Mattheessen's Ice Cream - Cookies - Fudge: A Nashville Icon You Can’t Miss If you’re in Nashville and craving an authentic, homemade dessert experience, Mattheessen's Ice Cream - Cookies - Fudge is the place to be. Located on Second Ave and Broadway, this iconic shop is a celebration of craftsmanship, quality, and the kind of hospitality that makes you feel right at home. Let’s start with the star of the show: their homemade ice cream. Made fresh daily with the finest ingredients, every scoop is a masterpiece. Rich, creamy, and bursting with flavor, it’s the kind of ice cream that reminds you why homemade is always better. Whether you’re a fan of classic flavors or something more adventurous, Mattheessen's has something to delight your taste buds. Then there are the cookies. The moment you step inside, the irresistible aroma of freshly baked cookies fills the air, drawing you in like a magnet. These cookies are warm, chewy, and absolutely divine—perfect on their own or paired with a scoop of their incredible ice cream. It’s no wonder they’re the only store on Second Ave and Broadway that lures you in with the smell of fresh-baked goodness. And let’s not forget the fudge. Creamy, rich, and indulgent, it’s the kind of treat that makes you close your eyes and savor every bite. Whether you’re enjoying it as a standalone delight or gifting it to someone special, Mattheessen's fudge is a must-try. What truly sets Mattheessen's apart, though, is the warmth and kindness of their team. During my visit, Hunter was an absolute delight—friendly, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about creating a memorable experience for every customer. It’s this level of care and attention that makes Mattheessen's stand out in the heart of Nashville. Located at the vibrant intersection of Second Ave and Broadway, Mattheessen's is more than just a dessert shop—it’s a destination. Whether you’re a local or a visitor exploring the city, this charming spot is a must-visit. The combination of homemade ice cream, fresh-baked cookies, and decadent fudge is simply unmatched. If you’re in Nashville, do yourself a favor and stop by Mattheessen's Ice Cream - Cookies - Fudge. It’s not just a treat—it’s an experience you’ll want to savor again and again. Five stars aren’t enough for this Nashville gem. Highly recommended!

This ice cream place was amazing! And the gal working behind the counter was absolutely phenomenal. She knew everything about the flavors they had, let us sample a few and made the accommodations my children asked for. Her attitude and customer service were top notch. Needed to start with that, because service is EVERYTHING to me
as well as flavor. The homemade ice creams were delicious. We got mint chip, brownie, strawberry, confetti, turtle, a blue flavor, and so many more. Everyone loved theirs. Prices are kind of steep for a quick treat, but you’re in downtown Nashville. It was $50+ for the 6 of us to have ice cream. Worth it to me because we don’t do special treats like that often. I would definitely recommend this place and would come back again. We did not try any of the cookies or other treats since we got the ice cream.

This is in my opinion the best desert bakery in town. They have fudge as well so gf people can still enjoy. Forget your low calorie, dietary restricted, alternative or "vegan" options. This is your 100% everything in there bakery. I mean butter, cream, milk fat and chocolate they use it all and it shows. They have the largest softest cookies in town. There never seems to be a line and when there is it's gone pretty quick. Staff are all very knowledgeable and friendly. This is a great place after dinner or in between honky tonks to catch your breath and enjoy some of the best deserts the city has to offer(get the "emasculated brownie" #no_nuts). All in all I would recommend this place to locals and travelers alike. If you are only going to one bakery in Nashville, I recommend this one for a sweet deal.

Overall very rude and unprofessional staff. I ordered a single scoop and noticed that the man in front of me received a significantly larger single scoop than I did (they were scooped by 2 different people). I was a little upset, because if I’m paying $6 for a single scoop of ice cream it better be a decent size.

So I made a comment to my friend next to me about how the person in front of me received a bigger scoop and the girl behind the counter said very loudly “Is there a problem?” I didn’t want to cause a scene so I said no everything is fine, but she insisted and said very loudly “no tell me what the problem is. I saw you say something to your friend!” At this point it caused a scene, and so I mentioned how I would’ve liked a bigger scoop of ice cream comparable to the size of the person’s in front of me. She proceeded to impatiently grab the ice cream cup back and she did add a significant amount to make it the size of 2 scoops (a little unnecessary, but I was thankful), which is why I’m giving 2 stars vs 1.

The whole thing happened with her giving me a lot of attitude and being very rude to me with a whole line of people watching. It just seemed very unprofessional. I had gone to Mike’s ice cream next door the previous day and their ice cream was way better and the staff wasn’t rude. I came all the way from Utah and it was my first time in Nashville. I didn’t realize I was going to have such a negative experience in an ice cream shop
Definitely recommend Mike’s next door over...

I visited Nashville this past weekend, and I am so glad that this is a place that I was able to spend quite a bit of time. I first walked in an ice cream shop nearby and it was really chilly inside and I looked at the pricing and it was decent But I decided to keep walking. And then walked into this ice cream shop and immediately the smell was amazing. It was warmer temperatures and I took a minute to look at the pricing. It was approximately three dollars more for a chocolate milkshake but with atmosphere and everything else considered. I decided to place my order there. The chocolate chip cookies looks so amazing I had to get one with my shake, it was completely worth it from the service to everything I ordered. We paid for parking in a parking garage nearby and we were within walking distance from a lot of other places. The decorations in this place were really cute and fitting. The other customers were even amazing as well as we met another couple and were able to form a connection while eating or dessert together.Thankful for the couple from VA and for a good last minute stop before leaving town! I will...
