The ManThe Man
A THOROUGH review of this restaurant . If you go through my review history, I rarely ever review. Today I was APPALLED at the food and service. I assure you, I do not whatsoever doubt that this is a common occurrence in bad service for Casa Matilda. We came in for brunch today. We wanted to eat their dinner menu(although it is not stated it is dinner, we had to be told by our server it was dinner only.) The server told us that dinner was at 4pm and only. We were disappointed, but understood, maybe it was our mistake. We did however find it odd that a woman to our right, was eating a dinner meal happily, a filet minon. Our server said “the kitchen is backed up, we can’t let you order from the dinner menu, it’s the rules.” Ok. FOOD REVIEW: We get our extremely small dishes, as shown in the photos. After waiting around 20 minutes. The food was mediocre. This is being kind. The food had no love put in it, the chefs do not care what they are serving their customers and have lost their love to cooking. The omelette tasted like a pre packaged frozen dish. The waffles were stale and hardly crispy. The puasas (not sure what it was called, the 2nd image) was probably the best thing I ate. I enjoyed the spice it had and the crispy texture it had when you bit into it. However, like the other dishes, it tasted pre made and frozen. Fake. On our next round of the food, I order the same, it took around 30-40 minutes for our SMALL food to come through, by then we were over the restaurant and were already asking for a ticket. SERVICE REVIEW: from someone who works as a server. Awful. Being kind, I’m sure the server is nice. However her service was not good whatsoever. She is a dyed blonde. It took around 10 minutes for her to actually reach us about the food. It was NOT that busy. Throughout the whole hour and half we were there, she checked up on us once. The second time was where we were ready to leave. Servers should not leave their tables alone for more than 15 minutes. They need to always check up on them every 15 minutes to make sure they are satisfied. Honestly, because of how scarce she made herself to us, I can hardly provide a solid review of her. She was never really there. Our BUSSER was more attentive than her. It’s embarrassing. Though the bussing isn’t its best either. When you are bussing, especially in such a “fine dining” restaurant, you should never have your arm or hand in front of the customer. It is common etiquette I doubt was ever taught to them. You must use the hand opposite of your customer so you do not intervene with their view. ESPECIALLY not reaching across the table.. The Major Issue: Discrimination? We were told we could not order from the dinner menu. Even though there was a women eating from the dinner menu already, we respected it. However a family of 6. SIX!! ALL got dinner food. We were appalled. Note, this family came in at LEAST 20 minutes after us. Which would be 2:50. They ordered at 3. A full hour before dinner, and only 30 minutes after we asked about dinner. What was worse is that they got their huge meals BEFORE we got our small ones (second). All of the ones who received dinner were a very light skinned(if not white) Latinx’s. It seemed almost racist. We doubt there was truly the intention of so, but with the awful food, service, and professionalism, it isn’t overlooked. OVERALL REVIEW: I do not recommend coming to this restaurant. The food is bland, with no love put towards it. The service is bad, no common etiquette being used by Bussers or Servers. I truly beg of you, to not give these people your time or money, it is simply not worth it. If you could, and have the same experience as me, like this review, so more people do not reach the same unfortunate conclusion.

I regret choosing Casa Matilda for our valentines diner celebration 😒 our first Red flag 🚩 was the valet parking service! We parked next to the umbrella but no one was there to park the car. We went inside and they told us to go back outside to wait for the driver that he was probably picking someone’s car. So I went outside and my wife went to our table, I waited for about 7 minutes until shows up then he told me it’s $25 Dollars, cash? Or Zelle to me but have to be right now! I told him I usually pay on my way out and he said no, you pay first here. Then I went inside to meet my wife and at the very beginning everything was looking good, they were bringing our drinks and appetizers with a good timing but after we finished eating our appetizers we began to the people from other tables complaining about the service, the food and others because they were feeling neglected and as soon as I noticed all that I told my wife, I hope we don’t get a bad experience here tonight like those people! And we ended up being neglected as well. Our waitresses were going everywhere and spending most of the time near the bar doing who knows what but clearly she forgot about us and she was not the only one doing it, I saw their manager running like a chicken going from table to table talking to like five different tables, they all complained about something last night on Valentine’s Day. This restaurant needs a whole bunch of new stuff because the people working last night, all of them were just doing a terrible job, neglecting customers, bringing the food super late and they couldn’t read the body language of the people seated bored and waiting for someone to come over. This restaurant needs implement a better system because they don’t know what they are doing and specifically on a night that was very important for all of us eating there on Valentine’s Day. They need more valet drivers, they need a person to coordinate and watch over all the waitresses and waiters so they won’t neglect anyone and also to make sure customers are getting a good service CONSISTENTLY! We are Very,Very Disappointed and this restaurant is now on my Not to Go List! This restaurant looks beautiful decorated but when the service is horrible in general, no decoration or music will make things better. One start review is what this restaurant gets from us! I wrote this review on the next day after Valentine’s and it looks like no one from casa Matilda cares enough about their relationship with their customers red flags 🚩

We enjoyed their 3-course Miami Spice dinner for $50. It was Sunday so it was a little quiet on south beach but that added to our almost private dining experience with 5 star service from Jesson and the team. They did mention that they get very busy on Fridays and Saturdays and offer a unique nightlife experience with a live dj, entertainment, bottle service and special menu. The decor I must say is stunning and we made sure we got lots of photos! Now for the food… We both ordered the Mexican Cevicbe Yucatan Style as our Appetizer and the flavor was great, you could tell it was extremely fresh. For Entrees, I ordered the prime skirt steak which was cooked to perfection and came with a delicious chimichurri. The portion was perfect. There is the option to purchase sides from the main menu as well. @benzi_13 ordered the Poblano Jumbo Shrimp Pasta which came as a generous portion and great flavour. For dessert we got the cheesecake crème brûlée which was the perfect sweet and smoky finale to the meal. If you’re looking for a good miami spice menu on Miami Beach we recommend!

I previously did a review because the people we came with were awesome but imma do a real raw review because it’s ridiculous.

First off, if you & your party are really hungry & don’t want to wait an hour on food, don’t come here. I ordered a TUNA TARTARE & it didn’t come out until AN HOUR & 20 MINUTES LATER! Mind you, I still paid full price for it of course, but the restaurant was empty…. It was the dinner party (which we were still waiting on our food……) & ONE COUPLE in the entire restaurant. When I ordered…. It was just me & the 2 promoters there. I wanted to tip bartender & try the food off the menu so I ordered from him at 9:35 right after I had arrived. Again didn’t get my TUNA TATARE until around 10:50. At dinner parties, you have to BEGGGG servers for a refill on champagne, you’re waiting the whole time for a small salad, some unseasoned sliders, & some unseasoned pasta. That’s literally it. The first time we came here for dinner party, they put out unseasoned rice & a watermelon salad only. Owner begs for positive reviews from dinner party girls, which is why they have such a high rating on here….. but you’ll notice a theme the more you read the real reviews. Others have to constantly apologize for their incompetence. Mind you… I’ve been here 6 or 7 times to witness this, it’s a constant thing I can tell they probably won’t be changing anytime soon. So if you go here expect long delays even if the restaurant is empty & you have a cold dish, expect that the servers are going to be at the bar laughing & talking at the bar while your glass of water runs empty, & expect to be asked for a positive review after a frustrating visit… as if you didn’t get shitty service the whole time. Oh unless you’re 50 cent or some famous figure…. They take you REAL serious then.

Also this is no hate to the restaurant, but I’m a foodie & I leave truthful reviews at each spot I visit. Hopefully this will cause a positive change in the...
