Scooby's Ice Cream Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Myrtle Beach

Visited after a day on the beach with our 4 kids. Kids grabbed a counter spot and my husband I went to the counter to to order ice cream, food and drinks. I am 42 years old so I wasn’t prepared to be carded. When staff came by where we were seated I asked if it is common to be carded clearly not close to 21. I just want to know if I should always carry ids while on the beach. She responded that they were carding more since the weekend because (then she silently mouthed) Black People. My husband and I asked her to repeat what she said, and she again mouthed black people. Not sure if she knew that the two black kids sitting next to us were our children or if she just assumed because we are white that we subscribe to the same tire, old prejudices that get circulated within some white circles….but we don’t believe black people lie more about being underage more that white people. After finishing our food my husband took our children back to the beach and I had a conversation with the woman. I asked her to clarify what she meant by black people and she immediately became defensive, left the conversation and paced behind the man that came to speak with me. He explained that because the employ black people and are friends with black people they couldn’t be racist. I just wanted her to recognize her blind spot of bias, but I am not sure she is able to self reflect on that deeper level. So if you are a person that knows that bias has nothing to do with a persons ability to be friendly or near people of marginalized communities maybe pass on this one when you are just trying to have a good time on vacation…..cause at least on of these workers might just say something seriously messed up cause she thinks...

I tried a drink called liquid marijuana and no there was no thc in it but very good nonetheless. It was a jello shot actually. I ate some ice cream on a cone. Great ice cream not the best cone if you know what i mean but regardless i enjoyed it. Other members ate food they enjoyed. We also love souvenir cups. Scooby's is amazing simply cause they stay open until 145a.m. I enjoyed that. It is a place you wouldn't imagine seeing so many things together in a restaurant. Serves ice cream, food, liquor, and clothes. i was taken by surprise and went back the next day. Its a busy place and they got us through the line quickly. Of course people are going crazy over ice cream, it is delicious and cooling on the beach. Exactly what you dont know you and the kids need. Make a visit today summer is almost over. Its directly on the strip and walking distance from our hotel. late night snack to the max at Scooby's. The vibe is nice inside and the artifacts they have hanging up are cool. The bar n grill is a nice place to visit and even has few outside seating. Whats better than ice cream in the sun on the beach nothing more than a drink to wash it down. They have some of the best mixes as i mentioned first. Hey dont judge me were on vacation and it was my birthday i turned 31 by the way and thanks. If i could vote 0 Stars I Would Not Only Is The Place Rude But Your Can Also Tell It’s Very Diverse When It Comes To Race , I Ordered 2 Fish Bowls Which Was Totally Over Priced However Despite The Guys Nasty Attitude We Ordered out drinks and food And Headed To The Beach . When we’re done we decided to get the Refills On The Drink Since They We’re discounted i got someone different to walk with me for refills and he immediately cards him and it was funny because he didn’t card me or the women i was with before and he didn’t even ask for mines at this time but insisted for the Guy im with for his id but he left it in the hotel room upstairs, so we leave and when i come back i come ALONE and with my Id just in case to get the refills he still denied me for getting both drinks and said i have to get just one and have someone else get the other one smh so a guy i was talking to in the line that i knew offered to buy and get my other refill and he still said no sorry we don’t do that here smh it was just too much because i had to call another person to come get my other refill And There was no issue and he didn’t get asked for an id as well smh ! The food i got was good but the headache that’s comes along with it is just not worth especially dealing with rude and diverted people who makes up crazy and weird...
