have a clue what a regular coffee is and more specifically what an american coffee is when someone asks for it? They need a second person too...
Read moreThe food is good but the service is horrendous. Several times I have visited as a local and every time I face the same problem; Rude employees. One time I asked for a sourdough bread loaf and the lady asked me first if I knew the bread loaf is $9... LIST THE PRICE. SOme things have prices some don't and some you can't read the. price... Another time I asked for an almond croissant, a cinnamon roll and two plain croissants and they threw everything in the same paper bag. When I arrived home the plain croissants were covered in cinnamon, and frosting and almond remnants. They are so overpriced that it makes ZERO sense to throw everything in the same bag to save 2 cents on the paper bags. DON'T MIX. PERIOD. Also they never have a carry bag if you order a lot... Last time I ordered over $60 of food and when I asked for a plastic bag they said they don"t have any... $12.50 for a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich is so overpriced. Also the French baguette is NOT really a French baguette...It is really a tourist...
