It has been a year since we've been to Sylvano's, and here's the amazing thing - the food quality and service are just as good as they always were when it was in SOBE years ago. The best of Italian home cooking, and a great value as well. Their calamari is better than anywhere in Miami, period. Go just for that. The Milanese is paper thin and flash fried to perfection with the classic arugula salad. The special snapper with shrimp, clams, and a tomato broth was silky and flavorful - like a trip to the Mediterranean coast. My friend's linguini vongole was perfectly executed, the brine from the clams flavoring a simple broth. And the pappardelle with lamb ragu was also on point, and a super generous portion. The lamb melted in your mouth, and the pasta just right. I don't often expect deserts to be as good as they were - the pistachio gelato tasted home-made, and had a tiny amount of saltiness from the nuts, a great balance to the creamy sweetness. I've had more bad, dry flavorless ricotta cheesecakes than I can count in my life and planned to never order another - but one friend ordered it and it was what it's supposed to be: creamy, touch of lemon, smooth and silky yet lighter than it's NY cousin. I've eaten at many of the Italian restos a few blocks north where the crowds wait - don't waste your time, stroll a few blocks to Sylvano's. The place feels like your cousin owns it, you feel welcome and there's plenty of indoor/outdoor seating. And the always charming Sylvano. This should be your neighborhood restaurant. Your cozy dinner for 2. Where you take a big group of friends. ...
Read moreWhat happened to Sylvano? Back in the day at the original location, we LOVED coming to Sylvano. The food, atmosphere and service was so great. Now, I don’t know if it’s the new location but this place is terrible. I am so sadly disappointed. First, we walked in this place and it smelled like sewerage. The smell was pretty strong. We stayed anyway, we were a big party and would be difficult to move onto another place. The waitress was extremely rude, I’ve never seen anything like it. She was impatient, seemed that she didn’t care to take care of the table. She was rushing through to get everyone’s order. She was pacing around the restaurant with such nervousness, it made us all nervous. Food - so so so disappointed. Risotto came out crunchy, meaning undercooked rice. Pappardelle pasta was stuck together, meaning reheated. The octopus was so hard, couldn’t cut it with a knife.
Long story short - my special little place Sylvano has...
Read moreWas walking around with my family and we wanted pasta for dinner so I googled places around the area and found so many places but luckily we chose this hidden gem! The place looks like a house and is very cozy in the inside and the atmosphere was perfect, we were greeted and taken care of from beginning to end. It is so hard to find good restaurants now a days in this oversaturated city and most of these places are expensive for nothing. This place had amazing portions and the flavors were all tasty in every dish we ordered. I finally found a pasta spot that’s not only is delicious but the prices are very reasonable for how amazing this place is! I highly recommend you give this place a try! Btw I ordered the spaghetti with clams...
