Terrible experience. Avoid this place at all costs! Yesterday it was our second time at noa. It was a very poor experience overall. There was just one server. She did not care for her job at all. She gave us water and disappeared for good 10-15 minutes, after that I saw her asking who appeared to be the hostess if she could go to the bathroom. That took another 10 minutes. It’s just unacceptable to leave your customer waiting until you wander around and then decide that that was not enough and you also need to go to the bathroom. We finally placed our order for drinks and food. My beer came without a glass. Again, bad customer service. Businesses are supposed to anticipate customer needs, and bringing a glass or asking if you needed one. I had kitchens view and I saw my boyfriends sandwich sitting on the kitchen for 30 minutes while there was no news on our food at all. When our food finally arrived, his sandwich was cold, and my steak was not cooked properly. I had that dish before at this location and whatever that was, was not the dish I had the first time. The steak was overly seasoned with Italian herbs which was not part of the dish description. Seasoning was overpowering. Cauliflower which I substituted for broccolini did not taste good. Nobody checked on us. Hostess was too focused on her computer and phone the whole time while our server couldn’t show care any less we were there. At the end, probably knowing that they provided a very poor experience, server offered a free desert, I asked if she was sure and she said yes. We ordered the chocolate cake. 10 minutes after someone from the kitchen came to our table looked all confused and asking us if we ordered the tiramisu she was bringing us. We said no but we would take that to not give them extra work. Tiramisu did not taste like tiramisu. It was extremely sweet and was lacking the liquor flavor it is supposed to have. One of the worst dinning experiences I’ve had in a while. I do not recommend this place to anyone. They don’t care about their customers, they acted like it was a hassle to have us there and they did not show any respect for our time. They made us waste almost 2 hours on what was supposed to be a...
Read moreThis was my second time here with my family and we were immensely disappointed.
Our visit was during the lunch rush but there were enough issues even accounting for this that we will not be back.
First issue, we ordered three drinks from the bar to start with. One came and they told us they were out of Gray Goose vodka. Ok understandable, my sisters then changed their expresso Martinis to a different brand, however, they only brought one Martini and never the second one. My sister ended up ordering a different drink which came quickly.
At the same time we order drinks, we also ordered an appetizer. About 15 minutes later we ordered our lunch. So far no issues right? The appetizer came out 2 minutes before our food, we hadn't even touched it when the burgers and tacos arrived. Strike 2
The Noah Burger was very good, the fish tacos were worse than cardboard. They were spicy which I love, no issues there, but there was no flavor at all. The soft corn tortilla was so dry it was stiff and the slaw on the taco had zero flavor. I ate my first taco and asked for salt that is not on the table and it took the waitress 20 minutes to bring the salt. It just didn't matter at that point.
The last time we went was a wonderful experience with great food. Other than the burger we were underwhelmed and will not be back. This place has promise, but fell so short.
Final thoughts, the bathroom doors have key codes on them to enter with the code in plain site. I didn't appreciate having to punch in a key code on a bathroom door. I just felt...
Read moreThe IDS Center is an iconic stop for Minneapolitans and visitors alike. It suffered greatly from the pandemic. Pre-Pandemic the plaza floor hosted a chef-driven overpriced, expense account restaurant; the last one we remember is Aquavit, Markus Samuelsson's first restaurant, which was a culinary, customer unfriendly disaster.
For the first time in years, my wife and I, along with our neighbors stopped by for a pre-theater dinner at Noa which occupies part of the old restaurant space. Now there is a Nordstrom Rack on the same floor, so that's how much things have changed.
If you are a visitor or a jaded Minneapolitan, everyone should stop by Noa, which opened in January of this year. Stop by during Happy Hour, if you can. Our server, Stacey, was very much a part of our great experience here.
I had a $10 happy hour maki roll sampler, and an appetizer from the main menu, and I was very satisfied. The wine list is California-centric, but there are some nice Italian selections for variety. All of us at the table cobbled together dinners from the main menu and the happy hour menu with Stacey's help. She was very candid, in a nice way, responding to our questions, "What would you recommend between these two options." The food is modern American style and everything was well done and well presented.
The bar is a nice place to have a drink and eat if your visit is short. It was not at all noisy, and the space is modern but not sterile, even with the glass and hard surfaces...
