Why does Google want me to review a bridge? It's a pretty solid bridge. It'll get you across the river in either direction. My untrained eye says it is sturdy and unlikely to fall. It is steep on both ends. If you are riding a bike across it this will be a challenge. If you are riding a car across it the steepness will not bother you, but the police will, as cars are not allowed upon on the pedestrian bridge. The bridge looks like an old railroad bridge nearby it has very cool iron trusses and was the first of its type. However you will not find a train on the bridge as those are not allowed either. There is however sometimes a train under the bridge which is cool. There is an elevator on each side of the bridge.. They smell terrible. There are stairs as well which also smell bad but at least you usually have a breeze on the stairs. There is free parking on the stadium side of the bridge, unless an event is happening there. You will find homeless people sleeping under the bridge mostly on the downtown side so please be careful especially at night. On a more positive note it has great views of downtown, the stadium, and the other bridges. There are nice little overlooks to get great pictures that will look just like all the millions of other tourist's photos. Also please do not leap from the bridge the Cumberland is very unpleasant to swim in you wouldn't enjoy. Just have a nice walk to or from downtown take a photo or two and enjoy the...
Read moreThe John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge in Nashville, Tennessee, is an iconic landmark that offers breathtaking views of the city’s skyline and the Cumberland River. Originally constructed in 1909 as a vehicle bridge, it was later repurposed into a pedestrian-only walkway, making it a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike. Its historic steel truss design gives it a vintage charm, while its spacious walkway provides ample room for walkers, joggers, and cyclists.
One of the bridge’s most appealing features is its panoramic view of downtown Nashville, particularly at sunset when the city lights reflect off the river. The bridge is also a popular location for photographers, couples, and event planners due to its romantic ambiance. Read moreDecided to take a quick trip to Nashville to do some photography with my new camera. I had been there before but my skills were not up to my present level. It was recommended via the Internet to go to this bridge and take shots from there. So these are the shots I got on a very great morning for photography where the sky was pure blue and the sun was out but not too strong and the temperature is comfortable.
The bridge actually connects downtown Nashville to the Nissan football stadium on the other side of the river. It is strictly for pedestrians. There is Nissan Stadium parking which gives you quick access to the bridge which is free if there are no Stadium activities. However one parking lot is restricted and you will be towed away unless you have one of those Stadium passes.
For those who may have walking difficulty there is an elevator from the parking lot that will take you up to the top of the roadbed of the bridge. this bridge as you can tell from my photograph gives you a quick and clear advantage point to photographing and viewing downtown Nashville as well as the stadium which is on the right...
