Unsanitary, awful experience, unfortunately. When there are hairs put in your food seemingly on purpose, there isn’t a whole lot to say after that but I’ll give it a try. Went here this past Friday around 5:45 after the NYC rain storm since the reviews we read were decent. To sum it up, there were 2-3 long, dark hairs in one of our pasta dishes. And they absolutely looked as though they were placed right on top on purpose. The service was very slow from the start. We ordered half a dozen raw oysters and French fries to start and the raw oysters took a weirdly long time to come out. We had just gotten our oysters, when a young woman (not our waiter) then immediately brought our entrees out, which is generally annoying. There wasn’t even room on our two top table to fit everything. So we asked if they could keep the pasta entrees warm in the kitchen while we finished our appetizers we had JUST gotten. I guess our simple request must have pissed someone off big time because when those pasta dishes came back out, those long, dark hairs I mentioned were sitting right on top of the pasta on one of the plates, looking way too perfectly placed if you know what I mean. Beyond disgusting. The operations manager, Ronnie, came over immediately and tried to smooth things over. He was professional and tried his best but the damage was done. He didn’t charge us for the fries or oysters. But our dirty martinis were $22, which I suspect was them upcharging our drinks on account of the “free food”. Looking back we should’ve just walked out, not paid for anything and reported them to the health department…now...
Read moreThis was one of the most bizarre dining experiences I’ve ever had in nyc. They were able to seat us quickly on a Friday night, which was great. We were “warned” that a DJ was starting in an hour, which was fine with us.
We tried to order a bottle of red and were told they didn’t have any and that they did have white but not any of the ones on the menu. This seems weird for a Friday night at a vaguely Italian restaurant.
We ordered an appetizer, a pasta dish and pizza. We got the appetizer quickly but after about 45 min, had to ask a staff member to check on the rest of our food. I sat watching the pizza chef not making our pizza which was kinda hilarious.
The staff person we asked seemed like a front of house person who told us “Everyone is getting their food tonight! Don’t worry - I haven’t even gotten mine yet!” What a weird response.
When our pizza came, it was the wrong one and the waiter insisted it was correct. They finally realized it was not the right one. Then the pasta came. It was fine. Then the pizza finally came.
In the course of all these events, a literal nightclub formed around us. We knew about the DJ but not the flashing lights for the nonexistent dancefloor. We had to laugh.
This place is overpriced, under managed, and honestly...
Read moreWe recently ate at Katherine Meets Toni and we were lucky to come in for the soft launch of their new brunch menu. It was nothing short of fantastic. I want to eat brunch for every meal from now on.
We got to enjoy four different dishes. Their avocado toast, rice ball, steak and eggs, and Nutella crepe.
The avocado toast w truffle fries was rich and meaty - it came with smoked salmon, bacon, and cheese. The truffle fries were great. The rice ball was crispy and cheesy. And the steak & eggs and the Nutella crepe tasted like something your mom would make you for breakfast on your birthday. The crepe was my favorite even though I couldn't finish it...
We also enjoyed an unlimited mimosa flight with four different fresh juices. The juices by themselves were delicious and being able to mix them however you want with your prosecco was a fun experience.
A special mention goes to Ronnie, the director of operations, whose warmth and welcoming demeanor made us feel like friends and family - which we aren't accustomed to as Long Islanders dining in the city! Lol. We had an extraordinary experience and are looking forward to...
