When it comes to dining experiences, there are highs and lows, and unfortunately, my visit to NashHouse Southern Spoon and Saloon fell into the latter category. While our server, Jerome, deserves every bit of praise for his outstanding service, the overall dining experience left much to be desired.
Let's start with the positive aspect of our visit—the exceptional service provided by Jerome. From the moment we walked in, his warm and friendly demeanor immediately made us feel welcome. He was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met throughout the evening. Jerome's professionalism and genuine enthusiasm elevated our dining experience.
However, when it came to the main event—the food—I was sorely disappointed. I had high hopes for an authentic taste of southern cuisine, but unfortunately, NashHouse fell short of expectations. I decided to order a burger cooked to medium perfection, only to be presented with an overcooked, well-done patty that was disappointingly dry. The lack of juiciness and tenderness made it a struggle to enjoy each bite. It was a far cry from what I had anticipated.
Adding to the underwhelming experience was the queso dip. A quintessential appetizer, this dish should have been bursting with flavor and richness, but instead, it fell flat. The queso dip lacked the creaminess and zesty kick that would have made it truly memorable. It felt like a missed opportunity to showcase the unique and vibrant flavors of southern cuisine.
What struck me the most about NashHouse Southern Spoon and Saloon was the stark contrast between the exceptional service and the lackluster food. It was disheartening to witness such a disconnection between the front-of-house staff and the culinary execution in the kitchen. While Jerome's stellar service added a glimmer of positivity to the evening, it couldn't compensate for the subpar food that was delivered to our table.
NashHouse Southern Spoon and Saloon failed to live up to its promise of delivering outstanding southern cuisine. Despite our server Jerome's efforts to make our dining experience enjoyable, the overall quality of the food was below average. The burger, ordered medium but delivered well done and dry, was a letdown, and the queso dip failed to excite the taste buds. Instead of savoring the flavors of authentic southern cuisine, it felt more like eating generic bar food. I hope that NashHouse takes these criticisms constructively and strives to improve the quality of their dishes to match the level of service provided by their...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I did not intend on going here but stumbled in out of the cold weather since we’d left our original place and this was the closest thing nearby. It’s one of the typical Nashville live music establishments where the music is so loud you can barely converse with each other. It was about 9pm when we arrived and it was pretty crowded, also predators game had just ended so there were quite a bit of people from the game and then mostly tourist groups. The menu is very typical southern comfort food and I wouldn’t normally order wine at a place like this but we’d planned to have steak and wine that night, so we stuck to the plan. That was a mistake… We both got Angus prime filets cooked medium and medium rare with mashed potatoes, macaroni and okra. It took a solid hour for us to be served our food. Our steaks were two completely different sizes, absolutely not 8oz steaks (I know how the sizing works once cooked) but one was way smaller in thickness and overall size than the other. My steak was completely well done, not even edible. My boyfriend’s was medium well, definitely not medium rare. He didn’t get his macaroni but was given asparagus which wasn’t even on the menu? Even if the steaks were cooked correctly, there was absolutely no flavor to them. We ate maybe 5 bites each of our meals and just couldn’t it anymore. They comped my steak for it not being cooked correctly and I didn’t want to be difficult and request another one. Even with they comped the total was still $100. The waiter was a really young guy, barely spoke and seemed to not really know the menu or what was going on, but he’s not to blame for the poor delivery of food or quality.
Massive let down. I’m sure this is a good spot for some beers and maybe a burger if you wanna go in somewhere after a game and listen...
Read moreEditing to add a response to the restaurant's response: I would be happy to come back again if you can explain what y'all are doing to improve the service. based on several reviews similar to mine you have a problem with training or something. Clearly not everyone is one of the family as we were treated like we were ghosts.
I would love to be able to review the food here, but am unable to.
We walked in near 5 on a Saturday to have some food and drinks ahead of a predators game. We wanted a change from assembly because it's always packed and the service is just so so. sadly we ended up at a place that is far, far worse.
We walked in to three people standing at the hostess counter. No one said anything to us so I asked the person looking at me if we could just seat ourselves. He acted like i was speaking Greek and pointed to the hostesses to whom i repeated my question. she said no and brought us to a booth. the place was maybe 1/4 full.
So we sat down. and waited.
and waited.
and waited.
finally we thought maybe they weren't doing table service so we moved to the bar. there were two people sitting at a bar that was 30' long. bar tender was interacting with one for a minute. walked to where we were sitting without acknowledging us, then back to the other end and propped himself up against the cash register and continued talking to the person at the bar.
it was at this point we realized we didn't want to spend any money here. we left without anyone saying anything to us.
Definitely do...
