Dined in last week. I would have given 5 stars, but the service from the server and the commentary from the big guy host/manager was unnecessarily so two stars off bc both of them. Let’s start with the host. Prior to coming, I had a rough day with personal things(car broke down on the freeway and other personal things) I met up with a friend because I have been wanting to try this place and I know that being a pasta lover myself. Pasta would make me feel a lot better. I was crying outside of the restaurant upon meeting my friend because again I had a really bad day. We entered the restaurant the host said “reservation for 12? for your 12 personalities?” All because he obviously saw me distraught outside. I showed up inside with a smile and shifted my energy bc I didn’t want to cry and was trying to stay positive. I was really excited to try the food. It’s a common courtesy that you never know what someone is going through so that comment was extremely unnecessarily. It was snappy. And no I don’t have 12 personalities. It’s called life and death situations and car broke down the same day. It’s called being a human with emotions. What does hospitality means to you? Making that nasty comment isn’t welcoming. Try minding your own business next time and focus on what hospitality means, perhaps? As far as for the server, we sat down around 9:30 PM, I know they close at 10 PM. If they were such in a rush, why didn’t they do last seating sooner? The server kept rushing us. Does the kitchen close at 9:30? 9:45? 10? Be clear instead of having a rushed attitude and rather felt annoyed to answer questions about the food. We ordered calamari, tuna tartar, anchovy pasta, and truffle pasta. The food was excellent. Truffle pasta is a bit heavy as expected. We didn’t see much of the anchovies, but still excellent. He did his part though by asking how the dishes were. Then we gave him a feedback and he said he was gonna let the chef know. And we said you don’t have to because everything was good. We paid our bill probably around 10 PM. A little after 10 PM. Some of the staff stood at the host stand and stared at us like they were going to kill us so we had to hurry and get out. If you want your guests to leave right at 10 on the dot you may need to start seating People at a certain time and it feels uncomfortable being stared at us while we’re trying to enjoy our meal, which we paid before we even finished. My friend lives in the building across from you guys and I live in the area. I would have definitely returned again, but will not be returning. No matter how good the food is. It takes that terrible hospitality service to ruin everything. Take that auto grat. We would have tipped more if we didn’t feel rushed and annoyed and being stared at by staff by the host stand. The question is, why do you let this host manager and this server continue to ruin your business over and over? Because I did see the negative reviews and similar reviews about them.….Food 10/10 service...
Read moreThe manager is probably the rudest person!
Tonight at 6:30pm I called to make a reservation, and whoever answered the phone was just absolutely rude.
I still however, wanted to try this place for the first time and decided to go in and sit at the bar with my partner.
We ordered the strat cheese and bread to start, in which we had about one piece of bread left, and the waiter offered us more bread in which we said sure and thought nothing of it.
We also ordered a Pellegrino that was on the menu with a six dollar price tag next to it.
At the end of our meal, we received the bill in which the Pellegrino bottle was $11, which was never mentioned on the actual menu. And also a $7 charge for just some slices of extra sourdough bread.
Now, I don’t mind paying the price for those two items however it was never made aware to us that those were the prices nor is it on any type of menu. I don’t believe that if YOU OFFER somebody extra in which they don’t need and especially don’t make them aware that it’s $7, it shouldn’t be charged. Common sense
I asked the waiter to speak to the manager, and instead he comes back and says all the manager just took off the water for you guys. I said it’s not the point of taking it off. I just want to go ahead and make some recommendations for the future so people aren’t confused like us.
The manager didn’t even have the decency to come speak to us or apologize or anything. And when I got up to go to the bathroom, he was standing at the host stand just on his phone.
Prior to walking out of the restaurant, I mentioned to him my recommendations and all he did was become defensive and say that the average Pellegrino bottle at any restaurant around is 10 bucks, I don’t believe this is the right way to handle a situation when none of that remark has anything to do with me.
I also said that it would’ve been way more respectful to actually come speak to us at our table instead of just comp it so that way we could give him a recommendation, and he again got super defensive and said he was just too busy to come and that he already comped the water.
Which is quite ironic because I had just walked out of the bathroom and saw him texting on his personal phone. After speaking to him, I realize it was the same voice from earlier when I called to make a reservation. So he’s rude on the phone and in person and is the main reason, we will never step...
Read moreFirst time at Pasta and we were very happy! The service was friendly, and the restaurant was nicely decorated. Simple yet modern, with ambient lighting and an open kitchen/bar area. We ordered through the Miami Spice menu. We got to try the Calamari Fritti which were delicious and crispy. The Tartar sauce was sooo good, very herby and fresh. The salad was well dressed and had a little spice to it. I don’t love the concept of the whole lettuce leave salad instead of it being chopped, i do see how it looks more aesthetic, it’s just a hassle to cut at the table and can be a little messy We order the housemade stracciatella and sourdough form the regular menu and it was amazing. the bread was warm and toasted, perfect amount of ‘sour.’ The stracciatella was creamy and delicious, and the olive oil added a nice touch of bitterness. For mains we ordered the fettuccini verdi and the corn cappellacci. The cappellacci were the best bite of the night. Sweet, creamy pillowy goodness bathed in brown butter and pecorino, which balanced out the dish by adding saltiness and richness. Ended dinner with the chocolate gelato and the Panna cotta with burnt caramel. Both delicious in their own way, the gelato was creamy and not overly bitter. The panna cotta was creamy and tasty. I’m not a big fan of burnt caramel, but it was delicious nonetheless. Loved Pasta, can’t wait to be back and try...
