My family and I are traveling through and we decided to stop by Bad Daddy’s because we haven’t had in years and we were super excited to eat it again because we love everything about it from when we were regulars back our home state. However this location experience was Awful. If I could give ZERO stars, I would. We went around lunch time on a weekday and the restaurant was pretty much empty with the exception of 2 other parties. Thankfully, We were politely greeted by the hostess with bright smile! Little did we know, that would be the best part of our experience via human interaction during our lunch.
My family and I were the only Black individuals in the entire establishment and we understand that isn’t atypical for this area and it didn’t and don’t bother us. However, my husband and I got an inkling that maybe this was a bother to our waitress, Rebekah because we couldn’t understand what else could be driving her behavior with us. She wasn’t inviting, friendly, and interaction was just off with us. It feels as though as if she was forcing herself to do the typical bare minimum as a waitress is expected to be with customers. Rebekah appeared as if she had an attitude, so we talked about it and gave her grace initially and we figured maybe she was having a bad day and maybe she was, but I seen her becoming very lively with her bartender coworker. He was a male white guy with red hair. He also kept looking at me and my family and even asked the other parties how were their meals and he walked right passed us. My husband informed me that our toddler waved at her and she looked at our toddler and didn’t even wave back to a child! This was even more off-putting for us and it further our suspicions with being Black customers which makes us sad to even consider especially in this day and time but I understand others still have their feelings around race even more so now than in previous years.
Next, She brought us our check as just as we began to eat our food and shared it was “no rush, in case we was looking for her” The restaurant was practically empty outside of 2 parties who were dining in as well, so it wouldn’t be hard to find her or get assistance with finding her, so it did indeed feel rushed but whatever—we took our time. But the ‘straw that broke the camel’s back’ about our experience with Rebekah as our waitress was that she brought us back our card and receipt without saying ANYTHING to us! She didn’t say any professional salutations or thank you for dining, or nothing that a personable waitress would say as goodbye sendoff to ANY customer. We simply gathered our things and walked out upset that we spent our money here at this establishment with an unpleasant experience like we just had encountered.
However, being the Christ-Followers we are, we decided to still show kindness by deciding STILL tip her despite her visible attitude and the long wait for our food. And I even went the extra mile to clean small food droppings off the floor from our child so she wouldn’t have so much to clean despite her inhospitality towards us. I hope no one of any race, gender, identity or any other socioeconomic status does not have similar experiences with Rebekah as we did! Hopeful this isn’t her typical response to customers and especially towards customers that do not look like her. Kindness is FREE! Sending her and the male bartender many prayers & light! Hopefully this feedback is used constructively for her & his professional...
Read moreTried out the newly opened Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar. This place has a huge menu for a “burger bar” and a solid selection of beers to enjoy. We came during lunch and needed a booth but only had to wait about 5 minutes. Our server Angelice was very nice and got us started with waters and a beer for me. I gave the Bad Daddy's Amber Ale from Full Sail Brewing Company a try and was impressed…a dark reddish color with a solid flavor and no after taste.
Appetizer: Tried the House made Potato Chips with both the French Onion dip and Tangy Pimento Cheese. This appetizer is AWESOME…the chips are crisp and are great without dipping. My daughter loved the pimento cheese and I loved the French Onion.
Meals: Love how they have options here and you can use a checklist to build either your burger or salad “a la carte” by checking the boxes of what you want and handing it to the server. Watched a number of different sandwiches come out of the kitchen from where we sat and they were huge and looked impressive. One thing I noted…this place does not skimp on the cheese…so you may want to request a bit less on your sandwich.
I went with the Daddy’s Philly where they take a patty and chop it up with cooked with onions, mushrooms, jalapeños, red peppers & smothered in their House made American Cheese on a hoagie roll with garlic mayo. I ordered the sandwich MINUS the peppers and guess what arrived…a sandwich with all the peppers on it. When Angelice was taking the burger back to be redone I also asked her to do half the amount of cheese on the sandwich. I love cheese BUT there was a ton of cheese and it would have been more like a grilled cheese hoagie…LOL When she brought it back…perfect. The flavor was really good and the garlic mayo added a great flavor but Angelice also gave us a sample of the Chipotle Ranch dressing they make there. I dipped the sandwich in that and WOW…great flavors. Overall this was a sandwich when brought I was like “I can’t eat all that” to “where did I put all of that sandwich”…LOL Highly recommend the Tater Tots as a side…they are really good.
My daughter when with the Create Your Own Black bean burger with Brie Cheese and grilled apple slices. She was a bit disappointed in the burger…overly moist and “mushy”. While I am not a fan of this type of burger I tried it and agree the texture was not appetizing. The house French fries are delicious!
Sadly…we were too full to try out one of their Shakes, maybe next time. Overall good food and great service. They are newly opened and are going through the normal growing pains but I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the...
Read moreOh yes, Daddy has definitely been Bad… in a GOOD way! :)
This was my first time visiting a Bad Daddys Burger Bar. I like the alliteration, but I liked my burger WAY more! I was a little disappointed their menu didn’t have pictures of the food, but I’ve heard good things about the restaurant so I was hopeful anything I chose from the menu would be at least satisfactory. I was torn between the menu options, but they offer a build-your-own-burger by selecting the options you want on a little sheet of paper at the table.
I chose a 7oz black angus patty, Medium Rare (I loved knowing I could choose the burger temp from Rare to “charcoal”. I also chose blue cheese, an over-medium egg, a brioche bun, and horse radish mayo. At the bottom of the sheet they also gave you the option to name your burger, I chose “The Jor El” since I am Kal L’s father. :)) There were several other burger related options I could have added but I wanted to keep it simple. I didn’t even opt for any sides.
When trying to locate the owner of this gem at our table, they did not call the burger by its Christened name which was disappointing. However, what arrived was an utter masterpiece!
Any disappointments would soon be washed away by the heavenly dream that took place in my mouth. Boy oh boy! …you really have to try this! I think the Medium-rare option definitely contributed to the juicy wonder. Just wow! I’ve included a picture of this center-fold worthy delight.
For a table of 8, our server was amazing, timely, refilled our drinks regularly, and EVEN MADE COFFEE for us!
The only reason I gave the “Atmosphere” category 4 stars was because it was pretty chilly inside the restaurant. Despite this, I...
