Full honest review! I definitely enjoyed myself and the overall experience. The only issue was I was a little taken back at the fact my bf and I was originally turned away at the door for "not wearing heels" and dressing apparently too casual (I have a bad knee which is why I was in sandals) which is understandable due to certain restaurants having a dress code so we went back home to change since apparently what we was wearing wasn't ok for this place, came back didn't know if there was a hostess or not since we didn't know where to sit we eventually just found our seats after the bartender who was super friendly remembered us from our first time there a couple days back which helped us find somewhere to sit. One thing I did notice though was when at the table was when I took a look around I noticed everyone was dressed just as casual as I was before hand (literally only me and one other woman had heels on all the other women/men had sandals and sneakers on) it was ok for them to come in a enjoy their meal as soon as they showed up but my bf and I apparently didn't look like the "type of customers" they probably wanted since everyone in there had a certain look which is how the world works now a days.. I get it but it was a very surreal moment for me and if it wasn't for the professionalism of the server and bartender we probably wouldn't have stayed since not really feeling wanted at the first place. Besides that the place itself is absolutely beautiful, the food quality is up there, the flavors was delicious, the drinks got us in a fantastic mood, I did like how the staff constantly checks on you to make sure you are comfortable and everyone was super nice. I loved the sushi rolls they're super fresh and delicious and the octopus poke bowl was so freaking good! Overall I had a great night I'm happy we as locals decided change our attire to come back to try it out the food even after the awkward turn away moment we experienced at first, we ended up having a wonderful time drunk and belly full...
Read moreFull disclosure: I was invited by the Tokyo Club team. That being said, this is an honest review.
I am a fan. Simple point blank. Don't walk here, run. If you enjoy any type of raw fish, this place is must go, do not miss. They start out with the best quality fish that I have ever eaten, and quality makes all the difference. The tuna is cut and has no tendons. The fish is so fresh and plump, you will wonder what you've been eating in other places. Seriously, it might have ruined me for tuna tartare as I might have a problem eating it elsewhere now.
The octopus was perfectly grilled and not a bit chewy but the ultimate bite. The salmon is a great accompaniment in the Wakame salad.
Alas, I've jumped the gun. The Japanese Dragon is a remarkable drink that you should try at least once. It's on the sweeter side but is smoked and delivered to the table in a wooden box. A treat!
We went for some rolls and think we picked well. The Queen Roll, The South Beach Roll, and the Bikini Roll, were delectable and we devoured them. Again here, the unagi, salmon, shrimp, and tuna were so fresh that we couldn't stop eating.
I recommend getting one of the sushi boats and going all in. You won't regret it. In terms of price, it corresponds well to the quality provided. I dare say that the experience will leave you feeling that it was such a value.
Let's talk about the atmosphere. It's a small space that feels exclusive and private. You enter through a side door and descend the steps before re-emerging into a space that could be a karaoke bar in Japan. Yes. you can sing karaoke here of that's your thing.
Service was friendly and attentive. Make your reservation with the beautiful Elona and ask for Jason's table. You will be well attended. A Plus Recommends. Do go with this warning: it might ruin you for...
Read moreSo I was skeptical that this place had all 5 star reviews, but I almost had no choice but to go here because I couldn’t find another sushi place open in the area anymore. But I found out why the great reviews.
First off this was a Sunday in Sept about 9:30p surprisingly not busy. As I read other reviews I guess there are karaoke nights that are more popular.
It looked fancy in the reviews so I actually called prior to coming to see if there was a dress code and they said not really just casual. I was in shorts and t-shirt and after entering I felt a little under dressed but they accepted me.
It’s sort of a small and cozy room. Atmosphere was a cross between a night club and fancy Japanese restaurant/bar. If you want a nice hip but fancy place this would be one. The place had a low volume pop music going and a hint of some artificial fog which made for a cool ambiance.
Anyway, I sat at the bar for some sushi. All the staff from the host to server were great.
Pablo was my server here and was friendly and attentive. And the food definitely lived up to the reviews. I had a spicy tuna roll and nigiri unagi. All of it was pretty amazing.
As far as price, I’d say it’s a little on the pricey side due to the food portions. They were a little on the small side and drinks were in a smaller glass. But I’m used to Texas sized drinks and portions so maybe I’m spoiled. But the drink/alcohol content and quality of the food definitely made up for the size.
By the way, I’m learning that in most restaurants in Miami Beach, the tip gets included in the bill, and I’m by myself. At least that’s what I’m experiencing at all the restaurants I go to here. But I haven’t really minded because service from everyone has been great so far.
So I guess you can add my 5 start review to...
