As a Bonvoy member and a frequent flyer at a variety of Marriotts AND luxury spas, I would NOT recommend the spa here. I was incredibly disappointed in not only my massage, but the experience overall. (loved the hotel though!)
The people at the spa desk were nice and booking was easy, but the spa locker room is tiny with only one shower and toilet. The relaxation area is shared by everyone, but in an area where many people are walking through, including employees who are coming/going from their shifts.
The massage itself was super expensive ($225+ for a 45minute massage with no add-ons), so I was expecting excellence. It was probably one of the worst ones I have ever had. The masseuse was clearly irritated, and wasn't friendly upon greeting - I could feel her negative energy and stress. She had shared "she typically does deep tissue and uses firm pressure," and I told her I prefer medium. She didn't inquire much about the areas I'd like to focus on, and I don't believe she read the prep sheet. She used her elbows majority of the time (which doesn't seem appropriate for the entirety of the massage on petite individuals). Knots were not effectively addressed. The bed was also cold and I asked for her to heat it. Additionally, you could hear conversations in the hallway. I also kept a keen track of time, as I want to ensure every minute I'm paying for is being utilized. She ended 10 minutes early (I timed it from when she started, not when we entered the room) which made sense as I saw her running out with her bags (leaving work) as I sat in the relaxation area after my massage (I added on facial steaming for 10 minutes). She was clearly in a rush to go home. I would not be surprised if there have been other complaints about this female masseuse.
I tipped 20% so my bill ended up being north of $300. I don't feel she deserved a nice tip but also wanted to acknowledge her time spent with me. We were celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary and that was not an easy $300 to swallow for a below average experience. The lady at checkout asked how it was but was also speaking with another customer inquiring about availability, so the conversation was not productive.
I'd recommend looking elsewhere. I also was not able to find an email to send my feedback...
Read moreVery disappointed in the services my friends and I received there. We told the receptionist we had to use the restroom numerous times but she told us she would show us to the restroom when she took us back to the treatment rooms if we could wait to finish paperwork. No problem. We went to the bathroom immediately once she brought us back there (there is only one toilet) and less thang 3 minutes later, one of the ladies performing our services comes in there saying “do you all realize your treatment services have already started? What are you doing?”....we immediately got very defensive as we are in our 30s and don’t appreciate being talked to like children when we are paying for very expensive services. AND we had to use the restroom (one of our friends is pregnant). After that, there was a lot of tension and we didn’t enjoy our VERY rushed services. My body scrub was a waste and not relaxing at all. They wouldn’t give us robes or slippers because of COVID, which we understood, but then we saw other people with robes and slippers on. Not fun having to put our regular clothes back on right after a scrub. The other lady that we referred to as the “hall monitor” for the rest of the day even rushed my friend when she was getting dressed. THEN 20% gratuity is automatically added. I have had plenty of spa services in my life and this was the least pleasant, not relaxing, and MOST EXPENSIVE spa experience I’ve ever had. We even told the receptionist when we were leaving, and she seemed very unconcerned and made a comment about how the “hall monitor lady” can just be very uptight about schedules. I wasn’t going to cause a scene about the automatic gratuity, but I will never return and want to prevent others from wasting their money. My husband and I are Marriott platinum members, and this was unacceptable and...
Read more3 night stay Sunday to Wednesday July 24-27. $1727, best price via Bonvoy. Fairly new and beautiful facility. Great view from 22nd floor. Air conditioning vent blows like a windstorm on your head and neck. Excellent location: across the street from Music City Convention center and an easy walk to Broadway. No nearby convenience stores. Pool outdoors without much view. Top floor restaurant over cowded. Do not plan to eat there without a reservation. Eat at the bar? No way, three customers deep. Lobby bar very nice with extremely limited menu. Sigh. Room service menu not much better. If you like barbeque meat, great. If you're a vegan or vegetarian hope you brought some protein bars to survive. It's still the 1980's at the JW Marriott when it comes to options. Cheese pizza for one, without flavor, greasy and a nice but small side salad with a bourbon and coke and tip=$65. Ha. Housekeeping rag left in the sink from last cleanup.
Suggestions: Open a second in house dining option. Expand the lobby bar menu and room service options. Instruct housekeeping to double check when they finish. Allow skipping the daily towel change. Think green. Initiate an alternative food option to barbequed animals. Flavorful and plant based protein options are all the rage.
For the money I expect a better game. Somebody is asleep...
